I love this list and listen to it often but I always thought some of the songs were odd choices. The 1997 entry in particular is a bit perplexing. I mean, Final Fantasy 7, Symphony of the Night, Age of Empires, Dungeon Keeper, Total Annihilation. All had kick ass sound tracks and all came out in 1997. But you chose Golden Eye which is just a movie theme song. LoL ok then? :P At any rate. The new list is just as good and is a welcome addition.
as a musician myself I know how much practice goes into making music-- usually a few months for just one full song, but this is a mashup where memorization was key because he wasn't looking at sheet music-- this probably could've taken half a year to a year to make and I can appreciate every minute this man has put into it. And as a game developer in college, I would recommend this guy for any boss fight cover-- any day.
Ash Scott It`s well played, and well mixed, mixing all these very different songs after first doing a metal cover of them is NOT that easy. Besides, he`s using transitions, meaning the order was planned, so it might as well be live ;)
Description is fixed with correct songs and time stamps! There are a lot of comments as to games they wish they saw and I love it but I chose very carefully. Let me put it this way, I put in a lot of classics, but I've covered a lot of Chrono Trigger, Metal Gear and Final Fantasy and did medleys for Super Metroid, Banjo ect., but I haven't yet hit up some of my favorite games like Fallout or Super Hexagon. We all had different video games growing up and I love hearing about all yours! I'm sorry if you were displeased with my choices but hope you still enjoy the medley! :)
The transition between Gun Fight and Super Metroid seemed a just a *tiny* bit off (at least to me), but the rest of the mix was seamless. Really, really awesome job, especially since you were given only a week to make the video. ^_^

i can only say, why did he pick donkey kong country 2 over doom a pioneer of the entire fps genre. Donkey Kong Country 2 is a good game, but is it really more important than doom? a game that already has a metal soundtrack
Kevin Elliott I loved the sudden contrast. Like videogames have always had really upbeat and fast music, even for the not-so-fast-paced games. And then Ocarina game in with this really powerful slow song. Amazing!

Keith Rice You just have to have an appreciation for the games that came before from someone starting it all, the industry being saved after a crash, to the graphical feats being accomplished every generation.
To everyone who thinks a certain great/important/classic/influential/whatever game should have been on the list, I have a challenge. Make your own list of games that should have been featured in this video. For fun, I'll play along with you. So let's start by taking a highly acclaimed game that changed the way we think about console shooters: Halo. Halo came out in 2001, the same year that also saw the release of Grand Theft Auto 3, the game that basically created the sandbox genre. So even with me ignoring classics like Metal Gear Solid 2, Devil May Cry, Silent Hill 2 and Baldur's Gate 2, we still have a minimum of 2 games for a single year. *Now repeat this process for every single year of gaming's history.* The list would get stupidly long, and creating a video for it would be madness. So FamilyJules7X did the only logical thing, and picked the games that mattered to *him*. He evidently grew up on Nintendo consoles, so he plays a lot of Nintendo tunes. He dabbled a bit in PC gaming, so we see Battlefield and Civilization. And he loves the Zelda series, so he included a lot of music from that. Just from watching this video, you can get a feel of him as a gamer, and I wouldn't want it any other way.
+Theminimanx at first I thought he was doing the classics, and most highly acclaimed games. I expected to see metal gear, God of war, and other titles that didn't appear, as well as some that I expected (such as skyrim) however after watching his video it occurred to me that this really was his gaming experience, and especially when I saw braid come up It seemed like such an odd game to have on the list. I completely agree with you, after watching the video, that it was really about his own personal experience with gaming, that's why it's a tribute, not just to the history of gaming, but rather HIS history of gaming :) You can also tell what kinds of games he like from this as well xD

This brings me and probably a lot of other people straight from early child hood to adult life. Reminds me of a lifetime of sitting on my ass, enjoying some of the best stories ever told.
People who say Nintendo is bad: If you don't like something, that doesn't make it bad. Unless it's something that fails at what it tries to achieve, it cannot be considered bad based on opinion. People who defend Nintendo with their Great-swords: Just because a game makes an a great impact on you on an emotional level, it doesn't make it an objectively good game. Just because a company has released games with consistent quality doesn't mean that they aren't susceptible to failures, because they are.
I prefer splatoon over any CoD. Not to mention I have every Nintendo console (so what I'm a Nintendo fanboy) and when I say this, most people say to sell them and buy a real console. Oh, a real console like a playstation? You mean the ones that wouldn't have happened without Nintendo after they teamed with Sony to make a disc system? (I'm going too far now).
I'm not an FPS player myself, but when I do, I prefer things like TF2. I love how it can mix action and humor, giving all of the characters and classes differing personalities, letting you customize them to your liking.
+TheSnelly101 Every console has hits and misses...anyone who calls nintendo faultless simply hasn't played some of the real nightmare bad games (Superman 64 anyone?) I haven't been a part of the console wars since back in the mid-late 90's when the first playstation was on the rise, went solely PC and never looked back...that being said though it's generally about what games you're into. Generally you'll find certain systems tend to stand out with certain genre's in any given era...look at the SNES/Genesis era, if you were an RPG player you were better off buying an SNES than a Genesis, doesn't mean there aren't great RPG's on Genesis but they just came out more consistently and with more consistently high quality on the SNES. On the flip side, if you were into sports games then the exact opposite was true, doesn't mean there weren't good football or baseball games on the SNES at all, but they just generally tended to be more common on the Genesis. Whichever era you're talking about it's really about asking yourself "well, what is it I like to play?" and then shopping for the console accordingly. Like I said though, I went PC only some years back and have never looked back, all I wind up losing is a couple licensed exclusive games and in return the games I do have play better, look and sound better and overall have a more comfortable control scheme to me since I've gotten so used to using a keyboard...and 95% of everything winds up with a PC port these days anyway
+TheSnelly101 Nintendo is just fine at what it does. What it does is make brightly coloured kiddy-friendly games. Fine if you like that sort of thing... but frankly rather annoying if you really don't.
YES. THE ULTIMATE CLASSICS I GREW UP PLAYING, PAVING THE WAY FOR VIDEO GAMES BEING THE WAY IT IS TODAY.... I WAS BORN IN 88, 90S LEGENDARY GAMER, THIS TOOK ME DOWN MEMORY LANE BRO

Tetris has different notes comrades. They made it like this becuse it was too similiar to Korobeiniki.
If this doesn't make you nostalgic, you aren't even a videogames. But even for the people who aren't and still have ears, this is amazing.
Basically what I'm saying is this is exclusionary towards deaf people. Excellent job. They could use to be taken down a few pegs.
No, I'm not a videogame. I'm Patrick.
You may be a videogame, but me, i ascended to greater things.
I am a Blitzball!
Shouldn't you be busy with another hard hitting question?
Lyle McDouchebag I was expecting a gay joke and a caterpillar costume, and you comment on deaf people? Scram.
I've never been a videogames. I've always been human.
You know he really liked the game where he pulled out the classical guitar
Grandpas guitars
im sorry but it's called an acoustic guitar
The Highly Original Show Although it is an acoustic guitar it’s under a different class called classical for the use of nylon strings
That's actually a fair point. I never thought of that.
The Highly Original Show No problem 👍
This is absolutely amazing! Thank you for making this - You did an outstanding job
Dig Dug always gets me at how kick ass it sounds.
After so many years, still a great work!

As a 40 year old person, Yes, i absolutely understand how much effort went into this..... you should take a shot on every video game enthusient ever in existence. Bravo sir
He's gonna take you back to the past, to remember the songs that kick ass!
This was a MASTERPIECE!!!! VERY well done my man!!!!!!!
Dude that transition to Tetris was BASS level
I remember this video being on the 360 dashboard in 2014 shortly after it's release and i loved it back than. It still slaps ngl great work dude and thanks for the great memories ❤
Makes you wonder which ones he's played as a kid.
My bet is on Legend of Zelda LUL
he had a very deep connection with every game on the list, or at least that's what I see in his body language
Keith Rice You just have to have an appreciation for the games that came before from someone starting it all, the industry being saved after a crash, to the graphical feats being accomplished every generation.
Probably all of them
Well at least his favorite is Zelda ksk
I completely agree with you, after watching the video, that it was really about his own personal experience with gaming, that's why it's a tribute, not just to the history of gaming, but rather HIS history of gaming :)
You can also tell what kinds of games he like from this as well xD

13:43 onwards is simply amazing. Great job!
This brings me and probably a lot of other people straight from early child hood to adult life. Reminds me of a lifetime of sitting on my ass, enjoying some of the best stories ever told.
12:22 I would actual PAY for a full version of this!!!
Why can't I hold all those feels?? The damn nostalgia hit me hard!
it hit me so hard i cried...
Man, not sure why but that Sims Theme hit me the most!
I guess I just wasn't expecting it, but you nailed it!
Most excellent, dude!
This is actually an amazing video, it gives me Dream Theater vibes. Such a talented man!
fallout 3 sounded so doom metal-esque and that made me so happy
+Yellow PikPik All consoles suck.
