      Just got my Theta ULS, as a second wing after 6 years flying under a Masala 3. I wanted a B for better performances as I'm doing a bit of XC now, but still pretty safe. I tested quite a lot of B wings (5 or 6 different wings from B- to B+) and I chose the Theta as it seemed to be the best choice for performance/security :)

      @simylein653 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Coming from an high A to this mid B I must say that this is a lovely wing. The handling is very neat and the break authority excellent. I can put this wing wherever I want in almost any thermal. I was surprised to find out that on launch it feels more tolerable than my previous one, advance really made this for those high alpine conditions I guess. I also found the stall point very forgiving with lots of safety margin. The brake poppers are the only thing I don’t like, but then again this encourages me to not stow them in flight, so maybe that’s a plus. I put around 40 hours on it so far and it’s just a fun wing which makes me happy to go out and fly.

    What a Stunner in the red white and blue ❤ i have an omega from rhe ULS series, you will love the weight and for me now, if a glider didnt have Nytonol reinforcement, I wouldn't buy it..
    if you're the pilot who could still drop a wing hard on its leading edge when groundhandling ? This probably isn't for you..
    It's expensive, no doubt. However, it is two gliders in one because it's also a hike and fly wing..
    And this opens up a whole new world.
    (After all, paragliding is an adventure sport for couch potatoes)
    Damn.... The red white and blue is pretty 😍

    • @flybubblecarlo
      @flybubblecarlo 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Although a not quite as light or compact as an Advance PI 2 or 3 (or similar), I think the Theta could be a perfect compliment to an Omega ULS (or similar). Although of course the Theta has higher pilot demands than the PI 2 and 3, the pilot demands are of course significantly lower than the Omega ULS (or similar), very easy for a pilot happy flying the Omega ULS (or similar), and the Theta offers significantly more performance than the PI 3 (which has more performance than the PI 2). And it has the nitinol rods, which the PI 2 doesn't, and the PI 3 only has in the two smallest sizes, 16 and 19! 🤓

    Thank you for this review. My main wing right now is an Ozone Lyght, which I love. Solid, the glide is seductive, the handling is a bit more crisp than the Photon. But I needed a easy to launch ultra lightweight wing for some of the more difficult hike and fly that we do here in the desert Southwest of the USA. The launches are almost universally horrible. They're tight, they're very snaggy, festooned with cactus, bushes, rocks and it's the kind of place where I really don't like to take my Lyght.
    So yesterday I ordered a Theta. I typically fly Ozone wings, this will be my first wing from Advance.
    Hopefully it will tide me over until 2025 when I can get the Swift 7.
    Right now they estimate 12 weeks before delivery! That's a long time to wait.

    With the XI discontinued, the Theta is now the only Advance ultra light B wing - despite being high B, the XI is an older design, how do you think they compare?

    • @flybubblecarlo
      @flybubblecarlo 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      From our testing, the XI was a great wing but the Theta is better in every regard. Lower pilot demands all-round, better performance and handling (responsiveness, agility). For info, we tested the XI very extensively, see our old review of this: th-cam.com/video/I9LnTZ8784c/w-d-xo.html

      @@CuivTheLazyGeek Glad to be of help, the whole aim of everything we do! 😊 From our extensive testing of the Xi in the past (great wing in it's time, although I'd have liked it to be more agile) and recent testing of the Theta, we expect pilots changing from the Xi to the Theta will miss nothing and be very happy. The Theta is better in every regard, we think. As far as we're concerned, the Theta could effectively be seen to be the replacement for the Xi, just with lower pilot demands. This is why we agree it makes sense to give it a new model name, rather than call it the Xi 2, because effectively the 'pilot target group' is different, and much wider (pretty much the same as the PHI Beat 2 Light). 🪂🪂😸😸

    Excellent review! I think another “who’s it for” would be as a 2nd wing for those who want a travel glider that is easier to manage while at the same time being easier to pack than their normal XC type kit. I’ve kept my old lightweight low B for this purpose, however I could see a Theta replacing it in the future.

    ℹ Flybubble Nancy and I have so far tested the THETA ULS in sizes 23, 25 and 27, in various parts of their weight ranges (from 1/3 to top loaded), with several harnesses (so far, Advance WEIGHTLESS, Niviuk Arrow P, Ozone Forza 2 and Woody Valley Race), in a good variety of conditions for at least 20 hours on several flying days over several weeks. They've had great opportunity to compare the THETA ULS to many other wings, of all levels, often close up! 🪂🪂🪂🪂🪂🪂🤓

    Super nice review thanks! How does it compare to the epsilon dls? I'm thinking about getting the Theta for my next wing, I have flown my beloved pi3 to death in all conditions and realised i need more performance crossing valleys and have tried the epsilon dls, the thenor light and the beat light. I liked them all but I think my heart is with the advance products and i would prefer an even lighter wing than the epsilon dls.

      The Advance Theta and PHI Beat 2 and Beat 2 Light are both great all-rounders. From our testing, these are the best all-round mid B wings available at the moment. To get an idea of the differences, watch this short (25 minute 😉) review of the Theta and then compare this to our slightly less short (37 minute 😏) review of the PHI Beat 2 and Beat 2 Light th-cam.com/video/CpDbyhHd7lY/w-d-xo.html

    • @flybubblecarlo
      @flybubblecarlo 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      One fundamental difference between these models is the sizes and weight ranges, as with all wing models. It might be that one suits you better. This is one of the key reasons we (Flybubble) offer so many top brands. Although this makes our work a lot more challenging, it means our customers get a wide choice of what we believe is the very best flying gear available. We don't offer everything, just what we believe is the best: flybubble.com/

    I'm curious, how would you compare it with the Arak Air which has basically the same specs? In term of behavior and accessibility. (I found the arak air to have quite some energy and a lot of transmission of information, for its class)

    • @flybubblecarlo
      @flybubblecarlo 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Having extensively tested the Arak and Arak Air (see our reviews) these are a very good wings however the Theta and Beat 2 / light have clearly surpassed them in terms of performance - and, from our testing, we feel the overall ease of use, safety and handling (agility, responsiveness) are all better, in our opinion. To be fair, the Theta and Beat 2 / light are much newer models (but it's not just because of that). If I was looking at a mid B wing, I'd be choosing between the Theta and Beat 2 or Beat 2 light.

      @flybubblecarlo 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Glad you like the review. I agree with you, I'm not a big fan of soft links, mostly because they are less dimensionally stable than maillons, which are pretty much 100% dimensionally stable. However, they have proven to be fine (otherwise top brands like Advance and others wouldn't continue to use them) and do save a little weight. Anyway, if a pilot really doesn't like soft links these can be easily changed to maillons (the wing is delivered with soft links, the pilot would have to buy the maillons and swap them over, or pay a good paraglider service centre to do it for them).
