Albert Finney (Lemarc) arguably one of the best actors ever not to have won an Academy Award (nominated 5 times). His performance in Erin Brockovich, as was Julia Roberts', was outstanding.
@@codybuckland6292way more interesting to watch than the night fox doing it. That scene left quite an impression on me in my youth. That and her sword fight scene in Zorro.
22:20 The 'Lost in translation' was Danny, Rusty and Matsui messing with Linus talking all that bullshit and riddles in the cafe. It was a joke, kinda like messing with the inexperienced new guy
Julia Roberts was actually pregnant, but was due at the time the film was to be rekeased, so if you saw her at the premiere m, she would no longer need the fake bump. They wrote that storyline in when she told Soderberg she was pregnant. Frank was in jail the whole time as he was in the US filming The Bernie Mac show. Most of the cast stayed at, and parts of the film were shot at Clooney's house in Italy. (The house on the lake.) Tess was number 12. Catherine Zeta Jones is not 13 as she wasn't part of the heist. The shot of her falling out of her chair at the very end was real, as was her laighter at falling.
"What's that thing in his mouth?" THAT, my dear reactionary, is a breathing apparatus which was invented for James Bond's "Thunderball". By "invented" I of course mean it doesn't work in real life because there's no way to compress the oxygen that much.
I highly recommend Mask of Zorro (1998) for more Catherine Zeta-Jones. It's the movie that propelled her to fame, and it is _very good_. I guarantee you'll enjoy it a lot. It has action, adventure, swordplay, romance, dancing, and great humor.
Heya! Just a quick note, you have to put the period before the second _ or it screws up the italicizing. And great movie recommendation by the way! A little Antonio makes a good day! 💜
I've always thought Eddie Izzard (Roman Nagel) to be an interesting piece of casting in this movie and the next one because she's a British comedian, who also happens to be gay and now indentifies as a she. I came to know about her thanks to the British version of the improv show Whose Line is it Anyway. I grew up watching it in the 90s on Comedy Central.
I see one actor on here that appeared in one of the Bourne movies that reminds me that you haven't watched the trilogy yet. Fast action, interesting twisted plots, and explosions. The Bourne Identity is the first. I guarantee you will love them.
Here to recommend The Thomas Crown Affair again - such an excellent heist and romance movie!!!! (The remake with Pierce Brosnan, who you like looking at) haha
Yes! I’ve mentioned this one as well, especially when it seemed like she might eventually watch Brosnan’s Bond films. Thomas Crown is right up her alley.
Isabella wasn't in on the heist so she doesn't count. The mom is like the guy who beat up Danny. Involved, but not an equal share partner. Technically, Tess shouldn't be 12 fir that reason, but was essential to the fake heist.
so, the plot of the movie was ALL so that a dad, who missed his daughter, could see her again. It was the night fox who told on them to force them into the contest. once in the contest, they went to LaMarc, who then told them it was a set up of his doing so he could see his daughter again.
24:15 - I'm pretty sure the Fox's little dance through the lasers is a deliberate callback to Catherine Zeta Jone's similar pass through the lasers in Entrapment. Officially, the twelfth member is Tess, since she directly participates in the false heist.
In Ocean's Eleven, the opening credits noted 'Introducing Julia Roberts as Tess' in the same way they did in the 60's. In this film they turned that on its head by crediting 'Introducing Tess as Julia Roberts', foreshadowing her roll in the heist.
It was thanks to this movie and America's Sweethearts that I developed a crush on Catherine Zeta-Jones back when I was a teen. Such a stunning woman! Also doesn't hurt that her and Julia Roberts (who I have a ton of respect for) were in both movies.
Ocean's 13 is a return to the original formula that we enjoyed in Ocean's 11. This film had a very different vibe and style that made it kind of separate from the straight up heist mission in the first movie. Trust me that you will love the heist in Ocean's 13, with the addition of Al Pacino. A must see ending to the Ocean's movie trilogy.
Vincent Cassel did not need a stuntman for the laser dance. He is an expert in capoeira, a Brazilian dance-like martial art, and performed the entire dance himself. The lasers, however, were added in post.
aaah..... actually....."Ocean's 12" was too sophisticated for the American audience! it did well in Europe. "Ocean's 13" was dumbed way down, and American audiences loved it! most Americans say "Ocean's 13" is their favorite.
This is honestly my favorite of the Ocean's movies. The stakes are higher, and the heist is even better. And François Toulour's (Vincent Cassel) personal little heist through all those lasers is my most favorite part of this movie.
Hi, Beans! Contrary to popular belief, this is my favorite of the franchise. Maybe it's the foreign intrigue or the locations make it seem more exciting. Also, the musical score is fantastic. And what can you say about Catherine Zeta-Jones...hubba-hubba. Also contrary to popular belief, "Ocean's 8" is worth watching.
Not my favorite of the OG trilogy, but I love that capoeira through the lasers scene. This one does invoke a few more recommendations for you to watch. Cathrine Zeta Jones’ movie Entrapment is a must. Miller’s Crossing was mentioned in this and it is a great crime movie by the Cohen bros. I don’t know if you’ve done any of their movies yet, but they have a hell of a catalog for you to dive into. Banger after banger. I was gonna mention a Vincent Cassel movie but all I can think of is Irreversible but…no…that’s a ROUGH movie. He was in Black Swan, which is awesome. Not necessarily because of him but just a great movie he happened to be in.
It can be interesting in movies when they acknowledge the actor that plays one of the characters. Of course, it brings up the question of if people ever ask why the crew has people that look so much like George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Bernie Mac, etc. As with every video of yours, I recommend the movie Imagine Me & You, as well as Zsazsa Zaturnnah.
The actress you knew looked familiar is actor Cherry Jones. Julia Roberts, Albert Finney and Cherry Jones are all in the movie Erin Brockovich as well.
I really enjoyed this one, it is not as good overall as the first, but there are a lot of things I liked better. I love that Albert Finney (RIP) was in it, because I always loved him.
Tess could be the twelfth. She actually plays a role in the heist, though only in the fake-out part of the heist -- she is certainly there at the end when they break the news to Night Fox. Cherry Jones (Linus' mom) could be the twelfth, as her role is necessary for getting everyone out of prison. I like to think that they are both part of this game, but Bernie Mac spends the entire heist part of the movie in jail so Linus' mom and Tess count as 11 and 12. By the way, Bernie was ill during most of the filming of this movie (double pneumonia) but managed to recover well enough to shoot all of his scenes at the end. Eventually he was well enough to play a larger role in Ocean's Thirteen (and to film a remake of Guess Who's Coming to Dinner) before succumbing to pneumonia complications in 2008. BTW I'm one of the weirdos who believe that this is as good as the other films, especially the European settings and the music (especially the Ornella Vanoni recording of L'appuntamento).
hello ashleigh. julia roberts was actually pregnant while filming this movie, so her bump in the scenes that showed tess being pregnant was real - the other tess scenes were filmed in such a way as to hide the pregnancy
If you enjoy the "Caper" or "Heist" movies I'd encourage you to watch "Heist" starring Gene Hackman, Delroy Lindo and Danny Devito, and also "The Score" starring Robert Deniro and Ed Norton. and of course "Heat" starring Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino
Ashleigh, You should know that half the jibberish that George and Brad say is complete adlibbing and means nothing. They did it to mess with Matt Damon. Clooney is a notorious practical joker on set and with his friends and he really wanted to screw with Damon as much as possible so he and Brad came up with the idea to just make stuff up for their heist dialogue. This also occurred in Ocean's Eleven and will continue into Ocean's Thirteen.
I thought it was part of the script and it was their characters messing with Matt Damon's character. I didn't think it was just Clooney and Pitt messing with Damon. Interesting. Wonder if they did it in a single take...

Steven Soderbergh really tied a lot of the 11, 12, 13 trilogy together. In my opinion 12 was the least climatic of the series. There is something about the reveal at the end really not carrying the same impact. The Ocean's 8 just seems lack some of the new 'rat pack' vibe, and when Soderbergh pulled back to just being executive producer it kind of seemed like a copy of the style. There was originally going to be another film before Oceans 8 but Bernie Mac death in 2008 kind of made the crew not want to try to replace his character and really took the enthusiasm out of the project.
