Almost $50,000 US! Harley Davidson has become so far out of touch with its customer base. I just bought a RE on Monday from a large HD dealer and the sales staff including the manager were extremely unhappy and worried with the new line up and pricing. They have well over 100 bikes in the show room with the starting prices of $17,000 and on up. They are all 22’s and 23’s and they aren’t flying off the showroom floors. Their RE’s sell but not as fast as they thought with prices between $5 and $7,000. I got mine for $6,000 out the door. Times are tough, inflation is high and a $600.00 month payment for a motorcycle for 60 plus months is ridiculous to most.
Can you expand more on what you mean? I am hesistant to get a Harley. Because some of their dual shock models have been noted to have bad handling (don't look up videos). And because of the stigma that Harley bikes have. Riding a Japanese bike, you don't feel obligated to dress with the most expensive name brand clothing. Note that the Harley riders in my area in the USA, they will ONLY buy a Harley, and they know nothing about any other motorcycle brand. Imagine being so loyal to one brand that you don't even look in the direction of other bikes?

Harley is doing well. I see their original air cooled engines getting more popular by the day. Where I live, Harley are by far the most popular motorcycles, and you almost feel like an outlier riding a sportbike. I don't own a Harley, but just think about how lucky we are that Harley still makes the single crankpin aircraft engine on their bikes. Talk about unique!? Nothing sounds better than a single crank pin 60 degree V-Twin at idle, because of the strange irregular pulses, it's one of the most soothing sounds at idle.
Owned HD for a year. Great to Ride on smooth paved roads that have gentle bends. Outside of that, it sucked! So I got rid of it for a BMW, couldn’t be happier with my decision!
HD are cowards for not putting the rev max into a naked bike that undercuts the FTR and Streetfighter line. Its literally the hottest market in bikes right now. Just zero awarness of where the market for new buyers is.
I bought a new Moto Guzzi V100S fully decked out for 2-up touring along with an additional 5-year warranty for $22,000. Didn’t even consider a Harley-Davidson because they’re so underpowered, heavy and super expensive. Ugly too IMHO.
How has the V100 been for 2-up touring? I'm looking to trade in my beloved but heavy FJR and my top 3 options currently are the V100S, Multi V2S, and Tracer 9GT+. Would love to know your thoughts on the V100!
@@cameronparker8202 I’m still waiting on some accessories to be delivered and installed so I’m not able to give a review at this time. I did take a test ride solo and I really did enjoy that! I’m hoping to be ready to ride by sometime in March. It seems like the ongoing problems in the Red Sea have caused a major delay on everything. I’d highly recommend that you you take a test ride if possible!
I only took a short test ride and I loved it. Now it’s looking like sometime in March before I can bring it home. It sucks, but it’s winter here in Virginia and I’m glad I didn’t wait any longer than I did.
I don’t mind the super premium stuff. There’s people that want to spend. But what annoys me is their only “entry level” bike is the Nightster. And I’m not ragging on it but come on, seriously Harley, make the Bronx at least.

Power to weight ratio is so important for M8s and that's why I love my 2022 FXLRS, the 117 wants to literally jump out of the frame, for a sub 700lb bike, it's like riding on top of a train. In my opinion the FXLRS and ST is HD best ever. The new 121 Road glide ST is a step in the right direction, but dropping 40k plus for one is insane.🤘

Edit: I'll take a Road Glide ANY DAY. I have tried both fairing styles on the Touring Rigs at leisure and at my height the handlebar mounted fairing of the Street Glide gives me LOTS of buffeting/head wobble and wind noise at 70mph and the extra mass slows down my steering inputs. I like the torque laden feeling of the air/oil cooled 2V engines but I wouldn't mind trying an H-D Chimera (a 2024 RG Limited with a DOHC Revolution Max 1250 engine) . . . for Science, Shits and Giggles.
I prefer the less elaborate handlebar fairing for around town riding as it gives better visibility around the front wheel. For the Pan America, a top box would suit me fine with the automatic electronic ride adjustment system. They are a lot of fun to ride on backroads.
I sat on a HD heritage model, (first time ever sitting on a HD) and being quite tall it was very comfortable but I can’t get over the price, the weight and the image of midlife crisis dads (or gang members on their sportier models). I also sat on the x500 that wasn’t bad for comfort and it seems quite impressive for the price but I still feel like they can do better
The CVO Pan America was unexpected but I wish Harley would have it an updated it instead. Especially the front head light and windscreen. Being here in the US that's they only thing about the bike that has prevented me from buying one.
It'll be interesting to see the variations they come up with for the Road Glides for those that want the t-bar setup with that massive screen, it'll be impossible not to block. Then again, most t-bar guys don't want the TFT displays.
In Spain the Panamerica had 2 to 3 k in discounts last month, so I was expecting news coming from the most affordable part of the spectrum. They came up with this, which is gorgeous but I don’t see it as a super seller.
@motobob When HD says, "Most horsepower and torque ever, from a production Harley Davidson" I presume they're talking about combined. Revmax 1250 does make more power but a lot less torque. Combined, the CVO sits at 272 vs 244 for the Pan Am. I realize that's a slightly odd way of looking at it though.
I have to say. I love Harley’s. I love the brand. I love the style. They are properly beautiful bikes. But they have completely and utterly lost the plot on pricing. Due to this I rather expect they won’t exist in the next ten years. Some of the mainstream manufacturers are having a hard time so I can’t imagine it’s better for them. I had a 2020 low rider s for a year but ended up selling it because the build quality was awful. I would have another one but it would be an old dyna superglide. £40k for a bloody motorcycle is absolutely mental.
Crazy price for museum pieces (outside the panam, god is it gorgeous) Who in their right mind buy this for more than a K1600B, a MV agusta Brutale RR, Ducatis Diavel V4, Xdiavel or Multistrada V4S. All decked up high performance machine in all the different shape and taste. All way better than a HD for less money.
Don’t own a HD but have ridden quite a few. My favourite being the Low Rider S. Quality on the modern Harleys is excellent and they have a personality on them other brands find difficult to match. Lots of HD hater comments are naive as they’ve never even ridden one. Educate yourself before making judgment.
Maybe they are, but they are pricing themselves out of reach of like 95% of the riders so their bikes simply don't sell. It's not the 60s anymore but seems harley forgot it, even despite the new CEO. They're dying as a brand and refusing to acknowledge the situation.
As a longtime Harley Rider these new bikes don't even make sense to us. Prices have become insane and the bikes are out of touch with what riders like me want. There's nothing on the showroom floor in 2024 that makes me want to trade in the Harley I already have.

The new 117s are VVT with 107 hp and 175 Nm plus they should have better drivability than the non-VVT 117, meaning better low-end torque for these big touring bikes.
@@kd5zwf Well would you look at that 😮 I figured they were all VVT because they have the VVT timing cover and I thought those kind of power figures couldn't be achieved without VVT. Makes you wonder what kind of torque figures they're making down low. A 127 horsepower 121 cid engine is on a completely different level compared to a 117 making 103 horsepower or a 114 making 86 horsepower. Making that much more horsepower on a street legal, normally aspirated engine usually means sacrificing torque at low rpm.

Yea they lost their marbles with these prices. You know how bad I want a Harley but know its a terrible purchase due to price? And then the dealerships want to tack on a 3-5k markup depending on sales and which bike. We all want a 911 but practical people will buy a nice Toyota instead. Maybe there are enough insane people that pay these prices. But lord knows they are out of touch.
The front of the Road Glide is ugly, probably is very protective, but it ruins the shape of that bike. The Street Glide is much better. Even the front of Panamerica is not very good, let me say acceptable, but the color of the CVO is very nice. Anyway with that configuration it surely weighs a lot. Thanks for the video.

20 years ago, and more, I loved Harleys and aspired to own one. I test rode some sportsters and loved the experience so much that I had one tattooed on me... unfortunately, times changed and my situation meant that I was going to have to hold off for a while. Now Harley just sell absolute overpriced total rubbish. They should have very slowly started changing their lineup 30 years ago. Triumph have managed to have a good range of classic looking bikes. The new sportsters look absolutely terrible... most of their other bikes are ridiculous.
I’m struggling to see any redeeming qualities in any of these bikes. I would have loved a Fat Boy back in the 90’s, but can’t see anything to entice me to buy one of these ugly looking dinosaurs.

this bike is like a Tesla without the battery, it make the Rushmore years look Retro or a Throwback to when Harley was Harley..Im overwhelmed with all the electronics 22 or so buttons on the handlebars, UGLY fairing on the RG I dont even think u can change out the headlight. NO analog Gauges lol, its all on a Telsa 12in screen smh..thinner bags to save on the weight. but for the people thats new to grand touring or people that have to have the newest stuff for 25k thats a cheap price for a RG/SG. id buy again an old CVO before i buy the new ones..
I have 2 Harleys, if Harley Davidson disappears off the planet I couldn't care less. Who would buy a "premium" car knowing you have to change the seats, exhaust and give it a tune to be on par with other brands. They are decent bikes but not good enough for the price. The 117 isn’t new. It’s been around since 2022. There’s also a 131 and 135 crate motor available through Harley Parts.

But this has variable valve timing so it's got a little more hp and torque plus what Harley calls better fuel efficiency
I have a wee bit of a soft spot for HD but they really have to make the product better and lower the price or face the consequences.

My 2002 Kawasaki Nomad has the same. No probs.

VVT's are only on the CVO. The CVO ST is not VVT. The regular Glides do not have VVT.

Adaptive Ride Height on the Pan America is a true innovation you don’t see on other adventure bikes

Yea they lost their marbles with these prices. You know how bad I want a Harley but know its a terrible purchase due to price? And then the dealerships want to tack on a 3-5k markup depending on sales and which bike. We all want a 911 but practical people will buy a nice Toyota instead. Maybe there are enough insane people that pay these prices. But lord knows they are out of touch.
The front of the Road Glide is ugly, probably is very protective, but it ruins the shape of that bike. The Street Glide is much better. Even the front of Panamerica is not very good, let me say acceptable, but the color of the CVO is very nice. Anyway with that configuration it surely weighs a lot. Thanks for the video.
CVO = too expensive. Quick shifter on an all road bike like the Pan Am is stupid, and apparently theirs is rubbish.
Not for me any of them and way over priced, HD need to do better to survive. A CVO version of the PA which they cant sell in standard form who do they think will buy the overpriced CVO one?

20 years ago, and more, I loved Harleys and aspired to own one. I test rode some sportsters and loved the experience so much that I had one tattooed on me... unfortunately, times changed and my situation meant that I was going to have to hold off for a while. Now Harley just sell absolute overpriced total rubbish. They should have very slowly started changing their lineup 30 years ago. Triumph have managed to have a good range of classic looking bikes. The new sportsters look absolutely terrible... most of their other bikes are ridiculous.

I’m struggling to see any redeeming qualities in any of these bikes. I would have loved a Fat Boy back in the 90’s, but can’t see anything to entice me to buy one of these ugly looking dinosaurs.

this bike is like a Tesla without the battery, it make the Rushmore years look Retro or a Throwback to when Harley was Harley..Im overwhelmed with all the electronics 22 or so buttons on the handlebars, UGLY fairing on the RG I dont even think u can change out the headlight. NO analog Gauges lol, its all on a Telsa 12in screen smh..thinner bags to save on the weight. but for the people thats new to grand touring or people that have to have the newest stuff for 25k thats a cheap price for a RG/SG. id buy again an old CVO before i buy the new ones..

I have 2 Harleys, if Harley Davidson disappears off the planet I couldn't care less. Who would buy a "premium" car knowing you have to change the seats, exhaust and give it a tune to be on par with other brands.
They are decent bikes but not good enough for the price.
