    This song was placed so perfectly in this movie. Right after they got passed the cops and they were all happy, relieved, and having fun. This song added so much feel good affect to this awesome/fun movie. I’m one of those Bad News Bears fans that likes BNB Breaking Training better than the first BNB. On the other hand, the 3rd one was a train wreck.

      I could not agree more. This was certainly the best of the three. Come to think of it, they should have just quit with this one. A great movie and even better song!

    • @habovay3
      @habovay3 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I used to think Breaking Training was the best of the three when I was much younger, but as I got older and learned to better appreciate good writing, especially comedy writing, the 1976 original remains the crown jewel of the trilogy. Breaking Training is actually pretty sappy and chock full of plot holes. BUT . . . it's still a fun watch for nostalgic reasons.

    • @verbalkint4052
      @verbalkint4052 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@habovay3 I also appreciate good writing, especially comedy writing, and still enjoy Breaking Training more. Just like the other two people you responded to. While I realize that the original is held in higher esteem by the masses, personal taste is a very subjective thing.
      Admittedly, the 1st movie has a better story, and isn't just a comedy but a drama too. But to me Breaking Training was a lot more fun. While Walter Matthau is considered a better actor historically and his character was explored in much greater depth, I actually liked William Devane's character better. I also enjoyed seeing Kelly Leak and the other characters grown up a bit more and taking matters into their own hands.

      Yes...when this song played in the movie that was one of the best scenes in the Bad News Bears franchise. Illegally driving along in a van with your teammates, no cares, no parental supervision, just boys being boys and having the time of their life.

      smichaelb1980 I was a child of the 80s, not the 70s, but I believe both eras represent nostalgia, simpler times, and far more fun and personal freedom than what modern society offers.

      I was just a little younger than the characters in this movie when it came out. This song brings up a well of emotion - a time when my father was still alive and young and healthy, a time of just being a care free kid - no worries, mortgage payments, or stress. I can play this song and go back to that time but it's very bittersweet.

      What was great was that even though we had video games back in the late 70s, it didn’t dominate our lives. We would go to the arcade or the whatever store that had Pac-Man or space ace (space ace came out early 80s) & after an hour or so we played ball. We didn’t lock ourselves in our house for hours trying to beat king koopa. We played ball, tag, hide & seek, rode our bikes, & a lot of other things to keep us in shape. We played Star Wars all the time. Used flashlights as lightsabers & made costumes. That era of innocent fun & creativity is gone. In its place are tik tok, Twitter, Facebook, etc. kids nowadays are missing out on the real way to kill time & have fun.

    Not a care in the world back then, our family was all young and still around for us and we felt safe and loved. Yet we as kids thought our parents were just so old, and now we find ourselves as old as they once were! Listenin' to teachers tell us how time will just fly by as we grow up, while all we wanted was for the clock in class to just fly by. Man, I truly do miss those times. It's sad we don't see how wonderful they are while we're living them, until we grow up and want them back. ~So sad~

    • @Youngbloodz33
      @Youngbloodz33 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's not sad buddy sometimes it feels like it can be. But you lived it and you wouldn't trade it for nothing in the world. I used to feel just like that but one thing I learned is that there's gonna come a time as well when you look back you look back at the time you write this, or the time I write this and wish I could go back to right here right now..

Imagine having no worries, no fears, no sadness, only joy to the ultimate dancing every morning you awoke to the sun shining. Yep that was the 1970's when everything was right with the world and Heavens. The music was a BIG factor and the sun did shine brighter back then. Thank you God for those days.

    In case no one has noticed, it has the same beginning notes as Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture. That was in keeping with the original movie's playing of classical music. It's been years since I saw this movie, but I think even the credits give some mention of Tchaikovsky, such as "suggested by" or some such thing.

      The 70's sucked. NONE of the social conveniences taken for granted now. No smartphones, no debit VISA/MC cards to casually swipe, no PCs, no internet. The "phone company" ruled then in a monopoly--and were viciously expensive. You needed credit to get a house phone and had to wait days for them to hook it up. Everything was SLOW...you wrote letters that went into envelopes, which required stamps and were sent via 'snail mail'. What takes a day now, took weeks or months then. Life didn't begin to get interesting until the 90's when Nokia phones, the start of the consumer internet, and early PCs emerged.

      Which is quite sad, because it's more real than the BS they peddle today. Yes, the racist language is offensive. It was offensive back then too. But it's reality. People did and do talk like that. Some for racists reasons, some not. Not including this kinda stuff nowadays for PC reasons makes certain people feel better, but it's still not reality. That's what makes me appreciate the likes of say Quentin Tarantino. His movies are often blasted for offensive language and violence. But his movies are realistic wrt dialog. And when it comes to the Bad News Bears, the way the kids acted and talked was also more realistic than the cookie cutter dialog we mostly get today.

      The first two Bad News Bears movies were my favorites as a kid. Would pretty much watch them in a constant loop and to this day I could probably recite every line from both of them. My question is... why didn't the Yankees play in Houston? They were the actual champs. I know, there wouldn't have been a sequel... but it's sort of a plot hole.

    • @lakebay972
      @lakebay972 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@gamedaddy9323 Not really, at the end of the first movie, Lupus tells the Yankees, "Just wait 'til next year"; so, this sequel takes place immediately after the following season; and it's implied that the Bears defeated the Yankees (or whomever); thus, making themselves The California Champs. The Yankees were the '76 Champs while The Bears were the '77 Champs; and this sequel begins immediately after that championship game. It's smart they didn't show scenes of the game or the highlights because it would've slowed down the pace and rehashed basically the same story in the first movie; but with a different ending and predictable plot. However, in the sequel, when the boys visit a sick Lupus at his house, they go on about how he was the star of the ('77 championship) game and how he earned everyone's respect.

    I caught the movie on one of my obscure basic cable sports channels recently, after not seeing it since it was in the theater in the late 70s (I was born in 1970). HUGE nostalgia vibes (I immediately went on TH-cam afterward to find this end-credit song). Seeing the movie again corrected some of my flawed 7 year-old memories - I would have bet anything that it was Kelly who hit everyone in to win the game at the end, but it was the pitcher, Carmen (Sorry for the spoiler, but you had 44 years to watch it now).

    Love this song, I was playing my second year of little league baseball at 11 years old in Savannah Georgia when this movie came out. Damn, looking back and hearing that song reminds me of how good things were and how simple life was as a kid playing a game I loved playing. Its amazing how a song can make you reminisce such good times.

    Looking Good (Our Time Is Now) Music by Craig Safan sung by James Rollston -Versions of this song are available on The Bad News Bears Trilogy (CD's collection )
    However, not this version as another one plays with completely different lyrics and there are 2 instrumental versions as well.
    I've loved this song since I saw the movie when it was in the theaters (summer of 1977) when I was 12 and it has hauntingly always stayed with me - incredibly nostalgic and the lyrics have also always stayed with me as I would sing this song often in my life when life is looking good:
    The road is open and we're rolling thru and life is looking good
    We got a dream that maybe could come true and life is looking good
    If we just stay loose now we'll come out alright
    There's something telling me our time is now
    It's just a whisper but I know somehow
    We've got to listen got to do it now
    Life is looking good for you and me
    The clouds have parted and the sun's come thru and life is looking good
    There's nothing that can beat all we can do and life is looking good
    If we hold together we're gonna be alright
    There's something telling me our time is now
    It's just a whisper but I know somehow
    We've got to listen got to do it now
    Life is looking good for you and me
    If we just stay loose now we're gonna be alright

Glad it's atleast here on you tube...if you do find it let me know. Good luck.

    I like how the composer of this song intentionally quotes from the 1812 Overture, which itself was used often throughout the Bad News Bears series. (Listen to that melody when the background girls sing "There's something telling me the time is now.")

    In July 2012 I wrote to Craig Safan (composer of this song) and I asked few informations about this song. 4 months later he responded me..
    "Hi Dan
    Thanks for your kind words about my music!
    Unfortunately the soundtrack of "Bad News Bears In Breaking Training" has never been released. I am hoping one of the soundtrack labels will make a cd of it and it will include the song "Lookin' Good". I wrote the music and Norman Gimbal wrote the lyrics. The singer was John Joyce.

      Hey the soundtrack has now been released in a 3CD set (one disc for each movie) on Quartet Records (Spain). The crying shame is that the movie version of this track has been left out! Only a studio version & some instrumentals :(. Must have been a copyright problem getting it licensed.
