Reporters relay information from their studio, that's the job they are tasked and they would be fired for speaking from a investigative standpoint. He doesn't get caught up in the pedantics, nor does he get distracted defending himself. He remains steadfast on-point and doesn't relent until he's completely illustrated what he wants to. He's a case study on how to approach disingenuous attacks.
I don't think people fully appreciate how monstrously good he is at this stuff. I've been watching contentious debates for 15+ years, and he stands out as one of the best I've ever seen at handling these things.
He wasn't unphased; he had to cowardly deflect and lie. He lied to her about where he heard the media report, and then he lied about when CTV made their first report about the incident.
He is on the attack too much and rarely articulates a solid defence of his positions.
She rightfully asked Poilievre if it was responsible of him to characterize the incident as terrorism before officials had officially done so. Like a coward, he defected immediately accusing the Canadian Press of irresponsible journalism and often failing to get its facts right. Then he went further, saying that “CTV reported that the Government of Canada was presuming that the incident was terrorist … And that’s what I said in my remarks … I said there are media reports.” He then asked her, “So do you think the CTV was irresponsible in putting up that tweet?”
We know now his answer was a lie. One only has to look to CPAC and now their archives to confirm this.

The entire premise you're trying to lay out (that Poilievre is disingenuous) hinges on the idea that because the report he cited wasn't published at the time of his statement, his initial statement was somehow dishonest or inaccurate, or that he completely fabricated his motivations. His assumption was perfectly reasonable under the circumstances, especially considering massive uptick in terrorism and hate crimes in western countries. You can call him irresponsible all you want, but his concerns were perfectly valid and anybody remotely aware of current events would be thinking the same thing.
The reality is that, yes, while the specific report he cited here wasn't published at the time of his statement, there were several other sources already reporting exactly what he stated. The biggest thing you're intentionally neglecting to acknowledge here, the primary reason I commented on this exchange, is the blatant hypocrisy and journalistic confliction of the CP reporters position on the matter, and how well Poilievre illustrated this issue. This reporter is taking a position that is directly in conflict with their parent company's position on the matter, which is an astute thing to articulate on the spot, and is a perfectly valid response.
I'm not a conservative, and I disagree with Poilievre on a lot, but you left-wing types are always relying on most obtuse crumb-picking to try to invalidate those you disagree with. You focus on the smallest and most inconsequential things to discredit people, completely ignoring the actual substance of a situation, yet refuse to apply the same sort of scrutiny to your own people. If you applied even a fraction of this sort of nitpicking to Trudeau, you'd spend the rest of your life writing about all of his indiscretions. But it doesn't suit your borderline-religious convictions, so you pretend it doesn't exist.
I stand by my statement. Poilievre handled this exchange incredibly well. His motivations were perfectly reasonable, and even being as uncharitable to him as possible, he's still only slightly misleading about the chronological order, while still maintaining a verifiably valid position that was in line with the information available at the time.

All I have heard from Poilievre over the past nearly 2 years has been the continual whining, grievances, and pronouncements of doom and gloom, (Of course, everything in Canada was all honey, roses and peaches 8 years ago, however, under Trudeau and the Liberal Administration, everything in Canada has deteriorated into absolute "Rack and Ruin". According to PP, Canada is now worse off, than many of the 3rd World Nations.
Rather than any positive Vision for the Future Canada, all I have heard from Pierre Poilievre, is a message of Negativity, Grievance, Grievance, Grievance, and Victimhood. A message very similar to the one that Donald Trump has been harping about for the past 7 years in the U.S. According to P.P., Everything negative that has occurred in Canada (and also in much of the rest of World), has all been the fault of Trudeau and the Liberals.
What I haven't heard much about from Poilievre and the Conservative Party are Realistic Proposals for solving the myriad of problems that Canada is facing. Certainly, it is past time to an elect an alternative to Trudeau and the Liberal-NDP Coalition Government. However, Pierre Poilievre Certainly is NOT the answer.
