I call the Genki chapter dedicated to this topic the confusing "holy trinity". It took much time to get my mind wrapped around it >.< I'm happy to see a video about it.
Hello! I am learning japanese and in my spare time i like to watch japanese lessons on youtube. I saw many channels but i found Miku as the best one so far. The way of teaching, making excercises is so efficient. Also grammar is explained very clearly. This channel is great to learn and memorize new material. Great job.
It's amazing that Miku Sensei can somehow read our minds, and that's why her videos always give us something extra, even after an extensive coverage of the topic. Great hearts do conquer!
Woowww, you’re a star! Great teacher, best language teacher on the internet as far as I am concerned. Amazing for kids, amazing for adults alike. Looking forward to all your content, short and long form.
Living in Osaka myself and hearing Japanese all the time your video's help me a lot to improve and understand many situations. Thank you so much for your great video's!
This video is quite long but very informative. When my sensei explained it to me, i yawned all the time because it was so confusing. But you made it simpler and very clear. I ate my lunch while watching this video. Nihonggo when taught by a Japanese is really fun and simple. Thank you Miku sensei
Starting from this lesson, my formal lesson in college got postponed and become offline learning. So there's no way i could maximally learn. But, i learnt a lot through your videos Miku-sensei. Thank you so much!
I was just learning these verbs and kind of struggling, because in the languages I speak (bulgarian, spanish and english) they are interchangable. Thank you very much, you just earned I new sub!
To all nihongo lessons I have been watched on youtube and other online sites.. Your videos was the best. It’s really practical and useful. All your topics and lessons are very essential to my journey in learning Japanese language.. Thankyou sensei. You are very funny person as well. Greetings from Philippines😊

Thank you so much, Miku-sensei! :] In order to keep track on what I've learned and all the material you give us through Patreon, I started a OneNote notebook and called it ローラの日本語ノート. Not sure whether this is right, though :D But now I have a grammar section where I arranged all the expressions I've learned so far and I included links to your videos and your shadowing audios and pdfs along with more example sentences, explanations and other links. Took me quite some time working on this video and writing down alle the rules and examples. But it's so worth it. I still think of myself as a beginner but looking at my OneNote makes me proud. Especially because I've been learning Japanese for over a year now. But all by myself because my current workload makes it hard to attend classes. So I'm making slow progress but still... it's more than I knew a year ago :D I'm looking forward to your next videos! They are so entertaining! Glad I found you! :]

Been studying Nihongo for 2 years, and this あげる/くれる “good thing” is so new to me. You’re a brilliant teacher, Miku. You’re born to do this kind of stuffs. You found your calling.. Much appreciated, thank you kindly.
Miku sensei siento que tiene mucho talento no sólo enseñando sino que usted responde a mis dudas ofreciéndonos una información valiosa本当ありがとうございました!!!:')
Hi, Miku Sensei! I don't have, as of now, a Japanese keyboard to write in japanese, so English would have to do! I started learning japanese with one of those intermediate courses, which had tons of historical stories, so I must admit that it helped me not only to learn a lot about the language, but also about japan's history and customs. I also had lots of japanese acquaintances and some good friends and so on, so speaking japanese wasn't an intangible to me. Then when I finally visited japan, I bought some useful and interesting books, at least for me. Amongst them Seigi Ozawua's biography in japanese, the former Boston Pops orchestra conductor, and read them all. This was a long time ago and since I wanted to refresh my Japanese, I came across one of your videos. I'm fluent in several languages and I must confess that your lessons are not only fun to watch and helarious sometimes, but VERY informative and insightful. As a matter of fact you have cleared up many grammatical doubts I had that my Japanese friends didn't know how to explain and made me aware of nuances that I sort of sensed, but now I know for sure! Miku Sensei wa yoroshiku onegaishimasu! Honto ni umai Sensei da to omoimasu yo!
You don't need a japanese keyboard. Just go to language settings and enable the input method for Japanese. Then, you simply type in english and it will be written in japanese. Let's say you want to type 日本, にほん, you'd type "Nihon" and press the space bar and you'll get the options to type it in katakana, hiragana or kanji. I hope it helps.
I think 16:55 is the source of confusion when it comes to these verbs. There is a difference in English between when you receive and when you are given.くれる still is the act of giving, not receiving, that is why the subject is still the giver. At 46:57 you ask us to translate "Who gave it to you?" Which would translate to 誰が(あなたに)あげたの。You do translate it with だれにもらったの。But that translates to English as "From whom did you receive it?" もらう is the act of receiving, not giving. Summary: To give あげる neutral, I give, you give, she gives, they give くれる humble, I am/we are given (only when you or your family is the recipient) To receive もらう neutral, I receive, you receive, he receives, they receive いただく humble, I am/we are receiving This is still the least confusing lesson on this topic I found so far. Thank you Miku.
