PLEASE STOP EATING FISH - we virtue signal and ban the use of plastic straws to save fish BUT WE STILL STUFF OUR FACES WITH FISH funding the heinous fishing industry that kills over 2 trillion sea animals every year! Please get your mom VEGAN OMEGA 3 supplements instead of getting her fish. Fish get their omega 3 by eating these sea plants in the first place, so why kill innocent fish for their omega 3 when we can get it directly from the plants? Thank you so much Dr Chua. A year ago, my 81 year old mom’s scans for both eyes showed signs of ageing. We didn’t know how to help her. Months later, After watching your videos, and followed your advice: make sure she eats green leafy vegetables and the other food you mentioned. I also gave her eye supplements containing lutein, zeaxanthin. And she had to eat more berries. She also eat more fish and tomatoes. It worked! My mom latest eye scan showed no deterioration in both her retina and macular, they are within healthy range for patients in her age group. I believe proper nutrition is truly important.

Thank you for your help! I have the onset of MD. My father had it. I think mine began after I had Covid-19. I was 70. I’m now 71. It is minor at this time. Just went for my six month check up and still the same no changes thank God. I take the AReds, not over weight and never smoked. I mostly cook and eating out on occasion. However I will now incorporate more spinach and fish to my diet. I will be printing the Amsler grid major idea!!!

Does she take the spinach raw or cooked, please? I'm not sure if I understood right, but guess he said it can be taken raw one day of the week, and cooked the rest. In that case, do we measure the cup of spinach before or after it's cooked, meaning slightly sautèed..

Google for Eye Exercises and Eye Nutrition and do and use them daily and you possibly can reverse Dry AMD as I have. Google for Eye health and apply and keep learning self repairs in your eyes. Eye Dr told me approx five yrs ago that there's nothing that "they" can do about AMD at that time. I then did research on AMD and found out there is daily practices that I may be able to reverse Dry AMD.
I applied myself and reversed my AMD and have healthy eyes today. It took 5 mos or so but I got results and that was 2019. I've told Eye Dr who acted dumfounded not encouraging my self-help practice which has worked. Eye Exercises are very easy and can be done anywhere sitting stationary that's not in dangers way. Go for it!👍👁️✌️

You didn't mention that chicken eggs are a rich source of lutein and zeaxanthin and they don't have the disadvantage that green vegetables have of containing oxalates, phytates, tannins and many other poisons that harm humans.

I would like to suggest that the family history connection is more likely based upon eating habits than genetics. The same was shown to be true for a myriad of cancers in a study in Japan as long ago as 1981.I translated that study into English so the Head of Medicine for the country of Japan could present it at a world cancer research convention in Hawaii at that time.

Thish is helpful, thank you! I went whole food-plant based to fix cholesterol and it dropped from 210 mg/dl (200 being high) to 120 (what some believe might be heart attack proof). It also fixed my weight, blood pressure and high resting heart rate.
On the diet, I started eating 2 ounces of kale daily and recently I made sure that is my average over time. I'm happy to know it will aid in prevention of macular degeneration which my grandpa had. He was a smoker. I used to smoke, about 30 years ago.
I am happy to know that my 50 lb weight loss will greatly aid in prevention also. I bet it was the smoking that tipped the scale for my grandpa, but I will do everything I can to prevent it.
The mention of Amsler grid is invaluable to me. Thank you so much!

Supplement daily with lutein (approximately 20 mg) and zeaxanthin (approximately 4 mg).

Excellent video! Through DNA testing I learned I have two copies of the variant for macular degeneration. I now take the MacuGuard supplement from Life Extension Foundation and make more of an effort to eat leafy greens. 🙏

I'm 70 and I have just been diagnosed with dry AMD. My mother went blind from wet MD, that started out as dry. Ive never been overweight, I eat fruit and veggies every day, all my life, Ive never smoked but did live with an outside smoker, dont have high cholesterol, never drank alcohol, exercise and take very good care of my health! I just started taking lutein and axaxanthin, and make sure Im getting more spinach/kale. Im also using MSM eye drops.

Thank you! My mother had wet AMD. It didn’t show up until she was in her nineties. I’m 76 and have dry AMD. My doctors want me to take the AREDS vitamins, but I have side effects. Your video about which foods to consume are a god-send.

I’m so glad you mentioned the side effects. I’m allergic to so many things it’s awful and my Dr gave me that too but I didn’t dare take it. I would MUCH rather eat beneficial natural food. This was fantastic to watch and learn from.

I’m just curious, what kind of side effects did you experience with the ARED’s? My dad has dry MD and he can barely see now at 84. He has other problems and can’t walk after covid pneumonia. He takes AREDS daily so I was just wondering what side effects I should watch for. Thank you in advance and sorry you have MD, it’s terrible there’s no cure yet.

Thank you for the clearest explanation of both wet MD and Dry AMD, and the effects of each. Prevention and treatment explanations certainly excelled above what information our eye care providers were willing to impart. Feels like they want us to lose vision. Am now looking for a new eye care practice to get a second opinion and see how much preventive treatment they recommend as well as how to proceed to slow the increase of vision loss for both wet and dry macular degeneration.

True! Sadly, that's the way I feel too. Nowadays (looks like) doctors want and work for patients to become more ill...to perpetuate illness, instead to prevent and/or cure it.

Thanks for this excellent video and valuable information Dr.
Drs who share studies relating what works are a true blessing, especially more holistic approaches that are effective!
I noticed after having a posterior vitreous
detachment that my vision in that eye seemed less confidence inspiring while driving. And then noticed that straight lines had waves, and also a slight magnification.
I had a friend years ago with a macular degeneration diagnosis who was told to keep her head down for two weeks??

@@evelynqueen2352my friend was in her mid 70’s I think. Her Dr apparently advised her to keep her head down, like on a desk or table, face down during the day for two weeks. I gathered this was to help counter the progression of her symptoms.
I don’t know who her Dr was, and she has since passed.
This was about 15 or so years ago.
She had some wavy vision in one eye at the point of her diagnosis.
Not sure, but in her case it may have helped the condition from worsening?
You might do a search on this?

What was omitted was the consumption of eggs. Egg have a significant amount of lutein. Sadly, despite years of intravitreal eye injections, AMD is not reversible, only maintained and vision preserved.
