- 22/23 might just be peak Guardiola. he was forced to evolve his tactics again and again to go from potentially disastrous to historic. here's how he did it.

Thanks mate!
This is gonads. Easy to make stuff up afterwards and act like you understand how it happened. Peps genius is not in his tactics but in his man-management. He even admits that he doesn't do anywhere nezr as much as people think, the players theselves do much more than he does.
Pep Guardiola is the greatest manager of all time his quote says it is not about winning the trophies it is about the way you win them

@@mlh4711 that should tell you the elite human he is. Avoiding taking credit despite being blowing his head off to find solutions and letting all the praise go to the players, who we all know follow his word like a gospel.
Pep guardiola is a genius. I don't even know how this man's brain works, he has the ability to learn and improve each and every game and adapt to the changes of the opponent's tactics. The best manager in the world right now.
he experiments a lot. that is why he is the greatest. he is hard working. other managers are lazy.

Snuck in terror ball. The tactics of Mourinho is not playing football at all, idk how you PL fanboys like anti-football
This is the perfect example of how a real team works. Starting the season one way, and ending it in a completely different one. Great video! And Pep’s tactics are just beautiful.

In 2021 Pep Guardiola lost the Champions League Final, and many people criticized him for his selection of the team, and how it was Man City's biggest chance to win the UCL after their great season domestically (PL, Carabao Cup) but they threw it away, and how Pep Guardiola was a failure at Manchester City and an overrated manager despite his success domestically. In 2023, Pep Guardiola proved them wrong by not only winning domestically (PL, FA Cup) with a very consistent team selection in a majority of the matches, including most of the big ones, but he also won the Champions League as well (a treble), for the first time in Manchester City's History. He may have spent a lot of money, but he has lots of trophies to show for it, which proves his ambition as a serial winner. Greatest. Manager. Ever.

It is a great story about how things will come full circle if you keep working hard. You might just get what you deserve in the end.
Pep will go down as the best manager in the history of football. You never cease to amaze us from 2008. Simply wow.

It's interesting that the potential addition of Kovacic could make them even stronger, as part of the double pivot. They'd lose a bit of aerial power, but lose nothing in physicality and gain a great progressor of the ball with strong press resistance, along with the versatility to push up into an 8 role when needed against certain opponents.
I was just thinking the same 💙
That's true
Really reminding me of the Inter's Kovacic.
th-cam.com/video/kt5X3gdyWXM/w-d-xo.html
Since its also rumoured for gundo will be leaving. Kovacic would be great replacement.
Don't forget Bernardo Silva. As you showed in video that we have 2 cm and 2 dm in the game. Bernardo silva played as a right winger and the main quality of this player is his pressing. We have seen so many mistakes from the opponent because of Silva's pressing ability and not only that with Silva we have extra man in defense because he covers everywhere on the pitch. Pep just need to unlock his another pressing talent known as Julian Alvarez. Hope next season we will see Alvarez in many games.
at one point bernardo played left back shouldnt go unnoticed..
Pep Guardiola is the messi of football management.

Great Video. Really had a nice movie feel to it!
Just want to add one last point. One of the biggest step up was Ederson’s shot stopping ability. However his distribution was, his shot stopping saved city multiple games, and multiple game changing positions.
th-cam.com/video/kt5X3gdyWXM/w-d-xo.html
Love the step-up in production quality!❤
Needs to get a better mic tho
For me , the single most important tactical change we made all season was the decision to start Grealish, and make him an integral part of the buildup. His ability to maintain possession, win fouls, and carry the ball forward made him the absolute dream outlet for expansion during transition. Stones and the system of defending in one shape and then attacking in another is only possible, or at least useful, when we have players like Grealish, Bernardo, and Mahrez who are such brilliant ball handlers that it lets us get settled. You could see our patterns of play shift into fullback --> midfielder ---> winger ---> midfielder ----> goal, with the wingers carrying the ball forward and constantly driving inside. Foden was simply incapable of driving inside off the left, or shielding effectively towards the line because he's left footed, and putting Grealish in completely revolutionized our comfortability in this new system, and allowed us to maintain dominance. Not to mention his chance creation, defensive work rate, and amazing positional play to spread the field, he has been such a brilliant player. For me, he is second to Rodri in this squad in terms of names on the team sheet, because he is the only man in the team that can do the job he does, and it is the backbone of making this system function.
A Paid Gealish fan.
He was very poor generally only good in a couple of games. He is not even in top 10 wingers in the world
Order of importance (grealish has low significant input 14/20)
1. Rodri - of course UCL final goal
2. KDB - King of assist
3. Haaland - goals father
4. Stones - Beckenbauer reborn
5. DIAS - rock of Gibraltar
6. Rico Lewis - new kid on the block
7. Gundo- camouflage general 2 fa Cuo final goals
8. Ederson- antics in ucl final
9.Mahrez - FA CUP hero
10 alvarez - super sub
11 bernado ' Mr ubiquity
12 walker - formar 1 driver
13. Diego - fa Cup saviour
13 akanji - gentle giànt
14 Grealish - legend of the fall
15 Ake -
16 foden -
17 cancelo - hero tuned villian
18 laporte - missing in action
19 Cole palmer
20 Gomez
@Thinker, those couple of games were enough for city to reach final of ucl. You missed the point l, Guardiola won't let a player in for 90 min for nothing. I have watched football and premier league since the days its was EPL but let me make it clear Grealish jas been a rock on the wing for city. The qay city palyed later this season was all about possession and positional play. Had, grealish been an ordinary player, pep wouldn't have played him come what may. Apart from what was said in the comment, the ,primary role of grealish was to defend on the wing and not let a counter attack take place.
Many would underrate Grealish contribution in this team but in one interview, Ake described Grealish as untouchable, he keeps the ball, attracts defenders hence creating space for Bernardo in the right wing. Might not result in high goal contribution but essential in the way city plays.
@@goodman4093 at this point, you’re just talking shit about Grealish without recognizing his influence & constant contribution to this team.
Great 👍 tactical insight. He truly deserves perfection.

For those of us who are non-native and new to football, these breakdowns make watching and appreciating what is happening much more enjoyable. Thanks!
th-cam.com/video/kt5X3gdyWXM/w-d-xo.html
Aptly described. I followed pep tactics earlier in season. He alternated BTW 2-3-4-1(vs west ham) and 2-2-5-1(vs Bournemouth)in an highly ambitious attacking formation.
Walker played an inverted role , while cancelo was a left winger! This made the defence line thin.
It was after crystal place took a commanding 2-0 lead at half time in etihad, that pep repented for a more Conservative 3-1-5-1. I ddnt know why at the time but this channel indicated walker was useless in the pivot role
Brilliantly done mate.
great analysis but i think one thing you missed was that walker didn't really play in the treble surge phase until ake got injured since pep actually preferred akanji at right back and ake at left back. another thing is the significance of having bernardo start at the right wing position over mahrez to aid the press
FMS has elevated the game.
What a wonderful video: the writing feels like a documentary and the details on the video show the brilliance of Pep and his players.
Congratulations 👏
This is Pep’s burner account. Seriously top work.
The Liverpool match was when it clicked. Stones was amazing and Klopp didn’t have an answer on that day. He has gone on to mirror the same formation and Liverpool have “refound” their form.
People who say pep's legacy is built just on money need to watch this.
Pep > any other manager
🤣🤣
Every world class manager has effective tacticts like this.
@@edvardhagerupgrieg724 No, they don’t. Pep has forgotten more about tactics than any other manager. It’s not close. Mourinho in his prime would play the same XI and same tactics every match if he could. Pep invents new positions, changes players positions, changes formations multiple times per season, finds the solution to problems other managers wouldn’t even notice. It’s not close.
Pep is the greatest to ever done in, unparalleled
Pep’s entire legacy is built on fraud lol.
2009 UCL - only gets to the final thanks to the help of the referees vs Chelsea in the semi final.
2011 UCL - only gets past the round of 16 thanks to the help of the referees vs Arsenal (they were leading 2-3 on aggregate before the ref sent off RvP for a bullshit incident.
2023 - finally wins a UCL after assembling a billion dollar squad and breaking multiple FFP rules and doping regulations.
Just like Pep up against all the premier league managers that have come and gone in the same 7-year span, what he has achieved in terms of influence, style of football, tactics and trophies is absolutely crazy. Money helps, but in Pep’s case it’s so much more than that.
I think your video is almost well cover, just forgot to mention city winger (grealish and silva) who are willing to defend. That is why mahrez and foden even when they are available rarely chosen as a starter because they lack the defensive that Grealish and Silva provided. However excellent video as always

I have intensely followed every City match this season so I understand each and every point made in this video. When I saw everyone questioning Cancelo's loan I was genuinely surprised cuz people didn't get that he wasn't fitting the system. True his bold actions and the great of the pass made us win against Dortmund in the last minute but that always doesn't work. You can't pray for miracles at a chess match, and who better than Pep can know that!
This is actually the best analysis and documentary ability, this is an adapted full explanation, this is really good ❣️
Love this video. Very well done! I just want to point out that it was Akanji who shut down coman and martinelli. Walker rejoined the squad for a big game against Madrid away, since Ake was injured, although I think he would've started anyway to deal with Vini. What a singing Akanji turned out to be.
i was reading an article from coaches voice and it turns out pep got the whole idea of a CB inverting from johan cruyff at barcelona.During the season in which barca won the champions league under cruyff in 92 ,Pep would start at CB and move into midfield. He did this in the final against sampdoria
Interesting
i mean people forget Pep used this tactics before for both Barcelona and Bayern even for Barcelona im pretty sure was CL final 2009 when he played with Silvynho Pique Yaya and Puyol and in possesion Yaya Toure was doing Stones role forming a 3 a back and a diamond 4 in midle

Meme summary: In his secret lab, Pep cooked up an abomination of a tactic with four centerbacks at the backline, a poacher and no Joao Cancelo. Did the tactic work? YES.
It's writing a line of codes with mistakes but it runs perfectly. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Pep is a monster. He created two monstrous teams in his life so far, Barca and Man City 2022/23.
The Man City team of 2018/19 season was also damn good. It's a shame how they went out in a controversial fashion in the CL quaterfinals against Spurs
Wow 🤩 amazing detailed analysis! That’s definitely help me appreciate Pep’s tactics even more! He is always innovating and continuously looking to improve.
What is your analysis on why Walker didn’t start the final? Understand the Inter didn’t have the speedy forwards like Madrid, but felt we lost a bit of pace on the right. However, when Akanji decided to push further up we scored 😍
Walker was the a key when the opponent had a faster player like Sane Vinicius and more but against inter it was more physical and player like akandji and Nathan ake are more physical and adapted to this inter team so that is why it was no need for walker to start because they had 3 centers back playing and they did it very well
Walker had a niggle in the fa cup final and pep didn’t want to risk it bec he had a back problem so he had options and he went with the others
I would love to see one day all this players becoming managers. And using this beautiful tactics at their clubs.
Imagine playing against each other
