    It's the family that makes car enthusiasm special. Every time that I see a 1961 Impala two door, my first response is to call my Dad to tell him about it. Dad died twenty years ago.

      i totally understand that. I think about my father every time a see a Peugeot 404. At one point i even bought a nice black one, red interior with white dash and steering wheel. An peach of a car in really good condition. But the experience wasn't as good as the memory. Better let memories be.

    What a gorgeous old car! I can attest to the spending time with family and having that special 'car' thing to make memories with. My Dad had a Datsun 280ZX, and I will always love that car and remember that car. No other colour aside from the speckled/glittered burnt orange will do, either. We used to cruise around the neighborhood looking for the ice cream man. Even better when he picked me up from school in it!
    He traded it in for a silver Porche 911 Targa, with one of those convertible tops. I still haven't forgiven him for it!

    • @marvindebot3264
      @marvindebot3264 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CaseyPutsch Na, try a smaller wheel first, then you don't need to make any permanent changes. As for shortening the gear stick, I bet that was done in period reasonably often anyway. Keep the bit you lop off, it can always be TIG welded back on so well that no one would ever know. Lovely car by the way and so well made that your daughter could hand it down to her children. Now, wouldn't that be something?

  • @jameskirk6677

    This reminds me that what we appreciate is more important than what is appreciating on the market or what other people appreciate. Casey is nailing this one. The memories that are collected by the history of this car and the future he and his family will have in it are bigger than the dollar amount for the purchase. Truth is he has an opportunity to care for and enjoy a work of art from a world before it really lost its innocence. For the cost of a new car you would trade in four years it's a steal and a privilege.

    I think one of the greatest draws of a time machine like this is that it is a pointer back to when our beloved country was forever optimistic. We had come out of WWI as victors, ‘doughboys done good’ and the evil specters of vehicular emissions pollution and collective guilt weren’t much of a thing. The country also hadn’t yet lost its innocence…we hadn’t used unthinkable weapons on civilians in Japan yet and likewise hadn’t had the jarring and horribly traumatizing assassination of JFK occur yet. it was also a time before the Great Depression, so a time when the US could afford to be isolationist and even somewhat imperial overseas.
    Congrats on finding your time machine, Casey. May it transport you to a much simpler time every time you pull it out of the garage.
    Cheers! 🖖😎👍

    "no one my age appreciates these cars" bullshit. I'll be 49 in a week I love 30s cars.` swooping fenders, massive head lights. 20s cars were still pretty crude machines, 40s and up were stamped out by machines, but 30s cars are works of ART.
    btw love the family thing. buddy of mine is doing something similar with his daughter and flat fender jeep.

    You bought a gorgeous machine for $25,000.00. The rest is what you paid for that gorgeous paint. Well done! Use it!

    Leave it to Casey to start a family and follow it up by a series of nonsensical, borderline ruinous, financial decisions.

    I just couldn’t drive a car like that. I’d feel like I was “putting on airs, pretentious “. I guess the Model A and Model T feel more like my “station “. Beautiful car though.
