I like the blocky look. It looks like something Robocop or Judge Dredd would ride. I've seen complaints about the reliability but I think HD is going in the right direction with these news 975/1250 bikes

The quickshifter is garbage, the HD flash for it is dangerous and causes engine stalling during downshift, removed mine and soon I hope to remove the Pan America from my garbage permanently, such a pile of hot garbage.

Don’t understand people who think this bike is ugly. So many other ADVs have a “beak” ( like the GS ) which is far, far uglier. None of them are beauties but this isn’t so bad - especially in black. I could own a black one. Looks good.

    • @nashonabo821

Yeah i like it because it still says harley davidson to me kind of like how porsches and BMWs have their own root ancestral looks

    • @starseeddeluxe
      @starseeddeluxe 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

Yeah the Harley isn't ugly. It's an awesome looking bike. The English and other people across the pond don't seem to like the front end on the Pan America, but it's clearly just a weird unconscious disdain they have for American things. American people seem to universally like the Pan America. If it was an "Indian" motorcycle, I think everyone would love it, because Indian doesn't have the controversial reputation and stigma of Harley.

Best selling adventure bike in North America by quite a large margin. They completely sold out their 2021 production.
Pretty hard to argue with that especially for a first effort in the market segment.
I like the look. Only qualms are with reliability. I'm fairly certain that 2022 production will have improved things.

At the risk of sounding like a fanboy (which I am) if I’m buying a big adventure bike, which I might be, I’m getting the Pan America. It’s the only American ADV bike in existence, it’s got an unmistakable, undeniable, look all it’s own, and it’s a Harley Davidson. Come on.

  • @cmscms123456
    @cmscms123456 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Im stunned by this bike.. A Harley Davidson... REALLY? IT looks like a 13 year old went though an old JC Whitney catalog and bought every motorcycle part, regardless if it fit or not and put it all on this bike... Nothing matches... I can't believe this is a factory look...

The Panam look really grew on me. At first the stylized shark-nose was strange, but now I really like how it looks.
I will buy a big ADV next year and HD is currently my top choice (I’m in Europe btw) while I still think about the Multristrada V4S.
But HD definitely passed over the GS, that still may be THE best adv but honestly just having something different is attractive.

I have a 2022 special and absolutely love it. My BMW sits in the garage now. The Pan America is much more road friendly, much better feel in the corners and feels so much lighter. The only down fall I have with the Pan America is the lack of engagement with the starter on occasions. Great review on your part Thank you.

Very fair review, I personally think this is the sexiest big ADV on the market (Desert X wins for midsize and Himalayan wins for small size, IMO).
I really disagree with Harley omitting the orange/white/black color way, I really started to associate that color scheme with the model itself, similar to a Kawasaki being the green bike, Ducati being the red bike, etc. I think they should bring it back in 2023.
Your thoughts on the new liquid cooled Sportster are a bit of a bummer, hopefully they get that addressed quickly. They’ll eventually release the Bronx (and perhaps a midsize adv…please) with that engine, so that’s gonna need to be a critical focus for the engineers considering how prominent that 900-1000cc class is for those respective size classes across the industry.
Overall exciting stuff from the bar and shield, I’d love to have a bit more disposable income to have a PanAm to roadtrip North America on.

No... No... No... If I can not able to repair my bike I will not buy one. I own a 93FXRS LowRider Convertable. STOCK. I can fix my Harley at home. I have very little problems with it VERY little and have done everything shown. It does look cool though and I'm okay with it being water cooled. BUT I KNOW HD BUSINESS MODEL AND NEWER BIKES WHEN THEY GO DOWN ITS EXPENSIVE REPAIRS BILLS BY A CERTIFED TECHNICTION THAT IS NOT A BIKE MECHANIC.

MCN said they dynoed a stock 2021 Pan America at 145 rear wheel horsepower. WOW! That's pretty close to a first generation Hayabusa. Usually you lose about 18 horsepower at the rear wheel on a chain bike, so the Pan America appears to be making more power than advertised. The crankshaft horsepower is somewhere north of 160 horsepower. Every Harley owner should experience the power of the Pan America.

  • @jameshamilton3348

Honstley I think Harley should stick to what they're (cough* kinda) good at. Low tide touring bikes. They've stepped into the adventure bike space as Johnny come latelys with very little thought for what adventure riders want.
It's not as all-round capable as the GS, it's not as rugged and off-road oriented as the KTM.
It's a happy medium between the 2 and it's more expensive than both.
Basically they've made a Harley Davidson with a higher seat height ground clearance. That's does not make it an adventure bike in my opinion. it's a touring bike for those who are a little taller than the average Harley rider.

I purchased a 2021 model mainly because I got a great trade-in price on my H-D Ultra Limited. I’d love a big Ducati Multistrada, but honestly, I probably couldn’t afford an oil change let alone a full service, coming very close would be a KTM 1290 Super Adventure, probably on the same par as the Ducati but I couldn’t get a good trade-in. Despite being a Brit and my wife riding a Triumph Street Triple, I probably wouldn’t have entertained a big Tiger and even though getting a HOG puts me into a ‘questionable grouping’, there’s no way I could go with a dad BMW GS even though they do set a standard for big Adv bikes.
I’m very happy with the Pan America Sport and think H-D has done an amazing job for a 100% brand spanking new model release. There’s really nothing that bothers me about the bike except the way H-D clearly cheaped out on the infotainment system. Why couldn’t they have adopted Android Auto or Apple CarPlay rather than waste money on the half-ass integration using the phone and apps. Strangely I found the H-D Ride Planner worked fine on my Ultra. Finally the looks, I was amused by the Jeep on two wheels comment, yes the Pan Am looks quite industrial and at the end of the day aesthetics are a personal ‘thang’, I think it looks cool and did follow the normal mix of Transformers and Insect front ends that pretty much all other plays choose from.
Last two words - ‘Dealership network’; clearly H-D are at an advantage in the US with dealerships on every corner, ok every major city and even some that aren’t major towns, this is a big seller and will certainly help H-D keep a foot holding in the Adv market while they continue to develop more models based on the Revolution Max.

On March 23rd I bought this exact same bike in the US ….long story short…I had use of the bike for 244 miles and it has been in HD Service since April 13 with no fix in sight. Immediately after riding out of the showroom the large TFT display cut off then rebooted, repeatedly and intermittently. After 7 hours trying to find the cause of the display problem…the dealer said they could not find the fault and must call in an expert from HD corporate. That was 10 days ago and no fix in sight. This is my first Harley and likely now it looks like my last Harley….unless the bike is fixed soon it will be Lemon Law time to demand a full refund. Massive Disappointment. Never had an issue like this with my Triumph Tiger 900.

I like the hydraulic lifters & no valve adjustments, but don't like the chain drive. I don't like being stuck with dealing with HD moco bs and its dealers for parts. Also HD techs are the folks that are not the ones you want looking at the bike when warranty issues arise with these relatively high tech bikes.

Though I do like the new HDs like this Pan Am, I would still prefer a Euro Adventure bike like the Super Adventure, 1250 GS, etc... On the flip side, I like the BMW R18 but would pick a HD or Indian if I were to go for a cruiser.

Technically, I applaud HD for going there and doing a pretty damned good job of a first attempt at an ADV bike. Stylistically,....erm...let's just say I am not a fan of it. Each to their own and all that, some folks like it. It's not a bike I would ever buy (if I were in the market for a 1200cc ish ADV bike) but there are several great points on this bike. The no-service interval valve clearances, electronic adjustable suspension, TFT dash, engine power and fuel range, etc All really good! Let down by some strange choices like the position of the voltage regulator right behind the front wheel low down so it WILL catch everything thrown up (mud, dirt) chain final drive, but the real killer is how it looks.

Have heard the review from MCN . They use the bike for 6 month and thought this is one of the most unreliable motorcycles of all times.

I like slim adventure bikes. Really looking forward to the desert x and 660 tuareg! These 1200 bikes are just way too big.

Harley just can't let that "fatty" body style go. The brand suffers as a result.

I like this, it looks a bit like a Transformer. But for me although they’re a class below the Desert X and Norden look fantastic, are cheaper to buy and run and easier to ride and would get my money.

That seat hight trick opens up the big adventure bike market to so many, wouldn't be amazed if we don't see that idea copied by others

I like it! I love that it has a front ferring that resembles a Road Glide.

Mate... as if BMW GS with its stupid beak is a beauty? All adv bikes are ugly, but they are purpose built and functional. No one buys them for their looks.

Ive riddent this and the entire line up of 21 adventure bikes except the MV agusta and KTM. I did not like this bike. The brakes were wooden and you needed to STOMP on it. It was powerful but damn those brakes! The back grab handle is flimsy plastic so if you go to use it to pick the bike up you just broke it. Add to that it feels like dollar store plastic. Lastly for me the screen needs to be adjusted graphically. It was hard to make out information while riding. And I have good young eyes.

It’s awesome👏Although not much of HD fan since they got rid of Buell, the V-rod/w it’s engine and teasing us with the hot looking Bronx. Wish they’d make more cool i.c.e. bikes before the E-⚡️wave kills petrol.

With a shortage of Lithium for Batteries I'll be dead before that happens, and I think that Bronx bike might be coming.
