Amelie, this is just so beautiful! Thank you! I started playing in 1972 on an old Boosey and Hawkes bakelite flute that needed repadding at high school. Nobody else had a flute those days. It was a struggle! Kept going till I had worked for some years and upgraded to a solid silver flute which was stolen. After many years I have begun again, and you are such an inspiration to me. I love that this was written by a lady composer! I can play the slower sections but come unstuck on all those fast runs, keeping the timing especially when there are odd numbers of slurred notes. It is depressing to see 9 year old Jiu Lin Cheung playing it, from memory, for Sir James Galway at a masterclass! Perhaps you could make a tutorial to help us cope with those tricky passages in this lovely piece Amelia?
I'm a trombonist, but I adore this piece. I remember we played it one rehearsal and I was in the back with my trombone part getting sad again because we had so many rests (trombones in an orchestra, sigh). But once the flute soloist starting doing all the crazy runs, I remember the other trombonist and I staring at each other in disbelief. I had no idea something could sound so beautiful. As of now, it's still probably the most beautiful thing I've ever heard. It was so beautiful, that I didn't actually want to play on it (which never happens because I'm always eager to play), but for once, I just wanted to close my eyes and listen.
Dear Amélie, after a 23 years break, I am back to the flute world and you have contributed a lot. My daughter just started the clarinet... I tried to play with her and you imagine the disaster! However, with your tutos, it gave me back some basic technic but also strong motivation to pursue besides a strong frustration. Now, since close and direct human interactions are always necessary, I will take again lessons in September and my 33 years old Yamaha 221 flute is now fully revised and like new. Finally, your kindness and easiness to share your passion is remarkable. Not talking about the pieces you are playing... Deep, dedicated, colorful. Just a great artist in addition of an amazing technician. Hope to listen to you one day in France! Best regards, Jérôme.
Hello! I played this for Solo and Ensemble this year and I had an absolute blast learning it. You play amazing and keep doing what you love to do!!! Beautifully played
I’ve recently come to discover a piece called Automne by Chaminade on piano. I was a bit blind to other repertoire by Chaminade let alone piano. Definitely a composer I’d like to research more! You’ve inspired me with this!
Much better than I play it, of course, but tempo-wise: isn't if off? I feel like some notes end to early, and some start to late. Or have I learned this piece all wrong? No offense intended at all! I'm just curious to know.
It's a backing track that doesn't have much room to move around with the tempo. So I wouldn't worry to much about the tempo. But in general this version by tomplay is very very fast. When we're able to play with musicians again will do another live recording of this because I love it soooooooo much!
The Flute Channel this back track definitely reminds me of how james galway plays this piece, in my opinion this speed almost takes away from the beauty of the piece especially at the beginning
I have never played it, but my husband wants me to. I never heard of it until today. I am glad he thinks I could play this..... however I don't think I have the skills to... maybe one day I will surprised him.
Greeting you from the Czech Republic! I'm your huge fan! You're the best flute player I've ever heard. I try to practise Chaminade Concertino during quarantine :-)
Sounds gorgeous Amelie! I've acually always wanted to here you play this piece and the way you play it is absolutely outstanding! Also this is my favorite piece tied with Francois bornes Carmen fantasy. It would amazing to here you play carmen fantasy!😁
This is my flute challenge for next year, and its probably going to take all year to learn as there’s so much too it. I’ve already got the sheet music, but I’m also going to buy the piece through Tomplay for the accompaniment. I’m currently working on the Allegro movement of the Handel Flute Sonata in G Major and the Bach Prelude in C. Quite a bit of work to do on the Bach piece, but the Handel Flute Sonata is finally coming together. Thank you for a lovely version of the Chaminade Concertino. Keep up all of the hard work xx
Wow… it must be really restricting to play with a backtrack like this, but you did it fabulously. Especially that ending section. I want you to know that your channel inspires me.
Yeeeaaahhhhhh... you have a real talent. I am a brazilian guy here. Have you ever played brazilian "chorinho" with your flute??? I am really enjoying these videos!
Wow. Thats a tough one when you're locked into a backing track. There are accompaniment apps that can follow you, give you more flexibility in interpretation.
Really! Thats great! A lot of people love to play it for competitions! Happy you got a chance to play it. What's great is that its always great to program it in any concert! I just love it!
@@flutechannel OMG YOU REPLIED TO MY COMMENT. AHAHHAHHAHAHA. I'm sorry I love you guys so much. I finally was able to sub today. I legit remember the OG days where I would translate your stuff from french to english.
Hi! I'm such a big fan and I think you are AMAZING!!!! I'm currently learning kokopeli by katherine hoover with my flute teacher, but I would like someone to listen to out of my lesson. I've been playing this piece by chaminade for a while now, and I really enjoyed your how to practice videos! Could you consider doing a set of those for kokopeli? thanks it would mean so much to me :)
First don't be ashamed. It's normal and I would encourage you to try something you really love to play and start slowly back with 15 minutes of practice a day and then start adding more tone, technique, etc to it. Start small and enjoy playing. Best of luck and happy practicing.
Awww thanks so much Dylan! It really means a lot coming from you and I'm so happy your part of this amazing community! Happy practicing and looking forward to hearing from you!
@@flutechannel I would love for you to hear me play a song (I'm a beginner) but you inspire me to continue studying flute! I really speak Spanish but I know a little English and with the help of the translator I can understand more :)
Someone get her a Pianist! Now! You don't deserve midi backing tracks, it kills all the rubato and feeling. If you're playing with a midi piano, you'll sound like a midi flutist in terms of phrasing. A great flutist like you needs a pianist, because the subtle changes along with rubato really gives the piece its life. Great playing as always though.
Definitely the most popular piece for a reason 😍
Totally Carlos! Its just so jam packed full of awesomeness!
Scooter Macarthy 100%. I played this in my high school years. Now 10 years later I see it so differently.
Who's played this and know how much fun it is to play? Let me know! What are other crowd favorites of yours?
This is one of my favorites! I'm hopefully performing the chamimade this fall! I also love Carmen fantasy you should do a cover on it!
I played this for an audition for an honor wind ensemble and I got 6th chair. I was wondering if you can do some more picc content?
I am not this level yet. Someday... Marvellous your intrepretation!!!!👏👏👏👏👏👏
I played Chaminade for my junior recital. It's on my channel. Gotta admit some sections were difficult.
Amelie, this is just so beautiful! Thank you!
