    MLS is leaving a bunch of major league cities open for USL, such as Buffalo, Cleveland, Sacramento, and cities already in USL such as Detroit, Milwaukee and Tampa Bay..

      In order for a team to be in MLS an ownership group needs to buy there way in my dude. Get a billionaire to drop more than half a billion and then all these other small markets can have a team. I think MLS is ok with having USL have the scraps.

      More eyeballs = more competition. These major markets could begin to chip away at mls dominance.

    My question is why ddnt they just bring up FC Buffalo? This is what I really hate about MLS and USL now. Its so fucking simpile. If there is a team in the potential new market, just bring that team in!
    Edit: Hey glad im not the only one who mentioned FC Buffalo.

      The reason is that USL2 is not a professional league and the jump into professional soccer requires exponentially more money. USL2 ownership groups don't usually have those kind of resources.
      The expansion fees alone cost like $20 million, but the real cost is travel across the US, paying a full professional roster, building a stadium, and paying for full-time staff rather than relying on volunteers. USL2 rosters are basically volunteer--it's college kids playing during summer. Those guys aren't available for a full-season league unless they want to give up NCAA eligibility. Most of the stadiums USL2 teams occupy also aren't available year-round because they belong to schools/universities who are using them during the other 3 seasons.

    it's very unfortunate for us in Rochester to have lost our team, they built a 10,000 seat stadium and were doing well enough , I think Buffalo fans will appreciate it more and it will do well. They should be drawing some fans from Rochester that will make the trip west on I-90 like myself a few times a year.

    USL should built coast to coast divisions of 16 to 18 each. The best would be a midwest-northeast, a Atlantic south-south central and a western division. The USL will benefit from local derbies and fans being able to travel to away games. Boston playing Worcester or San Francisco playing Sacremento are more attractive than Detroit vs. Miami.

    Growing up in a Ohio, I only new about MLS & Columbus. I've since moved to Pittsburgh & started following USL & the Riverhounds. Buffalo would be a great addition to the league & rival to Pittsburgh. I agree with adding more midwestern teams but make sure it's the right market to avoid it folding. Love your videos. Also correct on pushing back. Boise actually had an official announcement of joining USL Championship barring a multi-use sports complex that would house both a baseball stadium for the minor league team Boise Hawks and the Boise USL club but the deal fell through. Manchester, NH too but nothing else has come to fruition but the plan is still there despite New England Revolution putting their reserve club in New Hampshire (undermining USL again by MLS) but the owners aren’t quitting. Des Moines is another. They had one in place but something is up with getting that stadium built (also people are still hoping it’s the Menace that is the pro club instead of a new one). New Orleans is another

      @@USLInsight I think the karma gods are hitting MLS right now. Messi has been out for a while and missed tonight’s CONCACAF cup first leg. Miami lost and now head to Monterey down 2-1. I like Messi but MLS has really gone full on greedy once they landed him and the Apple deal. Cause I know people would only join MLS Season Pass for Messi. Otherwise Apple prolly could’ve Cullen the deal soon (I looked it up and Apple can if they aren’t satisfied).

    So it is happening after all. I remember hearing about this like a few years ago of Buffalo getting a team but no news about anything happened. Same with a possible team in Wilmington, NC (this is something I’m against. 1) we don’t need another team in a state that has a club, 2) Wilmington doesn’t sound like they’ll draw a crowd like Central Valley and South Georgia) as well as a team in Oregon from some semi-pro club looking to go pro

      Cupsets! Ventura County FC (formerly LA Galaxy II) fall 3-0 to Irvine Zeta of NISA and northern Colorado is able to get the win in extras over Colorado Rapids 2. Only 3 remain from MLSNP: NYCFC II (they played Red Bulls II so at least one was advancing anyways), Chicago Fire II, and Carolina Core (I watched that match the most and feel Vermont was robbed cause ref seemed like he played favorites for Carolina in the second half). NISA has 2 left: Irvine of course I mentioned and Michigan Stars (the club’s owner who thinks he has a play for MLS one day). USL League One will have 8: Richmond, Charlotte, South Georgia, Greenville, Chattanooga, Omaha, Northern Colorado, and Spokane. NPSL with 2: El Farolito (the Cinderella darlings named after a Mexican restaurant) & Lubbock Matadors and Miami United of the USSL (I guess a regional league) are the other 3 that round out the 16 who’ll match up with USL Championship clubs in round 3

    • @rochesterjohnny7555
      @rochesterjohnny7555 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There's no promotion and relegation based on performance on the field. What happens with teams like FC Cincinnati is that they start in USL and build a large enough stadium, sell enough tickets, get enough investors, and then buy their way into MLS. So in a way it is like promotion but it is based on financial resources. We had a USL team in Rochester that used to get 6000-7000 attendance per game and at one time floated the idea of going into MLS but could not get enough investment to buy their way in. Some teams like Pittsburgh in USL have a smaller stadium and get attendance of about 4000 per game. Some teams have larger stadiums in USL like Sacramento and have plans to eventually buy their way into MLS and get over 10,000 per game. FC Cincinnati was getting huge crowds in their last year in USL of over 20,000 and had the top flight atmosphere going already.

    Between MLS 2024 and USL Championship 2024, the latter is a truly national league, unlike the former. Now, the context of 'national league' I'm talking about here is a sports league where each team plays all the other teams in the league at least once per season. As you may have known, USLC teams play intra-conference rivals twice and inter-conference ones once. Therefore, the team with the best overall regular season record has indeed achieved that after playing EVERYONE, similar to many top European and South American leagues. MLS teams don't, so instead of being a national league, not playing some teams at all in a season, perhaps it's basically a 'regional league'.
