  • With all of the luxury 3-row SUVs out there, you might not realize that it’s the Acura MDX that is the best-selling one of all. That’s because since it debuted for 2001, it has mostly went about its business in the typical Acura kind of way. Subdued luxury, technology rich, and eminently reliable. So, no fuss…no muss. Until now that is.

The engine in this thing will last 200,000 miles if you treat it well. So there's that as well I guess. That interior just looks so cheap compared to its rivals. Even lesser vehicles. Just way too much Civic-grade plastic further dulled by that really outdated duel screen system. I have no doubt it'll last forever, and clearly a lot of buyers love this car, but I just don't get why someone would drop $60k on this vs a well equipped XC90 or drop an extra $5k for a Q7.

    • @GT-ed2un
      @GT-ed2un 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eating junky ASMR I think “beast” is a bit of an overstatement considering it’s still a slow, chunky, lumbering suv. Better than a Lexus RX, yes. But put it up against an XC-90 (arguably a much nicer interior and more refined exterior) and the 0-60 times are nearly identical if not a few ticks faster depending on engine selection. Same could be said for a Q7.
      Acura depends heavily on consumers who want to keep a car til the wheels fall off and who aren’t interested in the latest and greatest tech. Like a lot of Japanese cars, they make loud, flashy exteriors, cut huge amounts of the budget from interior design quality and sell it for less than it’s competitors. It’s not a bad thing, but their vehicles are pretty underwhelming as a result

      Spiritcr1jsher very boring and not very attractive. The new designed Kia Sportage SX turbo is a great option. Has all the features you mentioned and more. A little slower to 60 about 6.9. Good reliability, much cheaper and has great styling which makes the car look like it cost even more than it does. Fully loaded AWD is around $36,000.

      @@daniels7862 that car is cheaply made and 1 second slower 0-60 is huge . People spend $8000 on performance parts to get 1 full second on the 1/4 mile , let alone 0-60. Also the resale closes the gap and go into a Kia dealer vs Acura and tell me what you think . I do agree, the Acura has the boring interior and I hate their screen and NAV graphics but what really matters the MDX does better than most .

      Spiritcr1jsher Kia reliability is very good these days and has won many awards. The sportage is ver well made. 1 sec is not going to matter most people. In my opinion the sportage and stinger look better than anything coming out of Acura.

    It's 10k over priced a shame we would've definitely gotten this . but they just want too much. And the RDX is just 5 seats ugh maybe we will look at the Ford Flex with the eco boost

      @davidrx795 acura has alwaya been an inbetweener .. Cars are much more luxurious nowadays and certainly can be cross shopped its people like you with that mindset that keeps driving up these prices.. The acura doesnt even have 300 hp!! Why would i want to buy a 55k car with less horsepower instead of a 335 hp vehicle for almost 15k less??

      @davidrx795 Have you been inside a platinum Explorer with the turbo v6? That thing rides better and is loaded with everything luxurious. Yes the sh awd is about the only thing going for this fwd bias crossover. The higher trim F150's and Expeditions, are luxury vehicles at this point. You sound ignorant.

      @@stevebouchard9137 I checked the Kelly Bluebook price for a 2017 Explorer Titanium versus a MDX sh awd, fully loaded both with 25k miles. KBB reported a private party value of $35,724 in the NYC area and the MDX was assessed $37,151. Your claim of a massive depreciation advantage is bullshit quite simply and more hilarious considering the Explorer is also used as a government fleet vehicle yet it retains a good price parity with the MDX. You sound ignorant and also a lousy liar at that. But to be frank I think the Explorer at that trim level is overpriced and no longer in the regular car range. But dont fool yourself, a MDX is a badge engineered Honda. You're acting like you're driving a Benz or Audi! 😆

    There is nothing luxury about Acura. They look like overpriced Hondas. Yes Lexus and Toyota are the same also but they do good job of making them different. Lexus competes more with the Germans than Acura.

    • @Rainman00000

      Lexus offers several rear wheel drive sedans and coupes with no Toyota equivalent in the U.S, Acura offers only one. While not an enthusiast brand at least Lexus makes an effort to appeal to that segment too while retaining luxury features.
