What a marvelous setting! I will add this one to my growing collection of your fine sheet music. Superb playing as well. Rotterdam was never played with such heart and beauty!
A charming setting of 'Amazing Grace' with the effect of a Piper! I believe that in Scotland, such a 'lament' would probably be known as a 'Pibroch'. Bravo on another lovely composition of a much-loved hymn tune!
Paul, you play these pieces with the heart and "holiness" the composers intended. There are good "technicians" but it is as if you search the meaning of each note with love within your heart. And then your socks .... the kid in you makes me laugh. Have a wonderful future.
Do you have some suggested registrations to go with the sheet music for the bagpipe-inspired version of "Amazing Grace"? I purchchased the music score for use at my wife's memorial service when that time comes. She and I are now nearly 88 years old and I thought this would be most appropriate for her service as she loves bag pipes. we arenot in any hurry for either of us to pass but are tying to be snsitive about that time when it comes. I might consider using this earlier for a special occasion.

I have heard many arrangements of this hymn tune and this must be one of the best without a doubt, lovely harmonies Sound of the pipes very good and accurate and I liked the drone on the pedal. Difficult to pull off as the pipes have a very distinct sound. Now I wonder if anyone has ever sampled the bagpipes, guess it could be done. I pictured this being played at the Edinburgh Military Tattoo at the castle. That would be a first, an organ on the esplanade, hmm. Not sure if you are a fan of Andre Rieu, but that piece regularly brought tears to the eyes of his audiences. Your arrangement will do the same to whoever plays your score. Well done young man!

Your bagpipe effect is one of the most innovative ideas I've heard on the organ. This is a really beautiful arrangement! What stop(s) are you using for the solo?
Thank you so much, Michael!! For the Bagpipe effect I‘ve used the Chamades of the Organ coupled to the Swell (III.) which was using the 8‘+4‘ principals as well as the mixtures and mutations + Tremulant On 😀
You've got the tonal structure of the bagpipe down pure, Paul. You understand it. Do you know the story behind the writing of this hymn? It might break your heart to learn of it because it runs the gamut of viciousness and hate unto the breaking of the hardest of hearts into a contrite mass of brokeness "like a wretch like me". When the writer pens "Amazing Grace", he means it and he knows why! Those are the words. The tune is older, of course, and very Scottish. By the way, a masterful Bach during the BIS Festival. The Big Man in the Wig smiled, I'm certain!
