Mean Mary is as good Banjo as anyone in the world ever has been. Very unique approach. These 2 people really have an acoustic grove that is near perfect. This is well beond close to the bone and down into the roots, very fine piece of work.

The defining sound of Bluegrass arguably is the banjo. Never heard this tune till now. I believe her playing kept the fire going in the fireplace. The wonderful guitar playing kept the tune mellowed out.
As many say, coming upon something brand new is one of the great joys of TH-cam. I can certainly say this abut Mean Mary - what an astonishing find! That young woman certainly knows her way around a banjo! Just superb music! I'll be listening to some more of their excellent playing.

I would hesitate to call it bluegrass, it's more Bela Fleck meets Rodrigo and Gabriella. You DO know that the banjo was used for a very long time as a parlor instrument playing classical style music, just because there is a banjo in something certainly doesnt make it bluegrass, and playing a banjo fast also does not make it bluegrass. I'm not here to shit on anyone i promise.

She's the real deal. Man I love her playing. You know, whenever I see her play, I picture her in a Western movie, wearing all black riding into some dusty town with that banjo strapped over her back. She's totally a classic at a very young age.

Excellent music. Mary's fingers are quick and agile on the banjo. Reminds me of watching Roy Clark back in the old days. Mary's accompanying guitarist is excellent also. These two are so much better than most of what you will hear on the radio these days.
