I found an abandoned new calf in my neighbors paddock next to our little farm. The owner was just going to leave hers so with my sons help we took her home and I raised her. 'Lucy' is old now now but she still know who her mama is. Cows are beautiful and gentle, curious and loving, especially the girls. She eats New Zealand grass and is probably a little overweight but she gets the best pasture🤗
The breed is known for being calm and gentle. To paraphrase a common saying "talk quietly and carry big horns". They're beautiful animals and it is nice to see them appreciated.
No they’re known to be very protective of wachthebbend and their environment. So they have no trouble attacking humans. If they’re domesticated then it is obviously no issue. I have no doubt that these will never harm a human!

Also, we all live in boundaries that were created to limit exposure to dangerous animals...i think we call them suburbs or cities, however, anything past those boundaries encroaches on their domain. These highlanders are amazing, kind and sensitive creatures! One day, years ago, I was walking the forest with my wife as we all of a sudden met a group of about 16 highlanders. We kept distance, some 20 yards, to let them cross the path. However, they didn't, but stood still, peacefully ruminating. The biggest bull slowly walked up to me until he stood right before me. Then, with the point of his mighty horn, he touched the area of my belly button. (Okay, it was winter, I was wearing a solid coat, but to the bull this seemed to be no more than a tiny piece of nothing.) I don't know why, but I didn't feel any fear, and neither did my wife. He touched me almost tenderly. Only this little belly button area. No pressure. Then, all of a sudden, he stepped back, and the whole group disappeared calmly into the forest. It was as if he made a statement like: Hi bro, let's be clear about one thing, I'm the boss right here, no hard feelings, and if you understand that, you're very welcome. I'll never ever forget!
My long horns would stab you if you tried what he is doing. This is only possible with bottle fed animals that have lots of human contact from day one. I guess I could take the crown new baby away and bottle feed it so it will like me better than her mom. I thought about it but that doesn’t sound too nice either does it?

I love this so much!!!! I was so sad my granddad had to sell all his highland cattle’s because he became sick. Now we use our land to let others keep their cows living peacefully.

These highlanders are amazing, kind and sensitive creatures!
One day, years ago, I was walking the forest with my wife as we all of a sudden met a group of about 16 highlanders.
We kept distance, some 20 yards, to let them cross the path. However, they didn't, but stood still, peacefully ruminating.
The biggest bull slowly walked up to me until he stood right before me.
Then, with the point of his mighty horn, he touched the area of my belly button. (Okay, it was winter, I was wearing a solid coat, but to the bull this seemed to be no more than a tiny piece of nothing.)
I don't know why, but I didn't feel any fear, and neither did my wife.
He touched me almost tenderly. Only this little belly button area. No pressure.
Then, all of a sudden, he stepped back, and the whole group disappeared calmly into the forest.
It was as if he made a statement like: Hi bro, let's be clear about one thing, I'm the boss right here, no hard feelings, and if you understand that, you're very welcome.
I'll never ever forget!

My long horns would stab you if you tried what he is doing. This is only possible with bottle fed animals that have lots of human contact from day one. I guess I could take the crown new baby away and bottle feed it so it will like me better than her mom. I thought about it but that doesn’t sound too nice either does it?

As someone who lives next to a farm in the UK , I see a lot of Scottish Highland cattle, and they are BIG
Brushing a beautiful beast of that size must have the most calming effect on your soul. If i lived closer i would volunteer at that farm as much as possible.
