I want to point out that this started with a neutral route, but did a Genocide route first before the Pacifist one. So in the end when the video is ending everyone's faces is scratched out just like what happens when you make a Pacifist after a Genocide, the attention to detail of this video can only be compared to the awesomeness of the music itself ♥

It's true! It's probably one of the most in depth choice based games to ever be created. It's simple mechanics allowed room for interesting characterization during fights. Every single enemy had a hand crafted attack pattern, a way to beat them without fighting, and most even had a specific personality and character. It was able to deliver an intense experience whenever it built up a key fight. The game as a whole gives the term 'replayability' a whole new meaning, due to the fact that the game had layers upon layers of outcomes prepared for very specific actions, most of which required you to save and load, something that is usually treated as a simple mechanic in other games. Every single key song utterly slaps. There are an uncountable number of remixes of every single song created by passionate fans (this video as proof) The game it'self mixes world building and player experience in a way that makes you CARE a ton about what is happening in the game. It's rare for a game with such basic mechanics like this to be so chock full of personality, and passion, which is why I think the internet just doesn't want to let go of it.
I've been in this fandom for almost a year now, And I realize that I've been getting caught up in all of the aus and ocs and things like that, that I've almost forgotten that all of this came from this little rpg, this humble video game, that became so much more... My favorite thing this fandom has made is Undertale Yellow. While not an AU,i love the characters in it just as much as i love the characters in undertale (minus jerry....),and i personally consider it canon (only the demo though,i'm not gonna consider the full game canon for personal reasons)

My favorite part about this compilation is the characters in the background. I love how they are added or removed or changed depending on the story's progress. It's great attention to detail that goes so far for the video.
I love how the eyes represent that that’s all that you see, you don’t care about the monsters anymore, and how they fade away in the Genocide run, showing how the monsters are dying. And also how the edges get blurrier and the screen gets gradually darker and redder, showing how you are gaining Lvl and “distancing themselves” more. I also love how during both the Undyne the Undying fight and the Sans fight it shows all the monsters again, showing how these bosses represent their hope, and how in the Sans fight, you shatter it.

I remember when I first played undertale in December, I'd been begging my dad if I could buy it. Then on christmas eve, he woke me up in the middle of the night and told me to look at my computer. That was a great day. Undertale is a great game, and it really is a shame to see the fanbase devolve into what it is now.
Here's how I think about it. The "fanbase" which everyone's hates so much made this. And the other remixes, AMVs, art pieces, comics, animations, lets plays and other such beautiful works of additional creativity. Fox did something beautiful, but it's not very beautiful if no one is around to appreciate it.
A lot of the fanbase is bad, that's true, but there are good and bad fans. It's just sad to see that people hate undertale so much because of the r34. It's a great game, it really is.
It's one of the few things where sexualisation just doesn't fit, I'll grant you that. But I guess that's for the same reason that you wouldn't sexualise good friends, which is because you know them to well to see them in that kind of way. Still, I don't think you can enjoy something badly, that's just not how art works
I didn't really mean the whole fanbase, it's just sad to see people say "UNDERTALE IS CANCER" even though a lot of the people who say that haven't played the game for themselves and only looked at the "bad side" of the fandom on Tumblr and just get preconceptions that Undertale is terrible. Small correction, September 15th. But, yes, the most beautiful game of the century, and maybe longer!! Even if *those* people came in(which happens in every fandom, you can't blame one of them for being cancer because of it when chances are, a fandom you're in has WAY more), it's still very beautiful, motivating, AND inspiring.

Shit the undertale fandom never disappoints. That ending part was so beautiful I almost cried. I really like how the characters are slowly being added in the art depending how far you are in the journey. Not only that all the characters are there even the rock!
I love the art and music! Sometimes I wonder if people who are new to UNDERTALE watches this first and then is amazed by the bosses, soundtrack and story.

This is a lovely medley. It has so many well-done tracks, and I like some of the choices for instruments in many of the songs. Probably what I like about this the most, however, is the fact that the music itself tells a story. The beginning begins all jaunty and such as we're introduced to the game, with Flowey's jaunty melodies and the battle music being typical. Then, at about 1:40 things go quiet as we're introduced to a serious moment, the first boss fight. Then, we get one of the more literary sections, where we get a slow, mysterious tuba&techno and other low melodies (3:15) which seems serious, but then the tension is dissolved with the iconic whoopee cushion and a really goofy version of Sans's theme. We get a lot of happy tunes from here on out as we meet more and more friendly monster friends. Then, (4:45) a mysterious Dogbass is used to open up the iconic Bonetrousle, the trailer version's melody being used to close what could be considered the first section of the game. After that, (5:53) we get a bunch of low melodies like Undyne and Waterfall, giving us a feel for those dark, damp and enormous caves of Waterfall. Then, after the wonderfully heroic melody of the bird, (6:50) it closes into the goofy saxaphone vibe of that Dummy, which came out of nowhere and is indeed one of the more iconic boss fights (and more awesome theme songs). After a brief pause (7:50) the music remembers the insanity of Temmie Village and we get that jarringly insane tune added in, but suddenly, (8:25) Undyne practically ambushes us with her leitmotif and we are involved in a great knightly duel. After that, we fittingly transfer into Another Medium (9:23) which is an entirely new environment, with it's nice jazzy tunes, which Alphys fits in quite well with. But, what's this we're falling into (10:36) ? Oh dear God, what's this jumbled up ball of insanity (10:51) just hiding in the corner? I have to say, though, this is the absolute best arrange of this song there is. Other people don't like this theme, but, I always thought it's creative melodies had a lot of potential, and the artist really took it to the next level. And while our hearts are pumping with this insane melody, we get a seamless transfer (11:06) into an intense boss fight, which is of another great theme with a lot of creativeness applied to it. (11:52) And as usual, this artist is using low, mysterious songs to transfer us somewhere else, and it's brilliant. Like with the Sans pre-motif, we have no idea what we're building up to, until we get the wonderful surprise of Mettaton's wonderful singing voice (12:15) which he absolutely carries the show away with. (12:55) And after that wonderful show, we get a grandiose melody of the CORE, which, because it shares melodies with Death by Glamour, it foreshadows and builds up to this song. (13:25) And with a slight change in lighting, we get into the glorious dance party master/pop culture king that is Metatton's memorable theme. But the party can't go on forever, and the melody ends the same way you'd turn off a television, and we get a modest tone (14:27) that's braving against the quiet, which turns into a grand, tumpetting king's introduction, telling you 'this is the end!' Then it's intense final boss time, (14:50) with a more techno, really fast-paced ASGORE. But once the battle is finally over (16:26) it's finally the end and everything's going to be fine (16:45) Oh but what's this? Oh, it's that stupid jerk! What's going on?! (17:00) It's an entirely new playing field, which opens up with a piano melody as if it were some sort of dance recital, before, going into the long, drawn-out melodies and the quicker jaunty tunes that represent Flowey. He's messing with you, giving you false senses of hope and despair. (18:19) All goes quiet. You have a very faint memory in your head, or is it really your memory? Still (19:08) something else pops into your head, a sort of curiosity. You decide, it's time to play the game again, and see what happens. (19:14) You're in a battle, but, something's different. You have a different goal this time around. Stronger Monsters is my favorite track in this entire medley, from a storytelling perspective. No, it's not something that plays during a genocide run, but like a genocide run, you end up hearing it because you want to play again to see something different. It's got a great bass buildup, which leads into a really harsh tone, like something is terribly wrong and twisted, which, of course, turns out to be you on your great murderous rampage. The artistic choice on the monsters in the background is quite nice too. It's not that the monsters are suddenly evil and alien, no, it's that you've alienated yourself from the monsters, cut yourself off from any emotional attachment, in order to 'play the game'. The music plays on like a chorus of some sort, but it's killing montage music. You can just see the images flash by in your head as the player character goes ahead and kills everything in their path in quick succession. (20:01) But, what's this? There's a sudden stop in your rampage, as suddenly, (20:19) the Heroine appears! She's practically the only one there to stop your murderous rampage from progressing any further, and like a hero (20:07) she'll do anything in her power to stop you, because everybody's hearts are beating as one with one goal; to defeat you! (21:27) But alas, it's all for not, as the last of that fighting spirit becomes Free EXP. With that final strike, the fate of the rest of the underground is more or less sealed. (21:35) But what's this leitmotif? We've heard it before, that mysterious tuba. From a literary standpoint, this really represents a lot of things. Sans approaches you in the same way he did in the beginning, with an unsure, mysterious melody with that deadly techno, because as he said, had he not made that promise, you would have been dead where you stood. Well, he's back, and this time, he goes through with it, and completely takes you by surprise with his intensity (21:47) turning into an all-out no-holds-barred showdown. (22:00) With memory of the past being the fire that fuels this fight, it's go time. Megalovania is a song with demonic melodies that represent nothing but pure hatred. And with a final strike, everything ends. Or does it (23:20)? That can't be the end! You have to find a way to go back, reset the past, and try again! There's still something hiding in this game that you must uncover, perhaps something like a true meaning. And by following one lead you think is going somewhere, you end up somewhere entirely different (23:33) and in order to redeem yourself, you must look in the face of horror and reach that dark night of the soul to atone for your crimes and come out entirely reborn. (24:27) Atoning for your sins, coming from the depths of ignorance and evil, you have fond the right path and become a hero, a saint, and everybody is counting on you! (25:13) But what's this? It's the sound of somebody you haven't seen in a very long time... Your best friend, (25:30) ASRIEL DREMURR! Now, this is the true end, something that is both a climax and a denouement! Your travels have been long, and you've been through a lot, you made many new friends, and learned many new lessons. Thanks for the good memories, but now it's time for everything to end. (27:42) And, finally, you have found the true ending you have always been trying to achieve from the very end. It took a lot of effort, and some soul-searching, but now, you've SAVED everyone. (29:29) And now, it's time to say goodnight to this tale... ... (29:55) But we all know what kind of person you truly are. You're the kind that is NEVER satisfied after all. Honestly, this is an amazing composition, from start to finish, and probably is the best retelling of Undertale I've ever observed, which is perfect for it's 1-year anniversary. It takes us back through the memories, and retells the story we all know, with it's own little interpretations added in. And it does all this entirely through instrumental music, which I must, say, is genius. Sure, it's genius on Toby Fox's part, who's iconic compositions make the Undertale experience absolutely perfect (the game just wouldn't be the same without the music, as the music has a profound affect on how we experience and remember it individually) this video's composer has arranged the music and instrumentation that has an affect that cannot be understated. I'm almost willing to say that this medley has a better story to it than the game itself, which sounds ridiculous for entirely instrumental music, but, when you analyze it like I did, and even just idly listening to it while the images pop in your head the way you interpret them, you'd have to agree that this medley has found a way to really get to you, the same way Undertale itself did. Hanzaki, two thumbs up of determination to you! Of all the Undertale fan content, I'd say your work here is the grand master of it all.

Honestly this is one of my favourite fan-generated works of art ever, it's genuinely brilliantly produced, amazingly composed, truly memorable with loads of great unique moments in it. I always hear this and think it'd be the boss theme for a super long boss fight against Toby Fox himself in the game lmao, he uses all the powers of all the different monsters and enemies. It's a fuckin lit mashup album.
i'm coming back to this grandiose song because it's honestly been way too king since i've heard it. this is still, to this day, my favorite remix rendition of the entire undertale album together.
I love how each area is a different genre! The ruins is more of a happy hardcore vibe, while snowdin is definitely more swing based. Waterfall is a mixed bunch, but (from what I can tell) is symphonic hardcore based. Hotland is electro swing mostly, just listen to another medium :D Asgore/New home is the same as the ruins, referring to toriel previously living with asgore, and them being the same type/species/race of monster. Once upon a time is a mix of them all, same as omega flowey.

How could there possibly be an undertale 2? The story was so finished and the unexpected fourth-wall/meta/moral of the game wouldn't be a surprise anymore the second time round. Also, the thing I like most about Undertale is that it's perfectly polished and refined in all details/easter eggs, you can't just have Toby pull perfection off twice.

I keep coming back to this even now, approaching the 4th anniversary. It's just so good, the attention to detail in everything, the artwork, the Japanese text and heck, even the soul colour displaying the number! And of course, the music itself is incredible...
I like that the implication from the pictures is that frisk did a neutral route, then genocide, and then went back and tried to fix everything with true pacifist, getting the soulless pacifist ending.

I had a dream about making a game with a great story from my childhood, UNDERTALE made my dream become bigger. I hope one day that dream will come true.
I've seen this video so many times and I just now noticed that the monsters' eyes disappear based on how far Frisk is in the genocide route. Nice touch. The attention to detail in this whole video is great.

I want to point out that this started with a neutral route, but did a Genocide route first before the Pacifist one. So in the end when the video is ending everyone's faces is scratched out just like what happens when you make a Pacifist after a Genocide, the attention to detail of this video can only be compared to the awesomeness of the music itself ♥

It's true! It's probably one of the most in depth choice based games to ever be created. It's simple mechanics allowed room for interesting characterization during fights. Every single enemy had a hand crafted attack pattern, a way to beat them without fighting, and most even had a specific personality and character. It was able to deliver an intense experience whenever it built up a key fight. The game as a whole gives the term 'replayability' a whole new meaning, due to the fact that the game had layers upon layers of outcomes prepared for very specific actions, most of which required you to save and load, something that is usually treated as a simple mechanic in other games.
Every single key song utterly slaps. There are an uncountable number of remixes of every single song created by passionate fans (this video as proof)
The game it'self mixes world building and player experience in a way that makes you CARE a ton about what is happening in the game.
It's rare for a game with such basic mechanics like this to be so chock full of personality, and passion, which is why I think the internet just doesn't want to let go of it.

My favorite thing this fandom has made is Undertale Yellow. While not an AU,i love the characters in it just as much as i love the characters in undertale (minus jerry....),and i personally consider it canon (only the demo though,i'm not gonna consider the full game canon for personal reasons)

I love how the eyes represent that that’s all that you see, you don’t care about the monsters anymore, and how they fade away in the Genocide run, showing how the monsters are dying. And also how the edges get blurrier and the screen gets gradually darker and redder, showing how you are gaining Lvl and “distancing themselves” more. I also love how during both the Undyne the Undying fight and the Sans fight it shows all the monsters again, showing how these bosses represent their hope, and how in the Sans fight, you shatter it.

I remember when I first played undertale in December, I'd been begging my dad if I could buy it. Then on christmas eve, he woke me up in the middle of the night and told me to look at my computer. That was a great day. Undertale is a great game, and it really is a shame to see the fanbase devolve into what it is now.
Here's how I think about it. The "fanbase" which everyone's hates so much made this. And the other remixes, AMVs, art pieces, comics, animations, lets plays and other such beautiful works of additional creativity. Fox did something beautiful, but it's not very beautiful if no one is around to appreciate it.
A lot of the fanbase is bad, that's true, but there are good and bad fans. It's just sad to see that people hate undertale so much because of the r34. It's a great game, it really is.
It's one of the few things where sexualisation just doesn't fit, I'll grant you that. But I guess that's for the same reason that you wouldn't sexualise good friends, which is because you know them to well to see them in that kind of way. Still, I don't think you can enjoy something badly, that's just not how art works
I didn't really mean the whole fanbase, it's just sad to see people say "UNDERTALE IS CANCER" even though a lot of the people who say that haven't played the game for themselves and only looked at the "bad side" of the fandom on Tumblr and just get preconceptions that Undertale is terrible. I dunno.

This is a lovely medley. It has so many well-done tracks, and I like some of the choices for instruments in many of the songs. Probably what I like about this the most, however, is the fact that the music itself tells a story.
The beginning begins all jaunty and such as we're introduced to the game, with Flowey's jaunty melodies and the battle music being typical. Then, at about 1:40 things go quiet as we're introduced to a serious moment, the first boss fight. Then, we get one of the more literary sections, where we get a slow, mysterious tuba&techno and other low melodies (3:15) which seems serious, but then the tension is dissolved with the iconic whoopee cushion and a really goofy version of Sans's theme. We get a lot of happy tunes from here on out as we meet more and more friendly monster friends. Then, (4:45) a mysterious Dogbass is used to open up the iconic Bonetrousle, the trailer version's melody being used to close what could be considered the first section of the game.
After that, (5:53) we get a bunch of low melodies like Undyne and Waterfall, giving us a feel for those dark, damp and enormous caves of Waterfall. Then, after the wonderfully heroic melody of the bird, (6:50) it closes into the goofy saxaphone vibe of that Dummy, which came out of nowhere and is indeed one of the more iconic boss fights (and more awesome theme songs). After a brief pause (7:50) the music remembers the insanity of Temmie Village and we get that jarringly insane tune added in, but suddenly, (8:25) Undyne practically ambushes us with her leitmotif and we are involved in a great knightly duel.
After that, we fittingly transfer into Another Medium (9:23) which is an entirely new environment, with it's nice jazzy tunes, which Alphys fits in quite well with. But, what's this we're falling into (10:36) ? Oh dear God, what's this jumbled up ball of insanity (10:51) just hiding in the corner? I have to say, though, this is the absolute best arrange of this song there is. Other people don't like this theme, but, I always thought it's creative melodies had a lot of potential, and the artist really took it to the next level. And while our hearts are pumping with this insane melody, we get a seamless transfer (11:06) into an intense boss fight, which is of another great theme with a lot of creativeness applied to it.
(11:52) And as usual, this artist is using low, mysterious songs to transfer us somewhere else, and it's brilliant. Like with the Sans pre-motif, we have no idea what we're building up to, until we get the wonderful surprise of Mettaton's wonderful singing voice (12:15) which he absolutely carries the show away with. (12:55) And after that wonderful show, we get a grandiose melody of the CORE, which, because it shares melodies with Death by Glamour, it foreshadows and builds up to this song. (13:25) And with a slight change in lighting, we get into the glorious dance party master/pop culture king that is Metatton's memorable theme.
But the party can't go on forever, and the melody ends the same way you'd turn off a television, and we get a modest tone (14:27) that's braving against the quiet, which turns into a grand, tumpetting king's introduction, telling you 'this is the end!' Then it's intense final boss time, (14:50) with a more techno, really fast-paced ASGORE. But once the battle is finally over (16:26) it's finally the end and everything's going to be fine (16:45) Oh but what's this? Oh, it's that stupid jerk! What's going on?!
(17:00) It's an entirely new playing field, which opens up with a piano melody as if it were some sort of dance recital, before, going into the long, drawn-out melodies and the quicker jaunty tunes that represent Flowey. He's messing with you, giving you false senses of hope and despair.
(18:19) All goes quiet. You have a very faint memory in your head, or is it really your memory? Still (19:08) something else pops into your head, a sort of curiosity. You decide, it's time to play the game again, and see what happens.
(19:14) You're in a battle, but, something's different. You have a different goal this time around. Stronger Monsters is my favorite track in this entire medley, from a storytelling perspective. No, it's not something that plays during a genocide run, but like a genocide run, you end up hearing it because you want to play again to see something different. It's got a great bass buildup, which leads into a really harsh tone, like something is terribly wrong and twisted, which, of course, turns out to be you on your great murderous rampage. The artistic choice on the monsters in the background is quite nice too. It's not that the monsters are suddenly evil and alien, no, it's that you've alienated yourself from the monsters, cut yourself off from any emotional attachment, in order to 'play the game'. The music plays on like a chorus of some sort, but it's killing montage music. You can just see the images flash by in your head as the player character goes ahead and kills everything in their path in quick succession.
(20:01) But, what's this? There's a sudden stop in your rampage, as suddenly, (20:19) the Heroine appears! She's practically the only one there to stop your murderous rampage from progressing any further, and like a hero (20:07) she'll do anything in her power to stop you, because everybody's hearts are beating as one with one goal; to defeat you! (21:27) But alas, it's all for not, as the last of that fighting spirit becomes Free EXP. With that final strike, the fate of the rest of the underground is more or less sealed.
(21:35) But what's this leitmotif? We've heard it before, that mysterious tuba. From a literary standpoint, this really represents a lot of things. Sans approaches you in the same way he did in the beginning, with an unsure, mysterious melody with that deadly techno, because as he said, had he not made that promise, you would have been dead where you stood. Well, he's back, and this time, he goes through with it, and completely takes you by surprise with his intensity (21:47) turning into an all-out no-holds-barred showdown. (22:00) With memory of the past being the fire that fuels this fight, it's go time. Megalovania is a song with demonic melodies that represent nothing but pure hatred. And with a final strike, everything ends.
Or does it (23:20)? That can't be the end! You have to find a way to go back, reset the past, and try again! There's still something hiding in this game that you must uncover, perhaps something like a true meaning. And by following one lead you think is going somewhere, you end up somewhere entirely different (23:33) and in order to redeem yourself, you must look in the face of horror and reach that dark night of the soul to atone for your crimes and come out entirely reborn. (24:27) Atoning for your sins, coming from the depths of ignorance and evil, you have fond the right path and become a hero, a saint, and everybody is counting on you!

Honestly, this is an amazing composition, from start to finish, and probably is the best retelling of Undertale I've ever observed, which is perfect for it's 1-year anniversary. It takes us back through the memories, and retells the story we all know, with it's own little interpretations added in. And it does all this entirely through instrumental music, which I must, say, is genius. Sure, it's genius on Toby Fox's part, who's iconic compositions make the Undertale experience absolutely perfect (the game just wouldn't be the same without the music, as the music has a profound affect on how we experience and remember it individually) this video's composer has arranged the music and instrumentation that has an affect that cannot be understated. I'm almost willing to say that this medley has a better story to it than the game itself, which sounds ridiculous for entirely instrumental music, but, when you analyze it like I did, and even just idly listening to it while the images pop in your head the way you interpret them, you'd have to agree that this medley has found a way to really get to you, the same way Undertale itself did.
Hanzaki, two thumbs up of determination to you! Of all the Undertale fan content, I'd say your work here is the grand master of it all.

i'm coming back to this grandiose song because it's honestly been way too king since i've heard it. this is still, to this day, my favorite remix rendition of the entire undertale album together.
I love how each area is a different genre! The ruins is more of a happy hardcore vibe, while snowdin is definitely more swing based. Waterfall is a mixed bunch, but (from what I can tell) is symphonic hardcore based. Hotland is electro swing mostly, just listen to another medium :D
Asgore/New home is the same as the ruins, referring to toriel previously living with asgore, and them being the same type/species/race of monster. Once upon a time is a mix of them all, same as omega flowey.

How could there possibly be an undertale 2? The story was so finished and the unexpected fourth-wall/meta/moral of the game wouldn't be a surprise anymore the second time round.
Also, the thing I like most about Undertale is that it's perfectly polished and refined in all details/easter eggs, you can't just have Toby pull perfection off twice.

I like that the implication from the pictures is that frisk did a neutral route, then genocide, and then went back and tried to fix everything with true pacifist, getting the soulless pacifist ending.

I've seen this video so many times and I just now noticed that the monsters' eyes disappear based on how far Frisk is in the genocide route. Nice touch. The attention to detail in this whole video is great.
