At this point I'm pretty comfortable with these forms of expressing regret but I remember that I struggled when I was first learning with them. I wish this video existed then. You make it so simple and easy to understand. I also like that you include the ~たらよかった option and the Kansai-ben versions (I lived in Osaka for a few years and so the ～たらよかった、～へんかったらよかった forms are my go-to's). Finally, its great that you also give example sentences that include more advanced vocab.

It's been a week since I started learning these conditional forms and your video was so helpful! But I'm still a little bit confused about whether this "ba" form can be used in the past or not. Some websites say that you can only use it to talk about regrets (with these expressions you taught on the video). But then other websites come up with sentences using past verbs at the end like this: 真実を知っていれば彼女と話しました。(I would have talked with her if I had known the truth). So I have no idea if this sentence is just wrong and should be replaced with bayokatta at the end or not. :'(

*I say this as someone who's practiced headspins for 10 years with most of those years spent sparsely using protective beanies, helmets, etc. until now, started balding at 18, and now at 26 deal with an ever-growing bald spot white in sheen and swirly from spinning; my own personal cosmic white hole that sucks the follicles and dandruff right out of me and in exchange I'm left with a round hardened callous at the apex of my skull.
Basically, to those overthinking and micromanaging and worrying-in-excess about these things and more, be it a date or not,
1.) FIRSTLY, take a deep breath and reaffirm to yourself that what you're feeling is normal and human and that you are O.K. and that no matter what, you will *continue* to be O.K.
2.) SECOND OF ALL: Remind yourself that you are going on a date to HAVE FUN AND ENJOY YOURSELF first and foremost while being a good sport and trying to make it fun and interesting for the other person, too, not out of obligation but because you add value to the present moment and secondarily, and hopefully get to know someone deeply
3.) THIRDLY, bed hair is fuckin' sexy pulled off right--if it doesn't already look bad-boyishly unkempt, try stylizing it on the way to the date and then worst case scenario you hate it so then put a hat/beanie on or just accept it--as long as you kept up your hygiene and your attire fits the date spot + your personality effectively, this ensures that your messy hair communicates HIGH VALUE to your date and can even make them feel more relaxed: it sets you apart from being so cookie-cutter in appearance and behavior, it subtly hints to your date that the life you lead may be important, busy, and meaningful far more than fixing one's hair somedays is worth, it tells the girl/guy, "My hair's fcked up. So what? Who cares/What's it matter?/It's not a problem = だれでもいい/関係ない/問題ではない/etc." letting her/him know you're not totally invested insofar past having a good time; that you're not head-over-heels about her/him nor are you carrying any other intense emotions, thoughts, or fantasies in your 心身 that would keep YOU from communicating with HER/HIM and vibing with HER/HIM in a reasonable, normal(your personality's definition of normal), and ABOVE ALL HONEST way because going into this and going into most dates, both people should leave their heightened or lowered self-images at the door to talk to each other on the same level playing field with neither holding the other person nor themselves on a pedestal nor below in any way, and last off all the messy hair takes the pressure off the date in a small way right from the start by subtly conveying that this ain't no interview!(I'm from Texas, y'all): the time for micromanagement, infallible conduct, your impeccable business mindset & work ethic, and sonkeigo was the last day or hour either of you worked. Period. And you're driving the conversation towards fun *with* your date, getting to know each other, and finding interest in each other even if you don't have the same interests, morals, ethics, belief systems, or values in common save for the bare minimum needed to get along with and form a reliable sense of lasting connection with your date.
4.) FOURTH, I'm being 4real with that last point; ちょう重要です.
Don't let projects, deadlines, or other job-related and/or school-related stresses leak into your thoughts and cloud your focus. Unless your date happens to want to counsel and advise you on your work-life because they're therapists or work in your field, etc.(not 'can' but motivatedly 'want to'), I suggest keeping work-talk to a minimum and always exhibit a healthy amount of mindfulness throughout the date balanced with carefreeness: the focus should be on having fun, communicating, and forming relationships/bonds/compatibility. Give yourself permission to tell jokes you find funny when those moments come up perfectly in your brain unless in the short time you've known your date they explicitly have stated said subject matter is personal, touchy or traumatic(which'll be like
