Koeman took a squad that had only won one trophy (Even with Messi's greatness) in two seasons, had just been smacked by Bayern 8-2, had no money to spend, and has them on the verge of the Domestic Double, using a formation that no one argued he should use. That man deserves immense credit. No one else of note even wanted anything to do with that job.

You’re setting up Barca as if they’re some mid/lower table team. Barca is one of if not the most recognizable team in the world. They have world class players across the board. Koeman deserves credit for unifying the team but at the end of the day, they’re world class players.

    - He kept Messi when he battled for freedom and escape.
    - He signed Koeman, who nobody said was a great hire

He’s done far more harm than good. He was the one who initially agreed on Barca joining the super league. He also made terrible financial decisions. He’s made three signings over 100 million and all 3 of them have not been anywhere near worth it. Griezmann and Dembele are both incredibly inconsistent(yes they’ve had relatively good seasons but they’re not worth 100 million) and Coutinho just doesn’t fit in the team at all considering the amount of number 10s Barca already have. Overall, Bartemeou was terrible throughout his tenure.

The full credits goes to the youngsters and the team because they simply convinced messi to stay and gave him joy. If messi is happy he is unstoppable. Thats messi personality and probably why all messi fans love him. I dont like this personality because i prefer true leaders but i love his gameplay.

You can't begrudge Koeman. When everything goes sour in any club, the first person to get blamed and sacked would be the manager. But when it goes well, the manager should get the credit. Let's not forget, he didn't get a shitload of money to buy new players this season but instead lost Suarez and whole lot of veterans. But then again that may have been a good thing. Messi is of course a big big factor. Koeman's success is basically being able to work with Messi and tinkering with the team to get the best out of him. Changing to three at the back for some games allowed Alba and Dest to freely bomb forward. Pedri and de Jong became important supporting actors for Messi. de Jong had the intelligence, skill, discipline and humility to play anywhere in the field. He even got Dembele to shine where he could shine.

It's been a team effort and the fact Koeman's change of formation has worked brilliantly. The likes of Alba, Griezmann, De Jong and Mingueza have been top class also. However, Messi's goalscoring form has been the most crucial factor to the turnaround. He got off to a slow start in La Liga this season, scoring just 6 in Barca's first 16 matches, which did play it's part in Barca falling far behind in La Liga, given how they depend on him to score regularly. Since matchday 17 to 32 though he's scored 18 goals, while in that time Barca have won 14 games out of those 16, with him only failing to either score/assist in 3 of those matches. The form he's shown in 2021 has been unreal.

The person who deserves the most credit for Barca's turnaround is Josep Maria Bartomeu. His resignation was like a cancer being removed from the club and completely changed the player's attitude and motivation. At the beginning of the season you could tell that Messi was still in a bad place and was not as focused/sharp as he normally is. After Barto left, you could see Messi playing with joy again. People are trying to give credit for Koeman for changing the team's mentality, but he didn't really have anything to do with that. Barto resignation is responsible for that change.
