Lzzy is ridiculously talented - you HAVE to see her live to get the full effect. I first saw Halestorm many many years ago when they were still playing tiny venues; there were probably 100 people in the place in Manayunk (Philly neighborhood) and it was crowded. Her voice ... just utterly FILLED the entire hall. And afterwards she was courteous and signed autographs for as long as people wanted them. I bought their single on the spot, and searched up a tee when I got home.
FYI that 'auf' accent is actually a Pennsylvania thing, specifically certain parts of eastern PA like Delaware County (the show "Mare of Easttown" puts the accent on display).
As much as I love hearing Beth's technical analysis, what I love most is her excitement and appreciation for legendary singers like Lzzy. She is indeed 100% one of the greatest female vocalists alive!
Lzzy's control over her grit is phenomenal. Live, there are few vocalists, male or female, that are as thrilling in their performance. Their performance from Colorado Springs of "Wicked Ways" shows off her audience engagement and her control of her grit. And as others have said, the Wembley concert is incredible. I saw them a few months back and it was very close to the same set. Not only is Lzzy a fantastic singer, she is the first female to be named a Gibson Ambassador, and currently has 2 signature guitars, a Gibson and a Kramer. Above all of these things, I place her humanity. She's pure class, and a staunch advocate for mental health and supporting other women artists.
She IS the best! Her cover of "Bad romance" is insane, and the acoustic version of "The steeple" shows how well her voice has matured over the last decade.
I recently saw Halestorm for the first time, and holy crap is her voice incredible live! Seriously, the range, the control, and the stage presence are second to none. I wasn't even a fan until I saw them live. I actually only went to the concert to see The Warning, but I was blown away by Lzzy!!! Freaking amazing! 🔥🔥🔥
I finally saw Halestorm just recently in October for the first time live. With this current tour and this song, which is amazing, live it usually is followed up with a vocal solo by Lzzy. I have barely seen any rock acts that add a vocal solo to their set list. I agree, best rock singer of a generation!
Daniella Villareal Velez (Dany) and Paulina Villareal Velez (Pau) of The Warning are definately powerhouses of rock voices in todays generation. Lzzy Hale and Halestorm are almost in some ways a sort of mentors for The Warning and they have been on tour together also including Evanescence. I know you have reacted to the OMV of Choke by The Warning which is a great song. But would you consider revisiting them by doing a double reaction to "Hell You Call A Dream" and the song simply called "23". Both Live from the Pepsi Center CDMX in 2023 ? I would massively appreciate it and i think you will be amazed by these 3 Mexican sisters of rock abilities playing live. Absolutely insane talent all 3 of them. Dany (Guitarist) sings on Hell you call a dream and Pau (Drummer) sings on 23 while playing the drums. Last but definately not least... Alejandra Villareal Velez (Ale) is a beast on the bass. You wont regret it i promise ;)
I came here to say the same thing. Though I would argue to do '23' from Teatro Metropolitan. Pau was still getting over being sick for the Pepsi Center performance and as such she cut the climax short.
Floor Jansen ❤🤘She also said in an interview that she would love to collaborate with Lizzy Hale because she agrees with you about Lizzy being one of the greatest rock voices out there❤
Lizzy has vocal power on a nuclear scale, but her ability to absolutely control that power and pepper it with nuance is perfection! Can we talk about her scrrrrreeaamss?
Well put! My wife and I took our daughter to see Halestorm live a handful of years ago, and first thing she did when she came on stage was walk up to the mic and scream at the top of her lungs! Incredible!
Of all the vocal coaches, I love how much you get into the music. How much you love the music and it's a delight. I've learned so much about how to work with sound by using the shape of my mouth. It really got me thinking, so thank you. (Halestorm is my favorite band of all time, so this is double the delight!)
Yes Lzzy is one of the top singers of this generation! I'd add Cristina Scabbia from Lacuna Coil, Dany Villareal from The Warning, and Moriah Formica from Plush as other top voices you may not know of. There are few other top singers (like Hayley) but I figure you know of them.
Have been seeing Halestorm & Lzzy since the early days around Philly. She is amazing. When I caught her tour summer 2022, at one point she stopped to talk about her vocal coach/teacher in high school and thank him for his great instruction and getting her started. Thought that was a great shout out.
Great analyst of Lizzy and the band. She helping Shepard next generation, I hope you take time to review more stuff from the all lady band, The Warning, whom Lzzy toured with and gifted her guitar the lead, Danny.
I've seen Halestorm live a couple times, they are outstanding on stage. If you haven't yet, and get the chance to see them in concert, highly recommend getting a ticket. 2024 marks 20 years with the same lineup. Lead guitar is Joe Hottinger , bass is Josh Smith. Lzzy and AreJay are not from NY, but not far, Red Lion Pennsylvania. Elizabeth (The Charismatic Voice) recently interviewed Floor Jansen and asked her if she could collab with anyone, who would she pick. Floor said Lzzy Hale.
I endorse this message. I've seen them 3x and she screams her way through a 90+ minute set like it's nothing. And the whole band is just tight and rocking the entire time.
She's been performing for over 10 years now but is really just getting started but Daniella (Dany) Villareal from The Warning is worth a listen as well. Her voice isn't as cutting as Lzzy Hale but she also has a lot of grit. She also does a unique half step slide off of phrases.
She is by far not only one of the most beautiful lady rockers I love her voice one of the best female singers I love the duet she did with Amy Lee too I love a lot of hail storm songs girl kicks ass
Lzzy is my favorite rock singer she has so many collaborations it's crazy. Plus the 250 shows the are still doing to this day. Funny when you read a comment that says she's not going to last long singing like that. She has been in halestorm since she was 13yrs old .
As a big halestorm fan I have noticed how Danys singing style has incorporated parts of Lzzys style more and more it will be interesting to se how she evolves in the future.
Many reasons I love Dany over all. The Warning lyrics and songwriting is one key. Add to that, Dany carrying the guitar work so well, along with the vocals, and the amount of sound the three Wawas produce, and the way TWB songs jus t latch on... but it's just that I purely love Dany
@jon-paulfilkins7820 I saw them on their first tour opening for Evanescence in 2011 and again with Halestorm in 2022, and yes. She was phenomenal at 18, but at 29, just mind-blowing!
I've seen Halestorm several times in concert, and hundreds of other shows. Lzzy Hale is definitely one of the best front-people out there. She is an absolute ROCK STAR on stage. Vocals, attitude, the performance - she's really in an elite category.
Moriah is AMAZING. The fact that she can hit every high note from Steelheart's "Angel Eyes", seemingly without any effort at all, just brings me to my knees!
Halestorm is a staple of music in my house. My young daughters (9 and 3) love Lzzy. My now 17 year old step daughter used to belt out Love Bites at the age of 6 when it was playing.
Definitely one of the best rock singers of this generation, and Lzzy can hold her own against previous generations as well. She's the only one I've heard that can pull off an AC/DC cover, they've done a lot of Really great covers. Other singers... 🤔 Good suggestions with Beth Heart (someone I love listen to), I see her as part of the contemporary blues scene, but they are often close to the same (classic rock, Chicago blues). Then(!) I would add Danielle Nicole, might I suggest a live cover video released a couple of months ago: "With a Little Help from My Friends". (And her live cover of "Jolene" from Moulin Blues Ospel '16 is 😳😲🙌)
No question that she is an _amazing_ singer. Gosh, they are all so young in that video! In terms of posture, I always have to think (very fondly) of my jazz choir director in college who always loved to say "Ears over the shoulders, shoulders over the hips, hips of the baaaaaaaaallllssssss of the feet."
5:50 This "Mrs. Hyde" is also resulted in a song about Lzzy and, to me, is one of their best rock songs from their early days.....(along with "Apocalyptic," and "Mayhem.")
I'm just waiting for some sort of collaboration between Lzzy Hale and Floor Jansen. Floor has said on several occasions that Lzzy is someone she'd love to work with, and last I saw, Lzzy had responded with "I'm in". Hope it happens soon!
I was exactly like you the first time I heard Halestorm and I was hooked! I wish I could sing like her, damn! (familiar taste of poison is beautiful too)
it's so cool you discovered them. I'm just sorry we both did so LATE. I only did too a couple of years ago. Honestly this band Halestorm has the most GREAT songs, the best vocals, the best instrumentals of all female led bands. I like other female led bands, they have couple of good tunes, but none are even close to Halestorm. So, seeing the reaction of Beth was too cool. Just like mine. I cant believe this band has like ZERO air time on the rock stations while they play the same classic rock tired assed BS over and over. Halestorm deserves FAR more air-time, far more credit. Halestorm is GREAT.
Please react to the live version of Paramore - All I Wanted This is an old song of theirs that they only started singing live on the last tour, mainly due to everything that is required of Hayley's voice.
Rock is all about connecting with the listeners. Just like Blues & Folk. You don't need 10 key changes with 30 rhythm breakdowns and 5 minute guitar solos to make a great song. You don't need a fantastic voice to reach the high 7th notes or the lower 2nd ones. All you need is a heartfelt honest poetry sung with passion to connect with your audience. I find no one does it a better than Paulina "Pau" Villarreal. When her raspy voice breaks with the emotions of her thoughts that she has penned in her profound metaphorical poetry, Pau reaches the inside of our souls. She may not be a singer that arouse interest in vocal technicians given that rock, nowadays, has been equated with energy and distortion of instruments including voices. Remember how Dylan pleaded in Like a Rolling Stone with the youthful, cynical sound of his voice, and the directness of the question - How does it feel? "How does it feel How does it feel To be on your own With no direction home Like a complete unknown Like a rolling stone" Pau takes us back to those days of raw emotions. And then comes her elder sister Daniela "Dany" Villarreal as others have already mentioned.
Greatest female rock singers of the current generation could include Dany Villarreal, and possibly her sister Pau. Dany in particular has vocal technique that is similar to Lzzy's, and seems to use it well. Pau has a strong beautiful voice with good vocal technique, but it's different than either Dany's or Lzzy's. A good song to compare Dany's and Pau's voices is "Disciple", especially the version from their 2023 Pepsi Center CDMX concert. "Dust to Dust" and "Survive" also feature both sisters. And Ale? She provides a solid foundation supporting her sisters. But bass lines are another topic entirely.
I would love to see Beth do a reaction to Disciple from the Pepsi Center. The energy, the vocal work, the amazing performance all around. And it is a great introduction to the vocals of all 3 of the sisters as Ale has a lot of backing in that song as well.
She's very good - both voice and guitar. You are right about Beth Hart in the 'gritty' stakes, though she is more bluesy than Lzzy Hale. To me, Floor Jansen is the best of this generation because she can sing with a rock voice (Northward), gritty (ReVamp), switch instantly to classical, pop - whatever she needs. Floor is a Lzzy Hale fan (I think it's quite mutual), so I'd love to hear them sing together.
Damn I got off on all of y’all that drummer was killing it also, Miria Brinks from In This Moment has a killer voice she is so underrated check her out sometime.
love Lizzy, love the band ... thank you for giving Beth Hart an honorable mention. I personally would put Beth hart at the top of the list but both of these ladies are talented vocalists and i love them both ... and there is one more, Floor Jansen 1. Beth Hart 2. Floor 3. Lizzy IMHO but you can switch them around any way you like.
Not sure if she does it as pronounced now, as this is an older video, but in this instance the way she shapes her mouth to create some of the vowels is extremely reminiscent of Tom Keifer.
Jennie Skulander from Devilskin - one of the best, if not best Kiwi band. They deserve more recognition. Some tips: Start a Revolution (Live at VNZMA's 2015), Unborn. Live acoustic 05.05.24, All Fall Down, Never See The Light, Let Me Breath, Sweet Release. Also Amanda Lyberg from Eva Under Fire is great singer. I recommend to listen Heroin(e) (Acoustic Performance).
You should check out the new lead singer of Xandria (Ambre Vorvahis), particularly on "You Will Never Be Our God". She does regular poppy clean vocals, operatic vocals, AND death growls all in the same song!
React to the group Melim from Brazil with their musical cover versions, simply voices that represent the best of Brazilian popular music. Brazil loves to see your reactions, you have a way of charisma that Brazilian women have that captivates us to see in an American
I saw them in concert when Lzzy had voice issues, i think laryngitis. I got to meet them and she wouldn't talk much, but she still sounded great during the show.
Lzzy is just as awesome live, which truly is a separation for many singers of this generation that only survive by auto-tune. She is a rock legend in her own right, IMO.
freak like me, back from the dead, i am the fire, you call me a bitch like it's a bad thing, wicked ways, uncomfortable, do not disturb, vicious, the steeple, here's to us
subscribed years ago but have not kept up... why? idk. Busy af & didn't know I missed you until I saw you again reacting to Lzzy just now. so I'm in. again

Dany is impressive and seems to be always improving
Lzzy is one of the great ones. Love to hear her sing. She can sing cleanly and hard rock. She is special.
My favorite is Taylor Momsen of The Pretty Reckless. Try "25" Unplugged. Her voice is unique.
Saw them live at a Wireless Festival back when they started, she's got some serious pipes and she's no doubt got better over time.
@jon-paulfilkins7820 I saw them on their first tour opening for Evanescence in 2011 and again with Halestorm in 2022, and yes. She was phenomenal at 18, but at 29, just mind-blowing!
Simply amazing song and performance on that unplugged one.
And she is a nice and lovely person!❤️
Lzzy has received the torch from Pat Benatar and boy is she running with it. She is absolutely amazing.
Love me some Halestorm
I've seen Halestorm several times in concert, and hundreds of other shows. Lzzy Hale is definitely one of the best front-people out there. She is an absolute ROCK STAR on stage. Vocals, attitude, the performance - she's really in an elite category.
What's SO impressive about here is they're always 100% LIVE with their vocals live, despite heavy touring. She's always delivers.

Dany Villareal of The Warning is getting amazing at controlling her distortion and getting better all the time.

Totally agreed!!!! The "Dust To Dust / Dull Knives" live at Pepsi performance is FIRE!!! ⚡🤘😛🤘⚡
I would love to see Beth do a reaction to Disciple from the Pepsi Center.
The energy, the vocal work, the amazing performance all around.
And it is a great introduction to the vocals of all 3 of the sisters as Ale has a lot of backing in that song as well.
I agree with you , very good
She's very good - both voice and guitar. Floor is a Lzzy Hale fan (I think it's quite mutual), so I'd love to hear them sing together.
wow beth 😊😊
Damn I got off on all of y’all that drummer was killing it also, Miria Brinks from In This Moment has a killer voice she is so underrated check her out sometime.
🆗 una cantante tan exxxxxxplosiva y su reacción Maravillosa se conjuntaron señorita Beth bien 👏👏🍀🍀
love Lizzy, love the band ... thank you for giving Beth Hart an honorable mention.
Wow, I thought it was over with after Ann Wilson, I B impressed.
An out of absolutely nowhere petition for review. I would LOVE your opinions about Pallbearer - ‘Where The Light Fades’. Thank you ✨
Jennie Skulander from Devilskin - one of the best, if not best Kiwi band.
Yes!!!! Queen Lzzy!!! 🤘🤘🤘
My favorite Halestorm song is actually their cover of Judas Priest's "Dissident Aggressor."😊

Hi good day Beth 🎉
You should check out the new lead singer of Xandria (Ambre Vorvahis), particularly on "You Will Never Be Our God". She does regular poppy clean vocals, operatic vocals, AND death growls all in the same song!

React to the group Melim from Brazil with their musical cover versions, simply voices that represent the best of Brazilian popular music. Brazil loves to see your reactions, you have a way of charisma that Brazilian women have that captivates us to see in an American
She partnered with The Hu on "Songs of Women". Simply the greatest ever. Male rock-ish singer: Marko Saaresto of Poets of the Fall is the best.
by davor beth, I reacted to Leonardo Gonçalves - Gatsemani... One of the best Brazilian singers. Brazil will love this reaction
If you want to hear the best version of this song you should listen to the live version from Wembley
I saw them in concert when Lzzy had voice issues, i think laryngitis. I got to meet them and she wouldn't talk much, but she still sounded great during the show.
Danielle Nicole another great lady blues rocker!
Lzzy is just as awesome live, which truly is a separation for many singers of this generation that only survive by auto-tune. She is a rock legend in her own right, IMO.
freak like me, back from the dead, i am the fire, you call me a bitch like it's a bad thing, wicked ways, uncomfortable, do not disturb, vicious, the steeple, here's to us
Familiar taste of poison!
Pennsylvania I believe
She is the queen of vocals and that goes for guys too
Listen to Lyria-Jester,Let Me Be Me or Dorothy-Black Sheep.

Hey, Beth! I'd like you to listen to the song Sapato Velho by the brazilian band Roupa Nova. It's got a beautiful vocal harmony. You'll like it!
You should listen to Bailey & The Boys “it’s got to be perfect “
