You can't text on your phone because it's illegal and you'll get a ticket, but you can reach down and do it on the car's touchscreen. This country is stupid.
@jayslomine4280 yeh, I get it, follow the money. Although the screen is a distraction because it makes you take your eyes from the road for a millisecond which is all it takes for an accident... Money speaks volumes.
My poor father-in-law drove a Lexus. Eventually they got too big and he had trouble seeing out of them. He decided to buy an Audi A4. It was the last car he would ever drive before his passing. Which was an absolute shame because that hunk of junk spent more time in the shop then in his driveway. Out of six children not one of them wanted the car despite it being a fairly newer model. We're not wealthy we all drive Toyotas & Hondas. Here was a chance to drive a high-end Audi and nobody wanted the hassle.

I work on a college campus and there are Audi's all over the place. The other popular vehicle is the Jeep Wrangler. Neither one is known for reliability.🤔
@@ganymeade5151Something I began to notice in the 90s when I got into cars more and saw those influenced as status symbols (flashy BMWs and Mercedes but CRAP and expensive to maintain) versus well engineered and reliable while still looking sharp (as was my early 90s Celica GT at the time).
You’re 100% correct less is better. I like low technology make the car, reliable, sturdy and clean lines and each car should be made it instinctively different like it was years ago when a car rode down the road you could tell from a distance who made the call today like you say, you can’t tell to you’re up and see the little logo on the car saying it’s a Ford Chevy or whoever thanks for telling everybody it really should be
I am from germany, i want buttons, too. I hate touchscreens to adjust simple stuff. Volume, AC, and all the stuff you adjust a lot should be in buttons. All other stuff, you adjust once a year can be in the screen. I like the Dead zone camera system from Hyundai / Kia. You set turn signal, and your gauge behind the wheel shows the blind spot of that side. Yes, you should do a shoulder view, too, but it's an indicator, of traffic in that lane.
I think you’re correct about the touchscreen and about people paying too much attention to phones and touchscreens too many accidents are caused by them
I prefer buttons and hate touch screens as well. And the extreme of that is the Tesla . Teslas are pieces of junk . No style no luxury . Just a steering wheel and a giant I pad. Crap
I've just bought a 1983 Mercedes with roll up windows. It has no electrics that Charles Faraday would not understand. It goes, it stops, it is comfortable, it looks fabulous with lots of chrome and it has switches, not touch screens.
I couldn't agree more about the touch screens. They are dangerous. And you are absolutely correct about finger tip motor memory that is not available with touch screens.
The Korean cars may not be the most realible but they really nailed balancing tech with analog physical systems more manufactures should take notes from them in that department
There is a toll road in Greenville S.C. it's built by a company in New Jersey. We call it the yankee toll road . Nobody drove on it. The company wanted S. C. to help pay for it because no one was using it. S.C. told them to stick it.
I have some terrible news for Christmas too. Car related. GMC has a NITSA recall on all their HD 3500 pick up trucks. All models their newly designed electric tailgate latches all electronic controlled have defective switches. Causing their tailgates to open up when going down the road. To pen them you just have to push a button on the dash board and the Tailgate will open up. Their failing and opening up unexpectedly causing the cargo to fall out. Just junk Scotty is right don't buy.
I am Australian, and a former owner of a few shares in Transurban. That company spent big $ to develop express highways that state governments couldn't afford to develop. If you don't want to pay the toll, don't go there. Do you want me to list a hundred American companies that are leeching money from Australia?
That's right. It's the states' DOTs, VDOT in the case of I-66, that award the contracts to PPPs because they don't have their own money to fund large-scale projects. The PPP funds the construction, operation and maintenance. Simply don't use their lanes.
Toll roads and toll companies are a great bane on society especially here in Australia. They make billions of dollars from drivers most of whom can least afford it as they live a long way outside the city and need to travel through multiple toll roads to get to and from work. People are charged a few hundred dollars per week in tolls. Sydney and Melbourne have some of the most number of toll roads in the world. All roads should remain in Public hands and not handed over to private companies.
"Scotty " I couldn't agree with you more about these modern cars and their "Touch? SCREEN. So much more complicated and distracting when you're driving a car 🚗. Love your videos. Best wishes from East Yorkshire UK 🇬🇧.
Audi here in the UK will very rarely discount their cars, you go in a dealership for a used car they WILL NOT knock off £200! Ask them to put in a free set of carpet mats they will refuse. Not many Audi's driving around here too, plenty of BMW's & VW's thou.
People can’t even walk and look at their phones. Asking them to do things on their cars just to change the temperature or the radio station is just stupid
It’s Dec 3rd. I have a coworker that bought a brand new bronco raptor, the day before thanksgiving. It is now in the shop for a third time. First it wouldn’t start, then the dash lit up like a Christmas tree. And today the driver side window doesn’t close.
That wouldn’t surprise me. I was a Ford tech for 7.5 years until feb of this year. The second the new broncos came out they were frequent fliers for concerns. At first I thought it was because of the type of people that bought them. I soon figured out it was a poor product.
Jeep Wranglers have both touch screen and buttons. While the vehicle is moving you cannot use the touch screen to change the navigation function, which is smart.
One of the big reasons I keep driving my 2006 sonata is it's simple (No fancy electronic gizmo crap), starts every day for the last 18+ years & I can wrench it myself. Even if it's ugly by now it still works perfect & last a long time which isn't something you can say about most newer cars these days.
@@AndrewFaust-y1t No. I don't want to pay for one, period. I just want one. But, no, I don't lease. Not paying thousands of dollars to end up with nothing in the end.
Thank You for this great video Mr. Kilmer. Foreign companies owning toll roads in America,,, politicians got kickbacks and probably still do. No insider trading going on there.Duh.
We are not allowed to text and drive. But its perfectly ok to look to your right and read a touch screen? Talk about dead from the neck up thinking. I reach over on all 12 cars ive owned in 27 years and feel the button i want to push. No looking needed.
I used to be a Long Haul truck driver so I can look down in other vehicles quite easily. I saw more than my fair share of state and local law enforcement looking down at their computer and playing with it while driving down the interstate😮
Agree & disagree about Audi. New ones just plain suck, unless you have over $100,000 to spend. 8 years ago they were great - manual transmission options, ZF 8 spd autos, torsen rwd biased quattro, mostly sedans. But yes, they cost a fortune to fix. But I still love the older ones.
It has blown my mind that Tesla doesn’t get more flack for how awful its touchscreen system is. Every time I have used it I wonder how it ever made it through testing.
I drive a '99 Subaru. The only screen you find in the entire car is a digital clock, screen size less than 1" and even that has physical buttons to set the time
Here in Australia we hate Transurban as well. Initially they were only going to have tolls on those roads for a specified number of years, then they keep extending it for who knows how many more years. The only way you can beat these pirates is to boycott their roads. Unfortunately people don't realise that they are the one's with the power, and not these private road conglomerates who make us feel as they are our only option. Since a private company is making toll roads, what is happening to all the money they collect from fuel tax?
Ok, I agree with a lot of what Scotty is saying. Owning a Tesla I have to get used to it, most everything is on the screen. Looking a the screen and using the touch controls takes time off the road. I try to use voice commands.
The no touch screen in cars motto is one I also use. The only touch screen device in my Mercedes Benz A180 is the GPS. The rest of the controls are either rotary switches or push button switches.
Came to Greece for poor country ,one route Thessaloniki -Athens 600km distance road u wiill need 70 euros to go and return for tolls in every at least 10-30km they have tolls and are all private companies and the money for suppose to be roads maintenance, go to their pockets under goverment umbrella! This is only happens to Greece too many tolls for roads that we have payed from our taxes and wallets to build for our safety ,destroyed after few months from trucks and poor quality materials and noone cares.
Hwy Scotty Here in Texas they built 130 from Seguin to Round Rock with a Spanish company running it. After a few years it went belly up now Texas owns it 80 MPH and lots of wild hogs and deer....
Audi Fox was hyped up by all the car magazines as low-cost BMW my poor father bought one even the plastic door handles broke off in the first few weeks of ownership the carburetor dumps pure gasoline on top of the Pistons. engine wore out after 20,000 miles.
My parents got me a 1975 used Audi Fox back in 1979. The battery kept dying on it. Nobody could figure out what was the deal with the battery. If I remember correctly, we had to back it up into parking spot at a Ford dealer where I got a used Ford Mustang, which was a much better car than the Audi!
I agree that the heat and a/c controls should have buttons separate from the touch screen. It makes the touch screen too complicated and if it breaks, you don't have heat or a/c controls. Even Vinfast, the Vietnamese car put everything in the touch screen
I'm an American and I want BUTTONS! I want to push the mechanical "Kachunk" button to change the station on my AM radio and FF my 8-Track! If you were born after 1985, you have no idea what I'm talking about.
Honestly, there's really no point in buying a luxury brand vehicle as much anymore. Because most of the non luxuries and even lower trims comes standard with just about everything.
TBH the reason why an Australian company would build roads in the US is because the first things foreigners think of when they think of the US is rich people, cars, and bad infrastructure. That Australian firm probably looked at the under-served US transportation sector as a gold mine. I don't mind people building more roads for us, but it's not like I can't just use a different road if it's too expensive.
As an Australian I think they should come back here and build better roads in our regional area's before running overseas and wanting to build there, look in their own backyard first!
Transurban has the expertise & experience with developing toll roads. The state government owns the real estate, and will resume total control after the contracted lease expires. They outsourced the development because they couldn't do it themselves, most likely due to lack of ready money. The state government of South Australia remains committed to building new roads via paying numerous contractors and retaining control - hence no tolls, unlike our eastern neighbour states.
Toronto has same issue hwy407 is owned by a Spanish company. Cost you over 60 dollars to drive for 2 hours. Much more for truckers. The government sold it for 99 years
Funnily enough, they first fully created that road, and could easily have the State do cheaper upkeep. This is poor national security to allow any foreign nation to OWN/Buy your actual fricken roadways. End this crap nopw. Revoke that illegal/immoral lease. Imprison those officials who created that plan. They outta know better. America needs to do the same too. National SECURITY and it's already paid for by the citizens once...never again. Upkeep is due by the state...or citizen volunteers in exchange for paying a small share of taxes. Labor not money.
I hate touch screens. I drive a Subaru sometimes NOT MINE and it has touchscreen for heater controls. I try to change fan blower its HARD to do that while driving. I hate those screens .
I’m an Australian and I hate the touch screens too Scotty. You have to look away from the road to find the menu you want and keep looking to make the adjustments. I’m old school and much prefer buttons and knobs. Back in the day a simple glance was all that was needed to find the a/c button or the hot to cold slider or the fan button. Now everything is so complicated with automatic four zone climate control, which is great until you don’t want auto, you want to make a simple adjustment to the fan speed you have to enter the climate control, then find the fan setting, then make the required adjustments. By the time you’ve done that you’ve run over three pedestrians and run into the car in front of you. No wonder we need autonomous braking, we’re all to busy looking at screens. Trans Urban screw us Aussie over to Scotty.
Quigley used t'say ..."When I'm taken some hombre out ...say at 2000 yards I want that bolt action !" " None of that auto-load crap" Yep....he'd agree !
In Ontario we have the 407 and our government sold it off to a Spanish company. It is the the most profitable business in Ontario. It makes .79 cents to the dollar. So I know that guys pain! 😢
There is a simple way to abolish toll-road extortion. Never ever use one. But people are aheep: "o just this time" To me, they literally do not exist. A sign of toll ia translated in me head as No access, dangerous go away. leave, be gone.
RIP to all who got terrible news ahead of the holiday 😂The rest of us in our Civics and Corollas will still be rollin easy through our local drive thru light displays.
You know back in the day Audi was a more upscale sportier and handling and performance type cars. Sort of like the perfect marriage between BMW 5 series and a Porsche. Somewhere along the way Audi like its parent company Volkswagen has lost its way. Because both brands at 1 time were known for their reliability. But that's way lost in the past.
It's a CUV wasteland out there. All of them look alike, and few to none of them are "compelling" to look at. It's a station wagon/mini-van with ground clearance and AWD.

A/C, stereo, and drive modes should always be physical buttons
People can’t even walk and look at their phones. Asking them to do things on their cars just to change the temperature or the radio station is just stupid
It’s Dec 3rd. I have a coworker that bought a brand new bronco raptor, the day before thanksgiving. It is now in the shop for a third time. First it wouldn’t start, then the dash lit up like a Christmas tree. And today the driver side window doesn’t close.
So 3 times in 6 days? Is that what you’re telling me? Including the weekend? I don’t believe your story guy.
Ah, we don’t believe he bought it. He cas crowing about it, no one has seen it. Only excuses
That wouldn’t surprise me. I was a Ford tech for 7.5 years until feb of this year. The second the new broncos came out they were frequent fliers for concerns. At first I thought it was because of the type of people that bought them. I soon figured out it was a poor product.
So the Ford acronym is correct …

Jeep Wranglers have both touch screen and buttons. While the vehicle is moving you cannot use the touch screen to change the navigation function, which is smart.
Jeep Wranglers fall apart when you drive off the lot
Not smart lol
One of the big reasons I keep driving my 2006 sonata is it's simple (No fancy electronic gizmo crap), starts every day for the last 18+ years & I can wrench it myself. Even if it's ugly by now it still works perfect & last a long time which isn't something you can say about most newer cars these days.
Yes the old Sonata's run forever. Good choice.
I want an Audi R8 convertible. I don't want to PAY for it, or the maintenance... but I want one. It looks so fun to drive.
Have you considered leasing? They do your maintenance for you.
@@AndrewFaust-y1t No. I don't want to pay for one, period. I just want one. But, no, I don't lease. Not paying thousands of dollars to end up with nothing in the end.
@@DarkForce2024 Get a valet outfit and stand in front of a snazzy restaurant. You'll get one.
@@Marty-j9e Sure sure. That would work great. You going to pay my bail when I get arrested for grand theft auto? 😜
@@DarkForce2024 Just tell the court you were outside minding your own business when the driver handed you the keys.
Mazda's have always used physical buttons and knobs, and a mostly analog gauge cluster, don't give the Korean manufacturers all the credit
Thank You for this great video Mr. Kilmer. Foreign companies owning toll roads in America,,, politicians got kickbacks and probably still do. No insider trading going on there.Duh.
I HATE touch screens!
Australian here. WTF.?? Your American companies are Here as well and they screw us. Get a grip.
We hate touchscreens too.
Audi used to be a good fancy car in Europe, but they've kind of disappeared off the stage.
😂 Always cracking me up Scotty!!! 😂
Yessir Scotty the VA toll roads are a complete sham that's No Lie. Hearing that an Australian company is profiting off Va roads should be criminal!
Scotty, your contact in you is all in a league of it’s own. I love to hear your opinion on this automatic high beam crap on new cars. I hate it!!!
It has blown my mind that Tesla doesn’t get more flack for how awful its touchscreen system is. Every time I have used it I wonder how it ever made it through testing.
I drive a '99 Subaru. The only screen you find in the entire car is a digital clock, screen size less than 1" and even that has physical buttons to set the time
Scotty, I'm with you on touch screens. Just more attention-sucking stuff that takes your eyes off the road.
Can you talk about new toyota zero truck. Coming to America for 10.000 bucks
I thought you were dying, I just got terrible news before Christmas??
Terrible touch screen news..........
touchscreen is just extremely dangerous.
Just had a tire pressure sensor replaced: $350!
That's on you for being low IQ you can buy one yourself and take it in and get it done for around 60 or 80 bucks😂😂😂😂😂😂
Dang, I had 2 of mine replaced at Discount Tire when I got a new set of tires and they cost a fraction of that.
Yes Audi is garbage
BMW was always better
My parents got me a 1975 used Audi Fox back in 1979. The battery kept dying on it. Nobody could figure out what was the deal with the battery. If I remember correctly, we had to back it up into parking spot at a Ford dealer where I got a used Ford Mustang, which was a much better car than the Audi!
I totally agree with Scotty about the design of today’s cars. It’s a cookie cutter world. I can’t tell one car from another!
"but the tail lights are snazzier on this one than that one" I actually heard someone say that 🤣
It’s by design
I agree that the heat and a/c controls should have buttons separate from the touch screen. It makes the touch screen too complicated and if it breaks, you don't have heat or a/c controls. Even Vinfast, the Vietnamese car put everything in the touch screen
My 2014 A4 is driving just fine.
Gulf Shores Alabama an Australian company owns a bridge that goes over a intercostal canal the tolls to use is very high.
Who built the bridge?
I'm an American and I want BUTTONS! I want to push the mechanical "Kachunk" button to change the station on my AM radio and FF my 8-Track! If you were born after 1985, you have no idea what I'm talking about.
Came for the Toyota picture and stayed to listen to scottie raw truths , rock on brother
Touchscreen is just plain dangerous.
Big screens in cars suck . Get rid of the junk screens and go back to buttons and knobs. PERIOD
The only modern driver aid that is useful is the blindspot warning on the wing mirror all the rest is uncalled for.
Honestly, there's really no point in buying a luxury brand vehicle as much anymore. Because most of the non luxuries and even lower trims comes standard with just about everything.
I hate the touch screens. In are 2020 odessey touring . Love my buttons on my 2013 expedition.
Stop allowing foreign companies to control our infrastructure
The government sold it for 99 years
How do motorists consent to be charged before using the toll road?

Sorry to hear your terrible news, Scott.
Quigley used t'say ..."When I'm taken some hombre out ...say at 2000 yards
I want that bolt action !" " None of that auto-load crap" Yep....he'd agree !
Spot on, mate.
Trans urban is a result of a weak and greedy coffee shop government and Gloria on the radio.
Why are the insurance companies not screaming about touch screens??? There should be an insurance premium surcharge to make their point.
Whenever I think of Audi all I can remember is that they made that one cool sports car...... And then I forget they exist.
In Ontario we have the 407 and our government sold it off to a Spanish company. It is the the most profitable business in Ontario. It makes .79 cents to the dollar.
So I know that guys pain! 😢
My ex bought a new 2017 Audi most expensive 7 series back in 2017 for $140,000
We just checked the current value. $45,000

You are a kool dude!
Too much tech in a car sucks! Distracting! Simplicity is best!!
The best way, to save on car cost is to buy one with manual transmission. It will last for a life.
great thing about Scottie is he just cuts thru all the marketing cr@p and tells you the honest to goodness goddam truth!
That's what they're saying but they were much better back in the 80s.
Yeah I had an Audi that handled very well, but it spent more time with the mechanic than with me.
Touch screen is not high tech. It is cheap tech. Buttons are expensive and luxurious.
Hi Scotty! My 2014 GX460 is STILL indestructible....92K and ZERO problems... 😎
Multiply that by 10 and it’ll still be indestructible
Take care of it and it will take care of you with dependability
There is a simple way to abolish toll-road extortion. Never ever use one. But people are aheep: "o just this time"
To me, they literally do not exist. A sign of toll ia translated in me head as No access, dangerous go away. leave, be gone.
well, I have an Audi 2001 1.9 TDI a4 and call her Sheila, she brought me good times. She is still purring like a little kitten.

66 haha northern Virginia, the ozzys figured you can afford it being so close to the trough.
Hey Scotty, how are you chief!
Transurban also operates the I-95/395/495 HOV Express lanes. I don't know Virginia decided to hire an Australian company
It's a CUV wasteland out there. All of them look alike, and few to none of them are "compelling" to look at. It's a station wagon/mini-van with ground clearance and AWD.
