- Now that Israel has begun its operation into the city of Rafah, people are preparing for the final stages of Israel’s invasion of Gaza; and the inevitable civilian deaths that will result.
Piers Morgan brings Rania Khalek, Emily Schrader, Elica Le Bon and Thomas Hand onto the panel to discuss the assault. Thomas Hand recounts the suffering his family went through when his daughter Emily was taken hostage on October 7th, and explains that Israel will continue to fight with or without US military aid.
Rania refuses to condemn the actions of Hamas on October 7th, calling it part of Palestinian resistance. However, British-Iranian lawyer Elica immediately rebukes her, explaining that the leaders of Hamas have become billionaires. Rania, however, won’t budge on her convictions.

Something that Rania said shows me how little she knows about the history of her own home region. Arabs are not indigenous to Lebanon. The Arabs came from the Arabian peninsula (modern day Yemen, Oman, Saudi Arabia), they invaded/colonized North Africa and the middle east to spread Islam in 700 CE. Egypt used to be almost 100% Coptic Christian, Lebanon was Christian as well. The language spoken in these countries were not Arabic. Coptic was spoken in Egypt, Berber in Tunisia, Aramaic in Syria, Iraq, Judea, etc... Arabs are actually the colonialists. They forced a foreign language and religion on the rest of the middle east through violent invasions. Jews are an indigenous people, they have been in the region continuously for 3000 years, as evidenced by the existence of ancient Jewish temples and artifacts, its not even disputed facts. The fact that she calls Jews colonists and calls herself indigenous.... its completely wrong and sad that she knows so little about the origins of her own people.

I was at a hospital appointment in Israel yesterday and the Arab sitting next to us got talking. Mainly health issues but then got on to a lot of his family who have moved abroad but found it hard and how Israel is best. The Hamas aren't fully organized and probably didn't take all of the hostages. There are individuals and other extremist groups. I highly doubt they know where all of these hostages are, many of whom, as you point out, are probably dead.

Then you will say they are occupied. If they are occupied, how did hamas came into power in Gaza? They could not have done so if Israeli force roams the place. Then maybe you will point to West Bank. It will be understandable if some Jews connect themselves to the place because of their ancestral claim and based on observation, say if foreigners go to your country and form a settlement, does it qualify as occupation already? On the other side of the coin, Israel welcomes Arab, they have Arab citizens in fact and they even let Palestinians come to Israel to work and be treated while the other side does not want any Jew in their soil at all. That alone speaks volumes already.

If we call what’s happening in Gaza genocide then every war is genocide. The almost 11.000 civil casualties in Ukraine should then be called genocide too just like any other war. The meaning of the word is about intent. Is one group slaughtering another group (based on ethnicity, nationality or religion) with the intent of wiping them off the face of the earth? That is genocide. The holocaust was genocide, the Rwanda mass slaughter was genocide, this is war with high numbers of collateral damage. These could be warcrimes for which Israel will have to justify itself but not every warcrime is genocide, every genocide is a warcrime though. Given the actual meaning of the word genocide it’s much more appropriate to call what Hamas did October 7th genocide considering their purpose is to kill *all* Jews.
