That unit at the beginning is a grinding/polishing station for metallography applications. Its used to polish samples before putting them under a microscope for inspection. It can be combined with etchant chemicals to highlight the grain structures in metal samples. It would be useful for someone doing materials R&D.

Hi that machine with the two discs is for polishing microsections, they take a piece of circuit board and mount it in plastic then polish down to see the plating in the holes by microscope. you can measure the thickness of the plating. If you looked at the circuit boards you found the other day you can see some of these samples wrapped with the board. We make boards here in the UK for you guys in the US.
I think Mike is behind the mysterious drones, He found enough stuff in the dumpster and built himself one for looking into the dumpsters without having to get out the truck.
