Thank you very much! Log cabin blocks are fabulous for using lots of fabrics together. It was especially fun to have the collection of fabrics as using all the colors and prints created a kaleidoscope of fun designs. Sure appreciate you watching! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
You're right, Sheila! You just can't help but smile when you look at these fabrics! I'm still using bits of it in scrap quilts and love the pops of color. Thanks for watching! Happy Quiting, Lea Louise
Hello! I hope you had a joyful day! I was visiting my grandkids and all 3 of them tired me out in a happy way! I hope you have a gentle and kind week ahead! Thank you for sharing your video and your talent.
Thanks so much, Brenda! Days with the grans' is always a joy...followed by a nap! LOL Now you'll be ready for more quilting. Keep up the great work! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
So glad you like this quilt, Fran! Must admit I was a bit concerned about all the busy prints, too. Keeping some definition between the lights and darks directed the contrast and really toned down the prints. It let everything to shine together! Just the way we want it, right?! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
Neither did I, Linda! I am so pleasantly surprised at just how well the light fabrics work together. They also play off the focal fabric beautifully. Sometimes it's fun to step outside the box just to see what happens! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
It's so interesting how tweaking just one or two things can make a big difference to a block. Log cabin blocks have always been a favorite of mine, but I've always made them "traditionally". That is cutting each piece to length and the same width. The changes you show with showing a long strip to join fabric strips and alternating the width makes for a much more interesting layout! Thanks for sharing :)
It's a fun new take on a traditional quilt block, Mary Anne. Simply about adding a bit more interest and using some timesaving techniques. Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
Yay! Thank you, Debbie! You made my night with that comment. It's exciting to know that my videos are in somebody's programming schedule! Thanks a million for watching. Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
Thank you! I have quilted for a long time but I usually learn something from your videos. I especially love how you talk about fabric choices. That is one of the hardest parts of making a quilt top from scraps or even from precuts! Thanks for the help.
You are so welcome! It took me a good while to figure out fabric selection and what I like. Once it all came together I've enjoyed quilting so much more. Thanks for following along, Lea Louise
It's a quick way to get some serious sewing finished, Lesa! When I sit to sew I'm ready to get it done and not get slowed down by lots of little pieces to manage. Besides, I think it blends the fabrics so nicely. Be sure to give it a try! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
Just started a log cabin and was so surprised at how quickly it went together, i used sample swatches and cut the longs to size beforehand so I could use the fabric best, the pieces were all different sizes my longest cut was 9in so that limited my size, I cut the logs at 1 1/2" finished at 8" blocks x 20 blocks The fabrics were from several different lines with different colour ways. Just love it ready to sew blocks together will add a couple of boarders, it will be a quilt for charity, all fabric from my stash, my reqirement this year, whatever I sew must be predominately from my stash. Blessings to you all and just have fun.
That's a wonderful quilt, Helen! Congrats. It will be so appreciated. You're right about how fast a log cabin block can be made and then the blocks go together quickly as well. I'm anxious to see this one finished. Have fun with all those quilting projects. Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
Thanks so much for your comment! These colors are wonderful together and are creating a beautiful quilt. I can't wait to see it finished. Blessings to you and your family. Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
Hi! This is a such a great idea! Will it work if each of the strips are 2.5” wide or do we need to do the mix between 2 and 2.5? Thanks so much for all of your great ideas you share!!!!
Happy you enjoyed the video. Actually it'll be easier if all the strips are 2.5" as there won't be much trimming involved. Have fun making your own! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
Fabrics are beautiful!! Now is this your log cabin pattern or a new one you are trying? I like the asymmetrical pattern it makes, you don't see it right away with "busy" fabric, it's like a little surprise!! LOL! Love it!!
You're really paying close attention tonight, Tiffany! LOL This is new. It's my version of a traditional log cabin with a few adjustments. Now I'm anxious to see it finished. Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
So glad you enjoyed this quilt, Jan. There are two follow up videos which I'll add links for down below. Thank you so much for watching! Happy Quilting, th-cam.com/video/ecUhtmVcIiM/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/8emZz2YvsUg/w-d-xo.html Plus here's a free tutorial for the block layout: inspired-quilting-by-lea-louise.ck.page/0ccfafb1f7 Lea Louise
These are such stunning prints, Roxanne. They are the Brilliance collection by QT Digital Prints. I bought the FQ collection and love how bright and colorful they are. There's a link in the description if you want a closer look. So glad to have you following along! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
Yes, Jackie, I will. I'll be doing another soon and will show how it works. What's important for this block is to keep a narrow strip on each side so it remains squares. It can be placed in any row, but needs to be on all sides. Thanks for your comment, I'll be sure to include that explanation in the tutorial! Happy Quilting, Lea Lousie
I am falling for this bundle! Your block babe out beautiful! However with the link I can't find the exact bundle you've purchased here.. can you please, crossing fingers..☺ You'll know the babe of the bundle n where it might be found. I've been on Google search. Afraid it's no help. Again.. Beautiful ❤❤❤
Right?!! This bundle has been on my shelf for 4 - 5 months, Kathleen, and I just couldn't decide what to do with it. Who knew a log cabin block could be so stunning? I love it. Now to make the quilt top. Finding the FQBundle may be difficult as it's from 2020. The link I included is only for yardage as I can't find this online. I purchased this from 'Quilting at the Beach' in Myrtle Beach, SC in March. They had all the fabrics by the yard and may be willing to cut you a bundle. Alternatively, check out QTFabrics. They' include a list of shops on their website and you may get lucky with one of them. Good luck! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
@@InspiredQuiltingbyLeaLouise ohhhh my what a bummer. I can tell you I don't think I've seen a set/ bundle I've liked more I'm sure the way your lc blocks cane or had a lil to do with it but I love the bright happy textures they came up with in their prints SIMPLY FABULOUS DARLINK 🤩SIMPLY FABULOUS 😄
I am trying to find the QT Fabric bundle that you purchased. I checked the links you have posted but have not found it yet. Can you tell me the name of the bundle?
The fat quarter bundle was called 'Brilliance Cool' with 26 pieces. All I've seen online so far is yardage. You might check out QTFabrics online and see what shops carry their fabric. One of them may have a bundle on their shelf. Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
I really enjoyed the colors in your blocks. I do have to say that the movement in the video made me a little dizzy. There was so much movement that the picture became blurred.
You're right, Carla. All those prints moving around aren't easy to focus in on. I need to slow my movements down so the camera can keep up me...but I get too excited about the fabrics! LOL I'll try harder. :) Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
Thank you for your comment, Sandra and know that I understand what you're saying. Many quilters are looking for new ideas and ways to use what they may already have on hand. My goal is demonstrate and teach ideas to that end. The quilting conversation is important to me as I'm not just talking about today's quilt. It's through this conversation that I hope to inspire quilters to find their own style and confidence. Besides, I LOVE talking fabric! LOL Thank you so much for watching, Lea Louise
Thanks for your input, Pat. Many of my viewers are learning how to quilt so I intentionally include a lot of explanations. Thanks for watching! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise

I like how you sewed the similar colors together in long strips. Lovely colors.
I do like the diagonal seam. It’s going to be one of my projects soon.
