I don't think anyone at Virginia Tech would say that Michael Brewer was a great (let alone good) QB for us, but he was a TOUGH SOB. Always loved the effort he put in, game in, and game out.
Man was he ever one tough dude, he was constantly getting hammered, but kept getting up and coming back for more. Will never forget the effort he put in for the Hokies.
Would have won the Ohio State game in Blacksburg had he not gone down with an injury was leading at half and had all the momentum.
How Ohio State went on to win the national championship after getting crushed by Virginia Tech we will never know.
Urban Meyer went off on them and made them play way way way better

Urban Meyer probably went off his team after this game and then his team found their identity and rhythm.
Michael Brewer was so underrated. Also Bucky Hodges cooked in this game. One of the best game plans on defense in the Bud Foster era
You usually only hear the losing team complain about the referees, but I had forgotten about how much they tried to help Ohio St. in the second half. Had a coworker who was a big Ohio fan who called Va Tech a "cupcake" before this game, guess he wasn't the only one who had this attitude.
this was a great game why ruin it with lame conspiracy theories about refs...

I think Virginia Tech wins. Hey, y'all. Good Police Officer let me off with a warning back in '08. Driving on the freeway at Michigan's speed limit. Was driving from Holland, MI to Blacksburg, VA. If the officer on duty (should be, smart people make it in life, Ohio has a lot of smart people), thanks! Oh, he liked VT! (I had a VT sticker on my car)! I bet you, OhioSU wins it all this season!
I'm no coach but the biggest problem I saw was that we never adjused to their defensive scheme. They just kept blitzing and blitzing and blitzing. If we had adjusted and called some quick passes and screens and made the game a bit easier on a freshman QB this might have been a different game.
In the end it was a win/win situation, VT won their best game of the season, and Ohio State won the championship.

Great game, it would of been a different game if Braxton played he knew the offense both of our QBs it was there second game, even though yours didnt play for 22 months, he really improved throughout the season as our diminished after this performance, hopefully we switch to brendan motley, he has a big frame and suits our offense a little more. Look forward to the game in the Lane stadium next season. Good luck in the Championship rooting for you !

Giosue Mancini VT didn't take advantage of anyone,they had as many freshman & 1st time starters as the Buckeyes.The difference was Bud Foster,VT's DC.But this game could had went the other way easily.I look for Ohio St to try and hang 100 on the scoreboard this coming year.I agree that they are going to be pissed off but sometimes that can be a team's own worst enemy.If VT stays healthy in the of season,I look for Ohio State to win 35-24.
garageguy879 OSU was the 2nd youngest team in college football this year next to TENN and had to rebuild the OL almost entirely. Bud Foster knew that and exploited it with his veteran DL. this will not be successfully debated by you, sir. this was a known fact that was talked about all off season by OSU media. we also had 4 new guys in the back 7 (3 in the secondary). a 1st year starter QB (2), RB, H-Backs (2), WRs (2). I'm curious as to how young VT was.
Andrew Bibbins your defense might have not been a fluke, nobody is disputing that, but our offense certainly was that night. you gotta take into account that VT's DL will not be facing a brand new OL this year in their 1st big stage game. they're gonna be lining up across from National Champs. that Double Eagle scheme is NOT gonna work. the way VT beat OSU last year wasn't the same way VT beat 6 other teams.
pretty much our whole offense is back. we lost 3 SRs on offense and 4 on D. nobody from either side left early. if this is less than a 21pt win its a loss, imo. thats not sayin VT is gonna be bad, OSU is just gonna be that much better that night. this game is circled. OSU historically KILLS teams in revenge games.
