Brian, a good reporting story would be to really ask what Quebecors (30 mins outside of Montreal and beyond to the rest of the province) really think about Trudeau and the Bloc. I can tell you that voters are changing their minds across the province when it comes to the BLOC. The French don’t like the Libs and the Bloc is now seen as traitors since they teamed up with the Libs. I will explain something that many people in other provinces don’t realize what happened at the last election. BLOC gained many, many more seats because they don’t like JT, the NDP are wishy-washy and O’Toole was seen as very, very weak. The only party left was to vote for BLOC. That’s why the Bloc gained seats from (something like)8 to the 30’s. Now that the teaming up of the libs has happened, it is seen as traitorous move. The radio stations are loudly making the same statement. Which could lead to a great increase in voters for cons. I live in one of the few conservative ridings in Quebec. It’s a no brainer who this riding will vote for.
A lesson for all other Canadians, I have yet to come across a person who wants to separate Quebec after 15 years. They all hugely dislike Trudeau, so if there is any talk of separation, it’s because of that huge dislike. Only Montreal is liberal, not the whole of the province. It’s like saying that all of Alberta was Liberal if only Edmonton were liberal. Or all of Ontario is liberal because only Toronto is Liberal. Outside of Montreal, the rest of Quebec is beautiful and is wholeheartedly more right leaning than left.
