Mario 3 or Mario World?
Super Mario Bros 3 but both are Goats.

I used to go back and forth a lot but now 3 has the edge for me. Both pushed the series forward in big ways tho!
I will always love 3 since it was a big part of my early childhood. But if I'm honest World is the better game. I know you said you love how Mario feels and handles in 3. But I feel like World is superior. Because Mario is less floaty, if that makes sense.

Morton Koopa Jr. was a reference to Morton Downey Jr. a pioneer of “trash tv” talk shows in the 80s/90s. All the Koopalings in the North American version of SMB3 were named after celebs (usually musicians, but Morton & Larry were the two exceptions to that).
Fun fact: in the japanesse version of the game, it doesn’t matter what power up you have (for example hammer bro, wing power up, frog power up, etc…) you loose it and become small when you take damage, you even loose the green shoe!

I sure as hell can remember my first memory of playing this game. I was at a friend's house, he had just got the game, he and I decided to play it, needless to say we both lost track of time, I got home late, got bitched at by my parents, and a short couple of months later, I had my own copy (my mom secretly put the game on layaway at K-Mart, one day after school she told me to look in the food pantry of all places, behind a box of snack cakes, Mario 3 was chilling out, waiting for me to find it).
I was freaking blown away, my mind exploded. It was a beautiful game.
As for Advance 4's ending, Nintendo just translated the Japanese version's ending, the Japanese version did not have the Another Castle joke in any version of Mario 3.
I stumbled upon this channel while looking for videos on Lost Levels, and I'm so glad I did, it is a goldmine of quality content that captures the nostalgic feeling of retro gaming reviews perfectly. Keep it up dude, can't wait for the Super Mario World and the New Series reviews

I remember playing the hell out of this game when I was a kid visiting cousins. No one ever wanted to play the auto scrolling levels and we'd fight over who had to and who played the mini-games
It's my favorite video game of all time and it's still a masterpiece.
I grew up on the gamecube and didnt play smb3 until i turned like 19 so no nostalgia what so ever and i can tell you the game still holds up. If there was a save function on PAL and NTSCU carts and Mario wasn't as slippery id give it a 10/10

I only briefly experienced Mario 3 through Mario Advance 4 when I was like… 8? 10? I was young is the point.

Back in 1988 a save feature was like a luxury very very few games had

Until they realized that was the worst possible angle for a platformer. Isn't that right, Sonic 3D Blast and Sonic Labyrinth?
I will never forget when my cousin got this for his birthday, we completely skipped the cake. There was no time for that, the most amazing game in existence had just landed in our hands. Still love it and play it with nostalgia in hand and heart to this day.
I wish people would STOP calling the fish that tries to eat Mario and Luigi in 3-3 and 3-8 Big Bertha. Thats Boss Bass. Big Bertha swims in the water back and forth and opens her mouth to let baby Cheep Cheeps out.
Yeah, it annoys me too. Then again, there are people who still think those chestnut-looking enemies from Mario World are Goombas...

@17:43 Luigi sprite was always the same as mario other then the color for all 4 original nes/snes games when made in it's homeland. SMB2 US was a port of Doki Doki panic and so that change was a NOA made one and Miyamoto had nothing specific on that.

I entered a Super Mario 3 competition at my local video rental store in late 1991. I ended up coming 2nd place because I was to busy showing off by collecting the magic whistles instead of getting a high score. I was only 6 years old at the time.
The object was to get the most points?
@@aaronflowers8881 Yep. I picked up the whistle in the fortress. He killed Boom Boom and got the 7000 points. Time expired soon after and the match ended.
A couple months ago I was fixing my NES (Carts weren’t being read) and when I put it back together I tested it with this game, and while it did play, there was no sound. I tried fixing it for ages until I realized that there was just no sound on the title screen. Yikes.

The Roman numeral 3 in world 2 is made of water because it’s letting you know world 3 is water world. The mushroom house next to it even has a frog suit power up 😑
I don’t really play Mario Games much outside of 3D World and Mario Odyssey, but I found my parents’ old DS, started playing the GBA version of this game, and I can safely say now it’s the best Mario game

I feel like SMB3 is underrated because more people seem to talk about Super Mario World or Super Mario 64. Super Mario 64 was a huge feat in gaming being the first 3D Mario game but Super Mario World had less worlds in it than Super Mario 3 😅. Also, SMB3 just controlls better than Super Mario World.

5:13 i actually have seen people play games like this, basically everyone who had never played nes mario bros before, my mom and family members really did play games like this before they got used to it. i myself also started like this, i think its a rite of passage, well that and your thumbs hurting till they callosed.

The Wizard movie was not created to be a Nintendo ad. It is a remake of a 70s pinball movie called Tommy that got Nintendo placement after the movie was already rolling.
