The question about seeing off the threat of City looms extremely large… I don’t think many of us predicted united to sink where they are now but it’s quite remarkable to see what both clubs have spent since (both around the £1bn mark) and the contrast in trophies since then

      Things like Netspend are rubbish.
Chelsea seem to have spent less but they paid the highest in agent fees.
It is naive to think anyone has spent equal as Man City. We don't have all the numbers but they have certainly spent more.
Look at Coutinho earning £470,000 per week at Barca.
Man United have spent a lot less than many other clubs.
It explains how Barca and Real Madrid could poach all the best players

Man United bought and sold Lukaku for the same price.
City bought Mangala for 42 million and he left on a free.

This was no corporate talk here from Rio. Nothing fake about it. Looked shell shocked as he could be. Had that look of steel in his eyes towards the end. Real hurt. Real pain. Real desire. This hurts so much to watch this back but for different reasons. Before it was how we lost to City and that we lost. Now this hurts because it’s everything we’re not now. To watch this and contrast it with Maguire sprouting his usual nonsense. It’s like being punched in the face. No conviction. No belief. No personality. Stunning how two minutes of an interview with a captain can really show up how far we’ve fallen but we and people at need to own this and accept we’ve fallen. Stop this delusion by propping up a balance sheet and claiming it’s okay because our revenue is up by 5% year on year.

Yet nowadays nobody associated with United (fans, players, etc) seems arsed about Man City winning the league. Weird how a morbid Ferdinand was acting like this back then (as if someone had just passed away or something). Times have changed. Man City are expected to win leagues. Man United (a europa league side), aren't.

Arsenal too got new owners see where they are .No heavy investment and they got an excuse of debt due to stadium and Wenger was the scape goat.
If such investment due to TV right and Influx revenue hadn't happened Still Real ,Barca ,Bayern would be still winning year on year.
