Im learning that the bigger tire is a huge cause for grinding to a stop due to mud. There has to be a warning that the tire being that close to the chain SENDS mud into the smaller sprocket which jams it to a stop. Apparently a chain guard may solve this but it has to guard the part the tire is near!
15psi is still high on a Dirtbike, with regular tubes. I personally run 8-10 psi front, and 5-8psi rear with tubliss, on goldentyre gt216x gummy rear, and gt216aa fatty front, on my Fe501.
I must admit I've upgraded pegs, chainring, levers,spring and a plastics pkg. I was going to revalve the forks this winter until the price doubled. The Ultra is my new traill bike and the full mod lite bee is a playbike now!
I actually ended up being faster day 2 - and it took less effort. I was just bouncing around a lot less. The problem with low pressure on the ebikes is not just the pinch flat but the tire slipping and pulling the tube away form the valve. All of the flats I have gotten on Sur Rons were from the valve getting torn off the tube when the tire slips. So far so good though.
@@emotobros that shouldn't happen if you have a good rim lock in there. The first thing I do when I buy a Sur-Ron is put rim locks and decent tires and tubes on them
Sidewall strength and flex are important when the suspension is not great you will tear things up quicker. Extra weight will run down that motor faster, as well as the wider n heavier those tires are my friend. Upgrading to a better rear shock could affect things a lot more then you realize. Then experiment with tires after you have dialed in the suspension frt & rear. I used to race pro BMX and motocross back in the 1970's into the 80's & l started racing again after my son was born & he was old enough to ride. Suspension needs to reflect your riding area, rocky vs sandy etc..., these are two different worlds and ur suspension needs to be setup accordingly, then play with tires. Lightweight gear, parts etc..., are huge factors, staying lightweight means faster times and longer riding times due to battery power. It's cool that you can run real MC tires but they are made for heavier bikes with real engines, electric motors are torque machines so sidewall flex could really change things. Oh and l used to do a lil road racing too back in my younger days. Used to go to the races and buy the "takeoffs" those tires were the racers practice tires, hot laps tires so l have a lot of experience in these areas my friends. Upgrade your suspension first, find the best setup for where you ride then go from there, IMHO & a lifelong experience.
Can you do a video on comparing light 12kw vs ultra for 5'7 riders and below? That weight deference is a little concerning for me, every thing else on ultra bee is better. So please help me decide if the upgrade to ultra is worth it. ✌

Storm bee is a great bike
Smart choice if you ride in silt, but come on guys. My choice is Dunlops on 21/18 and a roller chain. Thats all this bike needs!
Oh, and stock grips aren't great. I prefer Emig's.
Yup, grips are next on the list for sure. We do a decent amount of mud riding in the winter so our hope is the extra width will help in that terrain.

LOL you rode like a goon day 1 then day 2 very smooth and in control. Most people with a tubed tire gas bikes run 9-13 psi.

I run 2mm thick tubes and install a rim locks & dirt bike tires on my Sur-Rons. The problem I see with low pressure is it costs a bit of range.

You need alot more clearance than that for normal operation, that tire is too wide.

You just said you like the sound of the ultras gearbox instead of the light bees belt drive. Theres no gearbox its a belt drive
Sometimes it's easy to mispeak when trying to ride at the same time. Not sure what makes the change in sound exactly, but it is different.
@@emotobros I noticed cuz I'm hoping talaria will actually make an ultra bee but woth a gearbox. I like that design better for off road.
@@emotobrosmost likely due to the fact UltraBee does not run a 420 chain in favor of a much larger stronger 520 chain
