This was actually the reason I got the harrier in the first place but once updates to other modules came out I stopped playing the harrier but I definitely need to pick it up again
Thanks for the tip on that "The Way" tool. The Harrier is such a unique and rewarding aircraft to fly. It's like my ex-wife. You hate it and eventually once you figure out what's going on and start to love and enjoy it, it kills you.
FWIW: A few decades ago I saw Harriers landing at MCAS Cherry Point, NC. Even though I completely understand how they work, seeing a FIXED-WING AIRPLANE fly in a SLOW HOVER just messes with my head...😊
I’ve never seen your channel but I really liked how you put this video together. Definitely gonna be watching more. Also this is the first time I’ve thought about the Harrier. I love the A10 and F14 but feel like I have to choose between A to A or A to G sometimes. This module kinda has properties of both in one plane
I found your channel in the morning, and I haven't stopped watching!!! It's great, I love the quality, I love the commentary, I love the realistics missions. Keep it up!!!
Awesome video, very entertaining to watch. Got excited when you said you were on Grayflag and after watching the whole vid, I'm 99% sure I was in a viper attacking lattice C with you while you recorded this. I got two quick tips, at 13:52, that is actually an SA-19 Tunguska, and it is much nastier than a shulka because on top of being able to fire lots of rounds, it has short range missiles. I would also recommend you to be on 267.750, which is Grayflag's TACCOM frequency and most of the players are usually on it calling shots, giving out target info, etc. See ya around! -Marauder 2-1 | Odyssey
I was a 6212 av8b harrier engine mechanic the harrier doesn’t need a long run way or a ramp the USS Belleau Wood LHA 3 820ft no ramp they had no problem taking off ever in fact they took off around 400ft and 500 ft. Only time they had to back up to 650ft is if they had drop tanks with 8,000 lbs of fuel and bombs
Great video man! Loved the intro. I been learning how to fly the harrier recently, one of the more tuff to learn aircraft for me but I have already used the laser guided bombs and its very fun!
That was cool, the harrier is such a badass aircraft! Nice to see the more nitty gritty parts like start up, would be nice with more explanations on what the dials and stuff do as you turn them. Anyways I will subsribe
AFAIK you don't start the AV-8B "without" the APU, the engine starter switch simply starts the APU automatically and then the engine. The separate APU starter is for aircraft on alert, or tests etc. where you want power to prepare all the systems and only start the engine, when you need to scramble.
I haven't flown in DCS for almost 4 full years however, I just built a new SMOKIN' PC system that will be more than enough to handle anything DCS has to throw at it either when using my new 165hz Monitor or my new HP Reverb G2 VR Headset. As such, I am just getting the last little bits and pieces and programs installed so that I can get back into flying again very soon i.e. within a week or two max. I am super happy to have found this video because I have been humming and hawing about what to fly when I do get back in. The last thing I tried to fly was the Harrier. I was getting pretty good with the basics but the navigation was a pain and thus a deterrent for me to continue flying the Harrier. So finding this "THE WAY" software is a HUGE BONUS. So thank you for the great video and the link to get The Way. I will most certainly be utilizing that fantastic software. Too bad ED wouldn't have thought of such a thing. PS> The value of this video warranted my subscription. Thank You.
When you dropped the 54s you dropped then bit early. That number is the percentage to hit. Better off dropping them at 80-100 to better handle averse wind etc.
does it have any a/a because im looking at buying my first high fid plane and this one looks sick. one downside: i mainly do air to air combat..... (best dcs intro ive EVER seen btw it had me hysterical)
It only has sidewinders, and from my understanding it has a gun, but you can’t use it when the aircraft is pitch that a certain angle. I use this aircraft, mainly for ground targets, but if you want it all in one modern aircraft, I would suggest the F 16 or F 18
Hello, loved the video and I can't wait for what's coming next! My only question is what flight setup do you use in terms of HOTAS, Headtracking, or any Flight Pedals?
Thank you! For my HOTAS setup I have the Virpil WarBRD Base, MongoosT-50CM3 Throttle, WarBRD Rudder Pedals and ALPHA-R joystick.... Very high end with a big price range but is required for my work. I started with the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro (highly recommend for beginners to intermediate). Then had a Logitech X52 Pro (had many issues with it and only used it for 6 months).
Thank you so much. I will admit, it might be a bit out of my price range for a while, but I can keep it in mind. I currently own the X52 ( have for a few years now) but am considering upgrading just a bit
Going to be installing The Way in the morning. Stay off Grayflag servers though. It's only 2 maps, and it takes forever to get to the frontlines and the players slaughter everything before you get there. It's great. Only 32 slots though so like I said, stay off. One of those slots is MINE.
Sorry to hear that. The only other server that I would say just is Hoggit server. If you go on their official website, you can actually see a live feed of where everyone is plus where the enemy targets are and what they are.
The harrier has a CAS page that can import points from the F10 map itself. Although it recently got changed which threw my workflow all out of whack which was a real pain. Certainly going to look at The Way for the F16 and 18 though! The GBU54 is my favourite weapon in DCS, although I'm pretty sad the harrier keeps getting messed around with so regularly. Combined with other changes to DCS, especially with SAMs and the harrier is a lot less fun than it used to be, which is a real shame. I've got more hours in this than all the other planes in DCS combined.
@@danielfang749 th-cam.com/video/a0prBtGKGvM/w-d-xo.html There's a tutorial here I keep going back to because I keep forgetting the format. It'll work for giving bomb targets but to see them on the HSI you need to hold down the "Next Waypoint" OSB for a few seconds and from practice getting between target and waypoint seems pretty janky and sometimes doesn't work (The main reason I hate the changes).
Question, how did you manage to give the gbus separate targets, one to hit bmp and one to hit the 2 soldier without moving the tgp in between releasing them?
I follow the instruction and there is no TheWay.exe file in the download. Where is this file located? Or do a short video on how to install it and get it to work.
Tell me about it.... Just a heads up, you can always do a 14-day free trial on most of the aircraft before buying them on DCS. I actually did it for the Harrier and made the vid before the trial was over, but I still bought it cause it's just so fun to fly!
No, APU is for powering stuff without engine. You're setting APU GEN on. The APU itself comes on on demand by either APU GEN or ENG ST. But not both at once so during start the APU GEN kicks off.
Gotta love the dual use of the gbu-54s. The harriers ability to ripple and hit a whole airfield worth of targets at once is always awe inspiring!
You got that right!

wtf that's hilarious!
ahh yes, the well-known signature feature of the harrier; needing a "really long runway"
