    I've been using these to broadcast hockey games for 3 years now, and they're fantastic for that. Having a decent noise gate is helpful because they don't reject outside noise all that well, but otherwise they're great for live sports.

    about f'in time you did this headset review and its literally the best review for the bphs1 on youtube (i've listened to them all) - good shit bandrew - I definatly wont be getting this and heard the headphone get uncomfortable and wow I would entirly miss that warm lower sound that my voice projects - thanks

    Thank you very much! I was looking around for a headset that would work with the Focusrite, and you were the one to show me the way. I immediately made the purchase, and I made sure to use your aff link in the description rather then just going straight to Amazon. Thank you!!

    Congratulations on your work, Bandrew :) . I do own a couple of these. We're recording a podcast, not live yet, with a friend. After testing the Blue Yeti, and ATR2100, which have far better audio, I settled for the BPHS1 because of the all-in-one factor, portability, ambient noise rejection, easy monitoring, and to cut down on post processing times. My setup is BPHS1 > Simply Sound Mic Activator > Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 2nd Gen. In a previous review Bandrew didn't like the Simply Sound Mic Activator because of it adding some noise to the line, I think it was that, but in my case if there's noise it's hardly noticeable. Issues I'm having is mouth noises, which this headst picks up very well because of the proximity factor, but that's something I need to fix with good mic technique, etc, it's not the headset fault. And if you accidentally rub the cable against desk or shoulder the mic will pick up this noise. If you could review other headsets in this price / quality range it'll be great. I'm a fan of using headsets for podcast recording as you can guess. Just my 2 cents.

    • @Podcastage
      @Podcastage  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Andrew offered some great advice. I think the best option in getting rid of mouth noises would be a noise gate.

    • @AlfredoGorga
      @AlfredoGorga 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I already played with the gain settings. Thank you very much suggesting the use of a noise gate and for pointing me in the Booth Junkie direction, his tutorials are great. In regards to the virtual cable, that's a bit more obscure for me, I need to research. I'll post any progress here, I think it may be helpful for other fellow youtubers.

    Great job as usual. We have a problem I hope you can help us with. We do a radio show and frequently have guests who absolutely refuse to stay close enough to standalone mics. Often they are a bit older and uncomfortable with the idea of being in front of a mic anyway. We get frequent complaints about the in-again, out-again volume, and sometimes reminding the guest to speak into the mic annoys them and changes the tone of the interview. Of course we've tried to compensate with tricks, but the noise and other side effects are not desirable. Here's my latest idea: a good quality headset mic, perhaps with headphones. The priority for us is the mic quality; the headphones just have to be good enough to hear the other voices in the discussion. Any suggests for someone in our shoes?

    Replace the earcups with BrainWavs and this headset becomes a real beauty. That is the setup Seananners runs with and I always thought he had the best headset audio (when taking into account its noise cancellation).

    What are TOP 3 high-end wired headsets with microphone do you recommend? This is going to be mainly for online teaching. I am currently using Logitech Pro G X. I am happy with it. But I am looking for something better. I could use a separate headphone and microphone and interface, with this option, what do you recommend?

    Came back to this video to say I just saw the Audio Technica ATH-M50XSTS announced and it would be great to see you do a comparison of that the the BPHS1 (& maybe BPHS2). Appears like the new mic might be clearer than the BPHS1 but I wonder how much more environment noise it will pick up.

    2:00 on the proprietary connector: no it does not make sense.
    I'm a sound- and light engineer, and into electronics and mechanics.
    I agree that sometimes the most common type of connector is not the best solution. But there are so many types of standard connectors, you don't need an ëxclusive (ie expensive) one.
    From the looks of it, it's a 4-pole connector ( ground, left, right, mic)
    They could have made it with a trrs with threads, or an external strain,relief, or a 4-pin mini-xlr.
    Saw this video because I was looking into buying one of these headsets, but just this turned me off...

Looking for something that could work in commentary booth with some talking in the background and a PA-system outside that i'am afraid of will create eco in the broadcast if picked up by the microphone? Andrew M. Sheppard well this one costs 35$ and comes from manufacturer bm800 originated from, ISK BM800 costs 85$. And I'm pretty sure this particular model is not an NW700 clone because I have the NW700 and I can tell.

    • @Podcastage
      @Podcastage  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If I remember correctly, the 2i2 has quieter preamps than the H6. But you're likely mainly driving your mic from the DBX so you wouldn't see a huge benefit.

    The Dynamic on this thing isn't the worst I've heard, and it's probably leagues better than 80% of headset mics on the market these days, but boy do these sound like there's just something missing when you talk. Kinda like talking into a cheaper end cellphone or walkie talkie. It does sound clear at least though. Color me curious about what it would sound like through a Cloudlifter, even if that would kinda kill the point.

      I watched all the videos in the playlist "Gaming Headset Reviews" and I can't decide which headsets I should buy, so I decided to ask you what you think which headsets on this playlist have the best sounding mic. So I need a microphone that doesn't pickup a lot of background noise and sounds clear. And I'm wondering what's the best way to improve audio quality is it an USB adapter, a sound card, or something else? Thanks for answering!

      Have you checked the Audio Technica ATH-PG1?

    • @czdaniel1
      @czdaniel1 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ATH-PG1 is not exactly "budget" at $130 -- I think the Sades SA-900 series would be a good bet for low budget headset mics (about $30). Note, they are VERY plastic and plastics will become brittle and break after a year or two. But at least that kind of break can be fixxed with duct tape.

    I imagine something like this would be used for audio monitoring or some sort of media production (be it audio, film, or theatre). Honestly though I'm surprised that it has a dynamic mic (supports the production theory) with that wide of a frequency response.
    For people who will be asking, yeah it'll work just fine for voice chatting and video commentary, but remember it's a dynamic mic so don't try it for anything where you want a ton of sensitivity.

    • @Podcastage
      @Podcastage  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was referring to Video Game let's plays. For lets plays I think they'd be better off with a dynamic cardioid mic, an interface, and a stand alone set of headphones. As far as an all in one CARDIOID headset for conventions, this is the only one I've tested...but I believe Sennheiser makes some, and I heard their $450 headset and it sounds amazing...but that's 2.5x the cost of this, so it's not necessarily comparable.

    You should do the BPHS 2

    @ 1:25 -- I think the padding in the BPHS-1 is basically insulation...What's great for keeping heat in a building is great at keeping sound out.
    _This is my suspicion. I have not researched beyond putting them on my head for few hours_
    On a side note:
    *You would be surprised by how much research I perform just by putting stuff on my head!!*
    _[joke alert for the ironically stupid who take seriously every absurd comedically stupid comment]_

    Best headset mic for singing live or recording ?

    • @touchme7461
      @touchme7461 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Probably wouldn't use a headset mic for that.

      And yes, I'm no singer, but don't see these ones working well in your case.

    • @Podcastage
      @Podcastage  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure. I'd probably look into whatever people like Justin Beiber use in their stage shows since they don't hold mics. It's probably really expensive.

    Please can you recommend microphone for singing (vocals) under 40$ which works fine without phantom power or audio interface. BUT I CAN BUY A USB SOUNDCARD. PLEASE suggest me. Thanks.

    • @Podcastage
      @Podcastage  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not one that I can think of that I'd recommend without a usb interface. Maybe wait for the Samson Q2u to go on sale.

      The sound would be quite different. I have not done a direct comparison. But checking both my reviews next to each other should give you a good idea.
