- In recent years, the reputation of the Ford Mustang has been unfairly linked to the judgement and driving prowess of the people that own them. Just as an M3 is not a vehicle with no turn signals, and Cummins trucks to not come with trailer hitch testes from the factory, neither are Mustangs designed by the factory to crash into curbs.
Let's go back to 2008, when Mustangs were known as crowd pleasers rather than crowd killers, and the new Shelby variant was the most pleasing of all. Back then, the highest horsepower Challenger made 425 horsepower and Camaro, mm, was not in production. The GT500 dominated the market, and for a while was truly once again, King of the Road.

As an S550 GT owner, I still think the 05-09 S197 is the best modern Mustang body style. A true classic. 10-14 are cool too.
cheapest 500hp you can get your hands on.
2003-2006 Merc E55 AMG is quite a bit cheaper and has 520tq. Both great cars, would love to have a Shelby one day.

If you ever wonder why a car like the AMG's that once cost $100k+ new are now $30k after a few years, just look at how much repair costs are on them. As soon as they're out of warranty they go on the market for a fraction of what they cost new. Awesome vehicles, but ridiculously expensive parts.
Yeah, they get pretty expensive. It's only really affordable if you do the maintenance yourself.

Laugh all you want to, but this car was a game changer in 06-07 and started the horsepower wars we have now. It's also still INSANELY fucking fast.

Faustino Films the terminator ended the war momentarily lol . This one did start it. There were no super charged production Camaro , charger or Challenger till after this. I think of the Terminator as a one sided knockout fight lol. Loved that car

The Corvette Z06 was released in 2006 with 505 HP, so not certain the Shelby can take full credit for starting said war. They were both combatants in the early stages of it for sure.

Absolutely! Although I enjoyed the 2008 Knight Rider, most of the series wasn't nearly as good as the original Knight Rider, but the car was awesome - definitely the best part of the show.

I always liked this era of mustang the most of the "modern" ones. It looks the most retro vs the newest generation that is out now with the round headlights etc. Should kept that styling a bit longer I think. This mustang looks like a mustang and personally I think the current mustang looks ugly.

I like the newest one, but not as much as I like the S197. The retro styling on the '05-'09 worked really well, and the current one is just too large overall.
I definitely like these models better than the new ones hands down and I will be honest I hated the new style for a while then they grew on me an now to me they are a very beautiful mustang model and soon I'm getting a 2017 gt but I still like the older ones more regardless.
I'm right there with you man. To me, the new ones look like a Mustang f*cked a Fusion and that was the baby they produced.

I drove my dads 2007 GT500, and I'm 100% sure no car will match the power and sound of it. It was always a blast to catapult that thing onto the onramp!
Nooooooo! C6 auto was a 3 speed lol...the only 4 speeds back then were manual transmissions.
You're so right. Error on my part. As a fan of modern cars, it's so hard for me to fathom transmissions with so few speeds.
Gears and Gasoline No problem. For the first two years of its life (53/54) you could only get a Corvette with an inline 6 and a 2 speed (yikes!) auto trans.
corvettels9 - The Powerglide is still one of the best drag racing transmissions ever built... even with only two forward gears.
Mister Deplorable but of course...if you gear a car right and it has enough torque, the less time you spend shifting the faster you're going to run.

I think the 05-09 GT front aged much better than this car’s front. I remember loving this front back in the day but now I think that the GT front looks better. I think it’s the fog lights in the grill that make the GT look better making it retain its classic throwback look.

If you want to do a 2013 5.8 L GT500 review..most powerful mustang ever made and the last Shelby that CS had a hand in creating before passing away...I volunteer but I doubt you live close to me.

The 67', like most big blocks of it's era, was so under rated. It actually made about 425 - 450hp. They also had 4 speed manuals quite often. Great video.

Awesome color grey with the black is awesome. I have a torch red white stripes GT500 and a 10 and 07 supersnake and 07. Shelby gt.Also I think the car's built when Carroll was alive will bring the money in the future especially my 07 427 Nascar edition supersnake very rare and my 10 grabber blue supersnake is sweet also.
Honestly, my three dream cars is a 2013 Ford Mustang Boss 302, 2012 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, and a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. I would take this over the 2012 though!

I used to own a V6 automatic SN197, I hated it, hated the handling, the look, the power, I only liked the cargo space.
I recently got an S2000 and I love it and everything it does.
but seeing this makes me wonder how things wouldve turned out if what I had was a manual GT...🤔

I don't think those motors were "built". Only the '03 Cobra had the Forged Manley crank, H-beam rods, and forged pistons.
Yea they're built they easily take 700-800+rwhp in stock form for a long time.... sometimes more so if that isnt built its "built"good enough for 99%of the people on this planet for a street car

@3:12 C6 is a 3 speed auto. It's used in many platforms, but was very well suited to the FE engines.
I even think as time goes on the 07 to 09 GT500s.Will become valuable.

I'm sure the new car is going to be awesome just something not right with out Carol alive. Otherwise it's just a Saleen or a Roush which are all nice cars. Carroll Shelby this was my idol growing up

... It's a Ford-Shelby. They payed for the rights to use the name and they let the old fuddy-duddy have some input, to add to the legitimacy of the name, but let's face it, Ford Engineers did most of the work and the bean counters still tried to ruin it. Thank God they let Carroll have some input, It's the main reason the car came with 285 rubber on the back! Before that, Ford was stuck in its old ways of putting Pizza Cutters on its offerings, with the exception of the 2000 Cobra R and the Cobra Terminator.
From 05-24 this body is the most retro one, I recently got a 07 gt500 it’s a great car fast and torqueee out of the box

These cars were pretty good when they came out but became irrelevant when the coyote mustangs came out, they just can’t compete with the newer cars now days.

I hated the fourth and fifth gen, but I love the second, third, and now sixth gen, especially the gt350, ecoboost, the 2012 shelby 500. They came a long way, and although this is not as track worthy as the recent 2012, the now shelby 350 or how the new shelby 500 late this year is gonna be, still pretty awesome. BUT NOT AS AWESOME LIKE THESE CROWD JOKES. Seriously, even if I were to own one, the jokes are fucking hilarious and never get old, they kill me. Just like a gt 5.0 hitting a crowd of toddlers at daycare and women in labor.

These cars are stupid fast. My old man bought an 06 Roush Stage 1 back in the day which I got to drive a couple times. I remember how fast I thought it was until I drove an 08 GT500. These things are ridiculously fast and take a lot of balls and talent to tame.
This the first stage of the GT500, the 2014 was the most notable HP and torque production car of its time. Adding bolt on mods can take the 2014 GT 500 to over 750 RWHP and 700 lbs-ft of torque.
