You don't need to empty the old one at all, remove it with the cap on and cover the bottom pipe with your finger as you remove that pipe last. Lost maybe half a shot glass of coolant which is nothing. Set the old one to the side so it wont empty, fit the new one and fill it from the old bottle from the bottom pipe.
    Easiest job ever.
PS: The first tool I bought when working on the TT is a pipe clamp tool, its a crappy 10eur one but its still better than trying with pliers.

Such an easy one to do, but you still see people running grubby old tanks and it really runs the look of an engine bay. For anyone doing this with older coolant (yours looks lovely and clean!) you can use this as an opportunity to flush through (garden hose in the lower hose from the bottle) and drain from the rad instead :)

    Hi Dominic,
Another great video for the TT comunity. Thanks!
It is asier than expected. Mine is also yellow instead of black. And sometimes coolant level red warning is activated but the level is correct. I read that this happens when the level sensor is dirty. I supose this sensor goes integrated inside expansion tank. Am I right?
I will change expansion tank so that I will have clean reservoir and hope to solve false coolant level warning issue too.
For the clamps you have the correct tool in aliexpress cheap for 10€ , also with cable in case the access is dificult. I bought mine there.
    Thanks again Dominic

Keep meaning to buy the tool but at the same time if I show everyone how to do it with what they have laying around they know what to expect 😂. Yes quite possibly, that or a temperature sensor is going faulty, or your clocks are playing up. Worth swapping an old bottle out to rule it out anyway. And visually inspect the sensor wiring while your there

    On the subject of coolant..
As far as I've seen everyone says their TT sits at 90 degrees always when warmed up. Mine did too for the first 18months I had it, then one day it overheated.
In the garage it turned out to be the fan module was faulty so fans not turning on. They sorted that, still running too hot. Turned out to be the water pump impeller had lost a couple of blades. As standard they are plastic and deteriorate over time.
I've got a new pump with a metal impeller, was the same price (maybe actually cheaper I think?) Now my car runs at 70 degrees all the time except in traffic and hot weather if I've been putting my foot down.
What do everyone else's coolant gauges read normally??

This means that if there is a coolant leak, the warning light will never activate as the circuit cant be broken. By the time the temperature guage goes up, it could be too late and I don' need to tell anyone about what the implications of a overheated engine are!
Tell everyone that has replaced it to check their reservoir has the hole IMMEDIATELY!!
