I have 2 German Shepherds and they are like our children. We also have a 2 year old son and all of us are extremely nervous. We just found out that we are being moved to Okinawa in November. Thank you very much for this video. It is very informative.
Thank you so much! We are going to make sure we do tons of prepping and make our transition as smooth as possibly. I've liked, favorited, and subscribed to your channel. Good luck with your husband's surgeries! Take care.
Lacey, I work for a major US airline. Let your members know that airlines do have embargoes when outside temperatures reach a certain level on the ramp. I do believe it is 85 degrees and the pet will not be able to fly for their safety. There is also a low temperature restriction of 45 degrees. We also have certain aircraft in which pets cannot be placed in the hold. There are steeper restrictions for snubbed nosed animals. This will be very important if military members are traveling commercially in this hot summer season. This only applies to checked pets and not pets in cabin. I hope this information is helpful and if you or any other member has any questions concerning airlines, please let me know.
I am literally typing this through tears right now! We too are heading there on very very short notice and at this point the process seems impossible! Our family member is a 12 year old cat...
You can do this! We made the trip there with three (!!!) old cats and back with two cats and a big dog. It was crazy and stressful but all worked out. If you need any help, let me know!
When you got off your flight from where you were, to Seattle, were you able to get Bango, or did they send him straight to the rotator flight. Sorry for all the questions, my base isn't very well informed on the pets processing. We are also bringing a cat with us.
+logan brock We were able to pick him up in Seattle. Because you will be transferring from a commercial airliner to the rotator, you will need to claim all of your luggage (including your pets) and then go check in for the rotator flight. Most of the time you will have a pretty lengthy layover before boarding the rotator in Seattle so you should have plenty of time with your fur baby before the rotator flight. Good news too is that you will more than likely get to see you pet at each stop the rotator makes.
great video. Me and my husband got yokota for our first base and we have two fur babies. I was really worried about the 180 day quarantine. But since we are living on base then they can stay with us correct?. I can't imagine leaving them behind or in some kennel. They are my children essentially.
I have a question, this is our first PCS right out of tech school. We are waiting on his orders and he graduated last week. We probably wont have a 40 day notice to give japan to give them a heads up on import. I was told we most likely will have an AMC flight straight to yokota. my question is, if you know the answer to this, with such short notice, Do I need to give japan an import notice anyway? Im just worried that id have to wait 40 days to fly out with my husband because japan wont accept my pets before that notice. I was wondering how you handled the import before hand situation?
Were you able to pick what flights you wanted to do once you got the orders, or did they book it for you? This will be me and my wife's first pcs overseas.
Is the international health certificate for humans or pets? I thought this video was about pet travelling, but the way it is described in the video makes it sound like it is for humans.
Thanks so much for this! We're PCSing in January with (two kids) a 7 month old, and 3 yr old and our pet. What kind of kennel/travel cage etc do you recommend? It's our first time pcs'ing. I'm really nervous. We're going to Okinawa also.
Thank you sooooo much for posting this video. My wife and I have been wondering about this process. We have a dog and 2 cats that have been with us for a long time. Is there a pet limit if you’re getting stationed in Japan?
Hey, your videos are so helpful. My husband and I are PCSing to Japan very soon and we have two pets ( 1 dog and 1 cat). And I am freaking out because it is not an option to leave them behind. So I understand they have to get chipped (which they both are) but I have to check if those are acceptable. Then the rabies shots and the FAVN blood test. What I'm confused about is the 180 day quarantine. We live in an apartment off base so are we allowed to start quarantine in our home or did we have to live on base to be about to start quarantine?
You should be able to start the process as soon as you get your FAVN results. However, once you get to Okinawa, you would need to live on base to be able to finish it out. Otherwise, you’d need to find a place on base that could House your pets in the meantime.
Thank you so much for the information I appreciate it a lot I thought I couldn't take my puppy pitbull she's 6 months old and I can not leave her or sell her or do anything to separate her from my family I am having twins and she's always with my girlfriend and she's pregnant so I see how much she cares for her and the babies!!! I have a question tho I currently live in El Salvador and I wanna know if that effects anything!!! Please help
Are you military coming to japan? If so, pitbulls are a banned breed, and can not live on any military installation. Period. There is no way of knowing whether or not you will live on, or off post until you arrive. If housing is not at 98% occupancy, you will have no choice but to live on base.
Hi :) I was wondering if anyone has any information on taking 3 furbabies to Japan? I have prepared some money on the side to ensure they all travel with me, but I know you can only have 2 animals on base housing. Does anyone have any advice on the process with multiple animals?...
+Gon Killua you are not allowed to have more than two pets on base. There is no knowing if whether or not you will be on base or off until you arrive. You don't get to choose.
The Lovelys If I live off base and live with my family, do you think it'll be okay if I bring all 3 of them? My family is from Japan, so I wonder if my pets can stay with them?
+The Lovelys, I have 3 dogs, I would love to take all of them and the financial aspect is not the issue. I know that you are not able to have more than two on base, but we have friends who would be willing to watch our furbabies in off base housing. You had mentioned that you do not get to choose where you live, whether it is off or on base? Is that only when you get there, or for the entire time? Do you have an option, if they put you in on base housing, to go look for off base housing on your own? I am so confused on just about everything with this process. I have yet to find any information that can help, or even someone I can talk to to ensure our dogs can come with us. Any Advice?
You have no idea how much less stress this video has made me feel. Of course there is still stress but this really helps

+The Lovelys - All my best to Cory. You are all very strong.
It is amazing how expensive it can be!
Thanks so much for this info!!!
+Jenna Delano you're very welcome!
This was amazingly helpful! We just got orders today for misawa and I'm so worried about the process of getting our two fur babies over there.
Very helpful thank you!
So helpful!! Thank you 🙏🏾
I am literally typing this through tears right now! We too are heading there on very very short notice and at this point the process seems impossible! Our family member is a 12 year old cat...
It’s not impossible! Get the process started ASAP. Don’t delay!
Thank you for your reply! Less overwhelmed today. :)

Really??? I may need a pep talk. Seriously.
Sure, feel free to contact me (I wasn't able to send you a PM).
For the 180 day quarantine, is there a minimum number of days that it has to be in the US?
I’m transferring to Japan, but i don’t h e a military vet anywhere close. The process is confusing as far as using a civilian vet.

The Lovelys thank you so much. Sorry for all the questions, I'm sure it gets annoying lol I really enjoy the travel videos!
+logan brock we don't mind at all. We are happy to help! When you arrive in the island and you see us, don't be afraid to say hi!
Thank you for making this video! It is the most informative and interesting I have seen yet. Is it the same quarantine period for cats as well?
+Chris B I believe it is.
We PCS next year (October 2020) and we got all the vaccinations and the FAVN and haven’t been told anything about quarantine..?!
im in the same boat there.

Without my husband****

+logan brock the flights were selected for us. It was our first overseas PCS too. We know it's super stressful but, y'all will get through it!!
The Lovelys thanks a lot. But can I pick a rotator flight or do they pick for you whether you get a rotator flight or have to fly commercial
+logan brock No, you shouldn't get a choice.

Thanks for making this video! Do the same regulations apply with birds also?
+Tori Garman unfortunately, we have not the slightest clues about birds. We are sorry!
The Lovelys no worries (:
Do i need the advance notice if im flying on a rotator?
+MARCOZR1 you do not
Thank you!!! I saw it under step 5 and i was freaking out. lol
