It's one of my biggest pet peeves of whiskey drinking that or they line up the strip but it's on the wrong side so if it has writing it's just all messed up
I have yet to try either of these...every time I see Pikesville on the shelf though, I think of you guys, lol. One question though- why not try doing this blind? I feel like that would take a lot of bias out of the decision when it comes to distillery, price, availability, etc. Just a thought. Cheers, guys!
Blind tastings have their uses, but what's the point of blinding two ryes of such known quality? I want to compare them side by side singing their full songs.
I honestly prefer the Russell’s over the Pikesville, but I didn’t for one second think you guys would choose anything but Pikesville. :) This channel could be called “If Its Not Bourbon Night, Its Pikesville Night”.
I finally bought Pikesville and have only had 3 drinks so far. It's good, but....The usual price here in Australia is AU$150 (US$113), and has never been discounted in the year or so I've been wanting it. It's good to have on hand as comparison to realise how good the much much cheaper ryes I drink are - Bulleit, Lot 40 snd regular JD rye. However, It's sibling Rittenhouse BiB rye is very nice also, and is only US$64 and sometimes (rarely) less. I'm sticking with it as my fancier go-to rye.
Hey Wisco, pull the trigger on that Pikesville-- I'm telling you, you'll NOT be disappointed 😏 it's iconic far as Rye goes, from what I hear- I'd definitely get a back-up whenever mine runs out 🥃🥂cheers from ETn Smoky Mtns
Not being a huge rye fan, there are times when I just feel like rye whisky - so I only ever keep one bottle on the shelf. And I've only ever tried 7 different ryes, including the bottle of Pikesville I just picked up. I like it, but it does strike me as a high-rye bourbon, as opposed to the Bardstown Origin Rye I just finished off (which is 95% rye). So I totally agree with the statement that Pikesville is the bourbon drinker's rye. The Bardstown is my favorite RYE so far, because it;s nearly all rye in the mash bill.
Love a good hand tossed pepperoni pizza cooked in a brick oven, but I'll eat pizza anytime it's available! Got to try some Pikesville soon! Also got a great buy on a Russel's Reserve single barrel store pick today. Great show y'all!
I haven't had the Russell's Rye, but I have had the Pikesville and it was awesome! Highly recommend Pikesville, but I will be trying the Russell's down the road. Nice review!
I think if you go into thinking bourbon . Then of course pikesville will win. Folks that love spicy would probably lean Russell Reserve. Pikesville won before it all started. I would like to see a BLIND set of four. Those two in it for sure. Then see what happens. Thanks for sharing. Keep your glass full 🥃. Blessings from Gettysburg Pa…
If there was ever a time for y'all to do a true blind, that was definitely the time. The Bourbon Night Pikesville bias was pretty evident...lol! These are great videos, keep them coming!
I was fortunate to pick up a RR Single Barrel Rye as a dusty for $40. Glad I didn't pay current market price because I was rather disappointed at how it came across rather harsh. I love the RR Single Barrel Bourbon, but the rye didn't do it for me. It did get a little better after the bottle was open for a while, but not good enough to pay $60 for. On the other hand, I seem to prefer the WT 101 Rye to the WT 101 bourbon. For $22, the 101 rye is a decent bottle to have in the daily drink rotation. Regarding the Pikesville, I think I agree on the preference over RR SB Rye. It is more bourbon like. I have a similar feeling about Old Forester Rye albeit, on a lower shelf. The OF Rye comes across more bourbon like to me than either Rittenhouse or Wild Turkey 101 Rye. For that, I prefer it over those other two of similar price.
Speaking of bourbon and rye getting married, I've been enjoying new riff single barrel bourbon. Has a very high rye mash. Some barrels are decent some are great!
New Riff is very good 👍, I have the Single barrel @ barrel proof, I'd like to try the Bottled in Bond, I love those bec.they're always quality 😋, always 100 prf. and usually oak-- forward, cheers from ETn🤙🥃🥂
Chad, you are so lucky - your wife is so beautiful! Be faithful to her and you will be happy for the rest of your life. I have been married to my wife for over 35 years - she is the love of my life! Do not f**k up - you will regret it for the rest of your life!
Not terribly surprising for you guys. Would be interesting to see Old Forester up against Woodford, after your similar mashbill but different treatment comment.
Based on availability in 🇨🇦, I'll stick with Pikesville or its baby brother. If I do recall, y'all also prefered this rye to the Rare breed rye. And please don't tell me that Chad's fav pizza had pineapple as a topping. Either way, Cheers from 🇨🇦🥃
If you have an every day rye or bourbon you’re probably an alcoholic. I’d like for people to get away from the “every day drinker” moniker it makes the notion that drinking every day is acceptable and a healthy practice
I'm glad I'm not the only one who MUST line up the strip thing on the top and the bottle. LOL
It's one of my biggest pet peeves of whiskey drinking that or they line up the strip but it's on the wrong side so if it has writing it's just all messed up
Absolutely AND it has to be the right side, even if they line up, as it was before it was torn!

Yeah, the name of the channel certainly isn't "It's Rye Night."
I am a huge fan of that Pikesville
Pikesville Damn good Bourbon!!!
Pikesville is the rye that got me into ryes. Then I ran into Willet 4 year and found out how good ryes can be. Now my Pikesville lasts a LOT longer.
I finally bought Pikesville and have only had 3 drinks so far. Holy crap that's an insane price. It's roughly $50 USD here in the U.S.

Pikesville is on my list for ages. One day ... Cheers
Finally just found the Pikesville after looking forever. It doesn’t disappoint at all

So glad I stumbled on this video...was tempted to grab a bottle of Pikesville but didn't. I think I'll have to snag a bottle.
If there was ever a time for y'all to do a true blind, that was definitely the time. The Bourbon Night Pikesville bias was pretty evident...lol! These are great videos, keep them coming!
Pikesville is my go to neat pour, "thanks Sara". Bulliet Rye makes a delicious Old Fashion though.
You need a new T-shirt that says: “Rye Not?!”
Or perhaps, "Rye ask Rye?" Let's have groan, shall we? Lol
Bought a bottle of Pikesville solely on Sara’s utter devotion to it. Love it. Love it. Love it. Thank you Sara!

I just bought my first Pikesville and have enjoyed it as a neck pour so seeing this makes me feel even better. Plus I haven’t seen this WT rye around.
I wish my palette was as mature.... but it’s coming! Thanks for the great videos!
Foregone conclusion. Pikesville all the way.
Speaking of bourbon and rye getting married, I've been enjoying new riff single barrel bourbon. Has a very high rye mash. Some barrels are decent some are great!

The answer is
BOTH
Just popped my first Pikesville last night. Loved it! I’ll have to try the Russell’s now.
Yas glad to see this - was just considering picking up pikesville tomorrow
Fix it! Fix it! Thank you Chad. My OCD alarm went off the rails when Sarah did that 😁
Love them both
I think that these two whiskies are very comparable in flavor and quality. Can't go wrong with either.
I've always been a fan of Pikesville even thought I love very high rye ryes... I will seek out a Russells and try it for sure

What a weird thing to say
Pikesville is great stuff, but I prefer Knob Creek single barrel select rye. And for $45 you guys should try it. Just leave some for me 😁
High Rye or Dye
Pikesville, all day long! Thanks!
have you two tried the Senator? its from the people who started redemption and its an amazing 6 year mgp rye.
I drank both.👌🏾🥃
Pikes 39.99 at my favorite store.
Russel’s single barrel rye is soon becoming an allocated product here 😢
Picked up my first bottle of Pikesville the other day and it's been great so far. Also my first intro into ryes
You should try sagamore spirit cask strength..great rye
@@BeyWizard321 I'll keep an eye out for it. Thanks.
Pikesville? That really exists? I thought it was just an urban legend.
Pikesville is utterly delicious.
Not terribly surprising for you guys. Would be interesting to see Old Forester up against Woodford, after your similar mashbill but different treatment comment.
Where does sagamore rye rank?
Oh no ... Chad must be partial to Hawaiian pizza (with double pineapple)
Love pikesville will have to try that Russell's
Love wild turkey products.
But at 110 proof and 39.99 gimme pikes
Based on availability in 🇨🇦, I'll stick with Pikesville or its baby brother. If I do recall, y'all also prefered this rye to the Rare breed rye. And please don't tell me that Chad's fav pizza had pineapple as a topping. Either way, Cheers from 🇨🇦🥃
Not surprised. Russels doesn't do it for me all round
Have y'all tried the Chattanooga Rye?! Sooo good!
WHISKEY CHEERS
as a huge Rye fan pikesville let me down. it felts like a high rye bourbon instead of a real rye
Pikesville is indeed age-stated at 6 years
Russel's - Pikesville - ? ? ? Highwest ? ? ?
Be careful, you'll put your rye out.
Woooo
You're both Pikesville biased.
Stop making videos about Pikesville. We get it. You don't like rye.
