- Loaded semi went through the guard rail, into the woods, and partially rolled. This one took all 3 of our heavies tied together in a "daisy-chain" to pull it back up from BEHIND more guard rail. Mike is the Energy drink guy. During jobs like this I steadily drink a mixture of Pedialyte/water and drink Body Armour hydration drinks as well as take potassium pills and munch on peanut butter crackers. EVEN with all of that, this job took me down. Mike had to drive the Rotator from the job-site to the shop and I went straight from the shop to the ER. I was having severe muscle cramps/spasms to the point of being incapacitated. They filled me with IV fluids and heavy muscle relaxers to ease the spasms. It was bad enough that one of the nurses passing by my room thought I was having seizures. It was MISERABLE!!! But, after a couple hours I was out of the hospital. Then I was on light duty for about a week. I've suffered from heat exhaustion in the past and I thought that I had stayed ahead of it this time, but, apparently my fluid and sugar intakes were too little too late. I knew when my hands started cramping what was coming and I starting downing the drinks and snacks in hopes to of replenishing quickly. Unfortunately, my reserves had already been depleted. I know first hand how bad heat exhaustion can be. That's why I'm constantly telling my guys to stay hydrated. Just goes to show you, even though I THOUGHT I was hydrated, I was not, and I have learned more from this experience so that hopefully I can prevent it from happening again. Just another hazard of my profession. Thanks for watching and God bless.

It's not anti hydration but yea the caffeine in it will make you quickly sweat out whatever hydration it would provide.

My husband is a retired truck driver who drove over 2 million safe miles! He loved watching this, and at one point said, "I've driven past recovery situations, but of course couldn't even look at what they were doing, didn't want to add to the mess!" Just a suggestion, Ron. On the dehydration induced cramps, my nurse at my blood bank where I do platelet donations frequently keeps a bottle of tums on the shelf. I often get excruciating cramps in my calves and feet about 45 minutes into the procedure. She hears me wince and brings me two tums. 15 seconds after I chew them up, no more cramps! I also keep a bottle on the nite stand by our bed, for those late night cramps when I over due the lawn service and chainsaw work. I'm only 76, but still can put in a whole day of work. Love your channel. My eldest son has been with Hittman for several years hauling waste from nuclear facilities. He loves it, and zero accidents for over 3 million miles.
Ron, you are a great example of a leader, not just a boss or commander, but a leader. Every supervisor should watch one of your videos to learn how to work respectfully with your workers. Great job.

Everyone hustles, no standing around with hands in pockets, and because of the way you have explained stuff to them through the years, they know and understand exactly what is needed. YOU Ron are a great coach, but you also have a bunch of all-stars on the field with you. Now, I have to admit, I kept waiting for someone to step in one of the guard rail post holes and get hurt. Think you need a trainee with a shovel to fill holes and carry water, but other than that perfect recovery. Have a great Holiday to the entire team!

That’s the most difficult of your recoveries I’ve watched. Well planned out, everyone worked together to get the semi out to be towed away, I was wondering about the driver until you mentioned he was ok. His guardian angel was with him that day. Mr. Pratt, I am always amazed at the professionalism and expertise you and your team bring to the situation. I worked in Emergency Medical Response many years ago and it is amazing the technology that has come to the industry in 50+ years. Also Mr. Pratt, I want to thank you and your team for keeping it clean (verbally) so I am not embarrassed having my Grandsons watch your channel. I dropped two others for their garbage mouths. I had a crash in 2012. Blew a steer tire and went off the interstate down a steep embankment into a bunch of trees. Took 1 1/2 hrs to get me extracted ( I had many severe injuries including broken neck, crush injuries, brain injury, impalements, etc) and then another 5 1/2 to get my truck and trailer along with all the pieces of my truck along with about 45k of food products picked up. Altogether I had I-70 westbound shut down for about 7 hours. I am glad to hear this driver was ok. GOD was on his side as well on this day. (Ron... if you want to see any pictures just give me a yell.)

The next time someone complains about their tow bill... Send them this video. People really have NO idea what's involved with this line of work! Even the passenger vehicle tows... Not everything is simple. You guys do such great work and it just amazes me to watch how well you all work together to get the job done and get it done right! I love how he stops and asks his crew if they know why they are doing something! Knowing the reason why is a great way to teach and have the information stick in the minds of the learners!

I love that you show the technical details of doing these operations, & have long videos! A lot of places leave out the why & how in the videos. That, or they turn an hour long job into a 10 minute video.

No kidding. I've had beer loads shift when going across I80 into Chicago. Without any wreck.
You know when crap is real, when Ron daisy--chains the trucks together to keep from sliding down behind the truck. That was one wicked accident, and a horrible spot for the truck to park itself. Happy to hear the driver was okay. Hot, humid days are the worst for moving around, and glad you guys kept hydrated. More Gatorade, Ron. Need the salt. Been there, done that. Even more real when all three trucks start sliding, and there has to be nearly 140,000lbs of trucks chained together!
Yes that is a lot of mass for the vehicle they were recovering to move, therefore showing how badly stuck it was in the undergrowth off the road.

Again, continued thoughts, prayers and Blessings from Ohio .... Outstanding overall recovery! One of the more challenging jobs I've watched you do. Other than contending with overhead power, just about every element working against you ..... The initial job at hand, heat and humidity, gravity, the tractor completely disabled, including loss of air pressure, approaching storms, staying hydrated, cramps ..... not to mention, ticks and chiggers were no doubt there on-site with you all! Everyone performed very well under the circumstances.
Very well executed in every respect!! I'm sure many others learned as I did, use of the 'cribbing' to block the wheels!! I do have to add, we came a little too close for comfort to the control door on the Tator with the trailer!! BUT ..... your expertise prevailed once again! Lol .... Ron Pratt, my bucket list includes a trip up to Scott City Mo. from Florida and pay a visit to excellent operation. and while I am thre I will insist on lunch with Ron, he is a master of his calling, spent years on the rescue first responders team and we did with accident victums is on the same level, as far as dealing with difficult rescues with the exception that you can not replace human lives, iron you can replace.Hats off to your crew Ron the quarter back leads his team to another victory Bless your Crew..Bob Dalley St.Pete. It seems from past vids that in his area the only thing they are fussy over are the wire barriers, even when tangled in a truck they need permission to cut them.
@@JW...-oj5iw Your point? I was saying they charge 200 a post for each one that is damaged. Then that bill is paid by insurance(Assuming you have comp and not just collision) Though trucks are most likely to have the full suite of insurance.

It is amazing how much physics and mechanical know how is involved in recovery. Young people today are at a disadvantage, if its not in a video game, they are lost. Ron, your awesome, and that is from a 18 year vet LEO ( full and part time, 78-96), with a parallel history of Paramedic(78 - present). I have been to many MVA's and the professionalism you and your crew show and the team work is second to none.
I just want to say thank you to Ron and his team, They always clean up the debris from the wrecks. Local places in my area do not do this. One semi went off the road four months ago, and his hood is still on the side of the interstate. I live in Indiana and that always disappoints me.

Another awesome job! You have some amazing equipment but even more you have an amazing team of guys working for you. People don't seem to have any clue about how much trouble these big rigs can get into and the damage that can happen when they wreck. Treat those big rigs with respect!

by heck that guard rail did not stop it ....what a mess....that was one difficult extraction with all three trucks needed to pull it out...well done to you and the crew for another great job done well and very professional....
What a wonderful team effort. I love the way you ask the men if they understand why something is being done a certain way, it helps them understand they dynamics of what is being done instead of just being told what to do. Great teaching method and team building.

Ron if your getting cramps in your hands and legs could be a sign you dehydrated because that is one the signs. Great job as always.
The trouble with cramps is even after you've hydrated the cramps remain for a long time.

Excellent team work for a very big job. Modern equipment to get the job done efficiently. Every incident is a teaching opportunity and Ron is a real pro at pointing out all the tricks to his crew. First class operation as most heavy tow operations are today.
It always amazes me how you guys manage to recover the wagons as intact as possible , they get pretty beat up going in and very little extra coming back out . E enjoyable video to just see how hard it actually is and how dangerous it can be if you haven't assessed properly. Crew is a well trained credit to you .
Imagine if that had been a fully loaded, 80k lbs tractor trailer... That would've been absolutely brutal. As it was, 50k worth of truck and trailer was difficult, but Ron and his team are absolute rockstars.
