That was cool. Even though I was in an Army infantry Battalion, we were attached to a Marine Division in Iraq. We had the privilege of enjoying Naval and Marine air assets. I got to see Harriers, Hornets, and Cobras in action in 2004.
I was army infantry as well and also spent time with marines who had some awesome pilots they would use while we were in ramadi. In Afghanistan I saw a lot of a10 aircraft and some helicopters.
The Navy's still supporting guys in Iraq/Syria now. I was Long Range Surveillance, and my life was dependant on air assets, not just for in and a ride home, but food.
It's rare to still see someone flying the AV-8B anymore in ops like this in DCS. It's such a treat to see this Harrier used again in a way that only what a Harrier can do. Such a nice air-ground attack airframe.
It's funny watching this video. I was driving up the valley to my local post office and saw two dots in the sky. As I proceeded they materialized as the unmistakable silhouettes of AV-8Bs screaming through the valley on yet another training run. I swear the lead plane made a simulated gun-run on me......................... Happy to be a "Training Aid" aviators!
Gotta say I DO love the multiple views you usually give us of the action these days. We get to see good details we missed the first time. That makes it much more satisfying! 😊
Last time I saw you in the Harrier doing some SEAD a few years ago, I decided to try DCS myself. Harrier was my 1st FF module. Today, I have all the maps and most of the modules... Thanks, GS!
Wow man, this is probably my favorite video of yours to date. For context, my father was a Boeing tech rep who worked on the Harrier program for 30+ years. He would absolutely love this!
I feel like a pair harriers would have been better for that mission. You were stretched a little thin chasing car bombs. Fun story though! Look forward to more :)
Wait. Tracers bounce off the ground that much? I mean I expect a few, but that was like 90% bounce rate off dirt... And MRAPs are tough. Anyone inside that thing probably survived. They won't hear or see straight for a few weeks, but they'll survive.
Не назвал бы этот самолет самым красивым, но я им очарован с детства, почему-то! Возможно из-за боевика с Шварцнегером! Очень классный самолет, жаль, что считают устаревшим уже!

Norad
…our old CF-18 long range defence of Canadian Arctic
🇨🇦
Can you switch aircraft for the mission? Say, fly a -16 instead of the Harrier?
i love the harrier but if im not mistaken its no longer supported so its put me off getting it
Those were the most hyper accurate Zuni rockets. (3.5") That I have ever seen.

@alanluscombe8a553 I was in Habbanyah in 04-05
@@paez4779 Ah, by the Ramadi dam.
Were you part of the 2nd ID ? I heard the brigade were attached to Marine Division and were authorized to wear the Marine patch
NAVAIR: 2.75" rockets aren't intended to be precision munitions.
GS: Hold my beer.
💯 That rocket deflection shot was somethin' else!
And GS is up, here he goes, oh, he missed the truck, BUT A PERFECT STRIKE, And GS is the new Bowling for Taliban Champion!
He used AMRAAM as a bruiser. The 2.75" rocket here is trivial compared to that
Whoever is firing from that Huey is WAY more accurate than Longshot. 😆
rude ;)
That's what I wanted to say as well. First time I see a helicopter shoot straight instead of pissing all over the countryside!
“Shoot the tree line”
“I am!”
“Shoot the tree line 😂”
Same thing that came to my mind. Those aren't two idiots in a heli.
Might wanna check your airframe for an Afghan Licence plate lodged somewhere... those car bomb rocket passes were low n' SPICY.

As a former Marine, I love the Harrier. Close air support is a vital lifeline. You did yourself proud!
Semper Fi brother! And Happy Birthday!

12:34 "little bit off target" bro went from a solid to fine mist in about half a second. I think you got him, man (´゚ω゚`)
It's no A-10, but the Harrier does hold her own in air to ground. Good show!
These are by far my favorite videos! Love the CAS

Great birthday video for my fellow jarheads! Happy birthday, Marines!
Happy Birthday and Semper Fi! 🍻
10:45 Shit, I'm late for work at the supermarket again. Mr Abdullah is going to dock my pay. Oh, well I guess my day can't get any worse.
the built in voice lines def give off huge anime vibes XD
Smooth move by the Huey...he was aware of what you were doing G.S...Im digging the objective missions...
Thats awesome the plane has MEU paint. VMA-231 Ace of Spades jet attached to VMM-266 Fighting Griffins. Cool detail.
I had never even heard of DCS up until a month ago, and im blown away by how freaking neat this shit is!!!!!
I got about 500 hours in and I think I might be getting the hang of the basics
@@asiberiantiger188 Took me a good 2 hours to cold start the Mi-24, then crashed immediately while trying to take off.
10/10.
Good to see the Harrier get some work done!!
That windsock at the beginning was having a go at it.
About time you fly the harrier again
The brits should call you if some argentinians touch their rock again
Huey really embodying
"Enemies coming from that direction!"
"Affirmative, removing that direction!"
More videos like these. Missions and don’t forget the landings.

Awesome brother, harrier was one of my first aircraft as well back in the day. Definitely a fun one.
Happy to see the harrier moving mud. Nice show.
I always love the flybys. Great morale booster.
Was I the only one that saw that HUGE piece of shrapnel fly by within arms reach of the canopy!!?
No, I saw it too. Very spicy, _very_ close.
The Harrier always looks overloaded with the shoulders slumped from the weight, but still getting through the weight put on it.
*That last technical* - Temper, temper.
Finally some AV-8 content ! Love it, keep it up man, an Argentinian A-4 CAS mission would be so cool :)
Harrier was my fave at El Toro airshow
She performed her last air show earlier this year. Was privileged to see it.
@@jaylancaster5419 Me too!
Normally all the CAS elements would be communicating and coordinating their attacks. Perhaps the limitations of DCS preclude this?
Wow man, this is probably my favorite video of yours to date. For context, my father was a Boeing tech rep who worked on the Harrier program for 30+ years. He would absolutely love this!
The Harrier just struggles against gravity. When I was a wee boy in the 80’s it was a wonder to behold.
Still is a wonder to behold ...
Nice. We always got the Airforce and Navy POV. This is the first time i got the Army's POV. And the last shot was majestic
Flying thru tracer fire! Landing rocket on lap thru windshield!! Just awesome!!!
Ambience at 2:30 really builds the tension :)
@GrowlingSidewinder so awesome you did this in a Marine jet on the birthday of my beloved Corps! OOH RAH!
That windsock is blowing like there's a hurricane whipping over that airfield.
F/A-18E/F vs F-35C (Fox-2 fight) would be epic to see! Navy vs Navy : Old vs New
Day 148
AV-8B vs F-35B for the USMC version of this fight
That Huey is brutal, absolutely filled the entire area with lead
Wow, that was an awesome mission. I love the Harrier.
You should've yelled 'Kobe!' before draining that rocket through the windshield.
(edited to correct a typo)
I feel like a pair harriers would have been better for that mission. You were stretched a little thin chasing car bombs. Fun story though! Look forward to more :)
They should name that mission "Toyotathon".
Would ve cool to see uk Harrier vs Argentine mirage 3
Wait. Tracers bounce off the ground that much? I mean I expect a few, but that was like 90% bounce rate off dirt...
And MRAPs are tough. Anyone inside that thing probably survived. They won't hear or see straight for a few weeks, but they'll survive.
So cool that the Huey stopped shooting. (If only real time communication were always so precise and efficient).
"Lot of Toy Yodas, these guys have..."
Completely unintentional Star Wars pun
No t pod on the AV-8B, I guess. Excellent work, especially considering how primitive the sensors and EW seem compared to an A-10 or AH-64.
2:13 was a nice tail strike. A bit of downwards nozzle should prevent it but i think the Harrier is build to take it and even more.
Love this kind of scenarios, thanks!
9:10 That air space deconfliction right there… dang!!!
That was a really cool video man. Well set up mission.
Always loved the Harrier. Such a cool aircraft. Great video.
Sheesh, that VBIED...
Well, at least it was quick.
FYI, show of force we’re interesting, I saw one where the Talibs were shooting RPGs into the air at the F-16s. Low probability but never 0% chance.
Thanks for sharing the mission. Makes me want to watch your videos even more. 🤘
love these scenarios you play
The Harrier a great module
Surgical with those unguided rockets. A+
Happy Birthday Marines!!!
Day 4 of asking to do a 2v2 dogfight plz
I wanna see the benefits of wingmen when merged
True
He just did another one
already done it twicedummy
He did like 4 past 2 weeks 😂😂
Nice shootin'! Nothing like a runway with some rolling hills.
Now that was an interesting and unique mission, imho.
Beautiful mission! Please, do more like this one!
Really enjoyed that would be nice to see more fixed missions like these please
Love to see more Harrier missions. That was awesome
Always an awesome sight to see Marine Air
Always love the mission based vids, and nice to see a Harrier one as well!
I don't think the damage to those Toyotas is covered under warrantee.
I wanted to see you make a short landing at the base. Harriers are best known for their STOVL style.
"Have A November to Remember at the Kabul Toyota-thon"
Great mission. Don't see much of the Harrier. Good stuff
Should have made the victory convoy pass at 40kts!
If the show of force isn't effective, obviously they just need to feel the force...
OK, that was one of your best ones I've seen!
Thanks for the upload!!
The visibility in the harrier (if modelled realistically) is insane. It looks like you are flying a chair.
Great, vid. Id love to see how other aircraft perform on a mission like that.
That runway looks like Lightning McQueen's first attempt at paving that highway in Cars
that was a very cool mission! love that szenario
That Huey was really a fire hose of lead.
That runway is crazy 🤣
Не назвал бы этот самолет самым красивым, но я им очарован с детства, почему-то! Возможно из-за боевика с Шварцнегером! Очень классный самолет, жаль, что считают устаревшим уже!
Nice shooting GS! Now time to grab LS, and hop back on the huey shooting for more ROFL fun. =D
Oh great. We got to rescue a bunch of lovers. Happy Veteran's Day.
great vid love watching CAS
Some of those shots were hella spicy 😂
Could we get some F/A 18 Hornet or Superhornet action? Maybe some AA combined with AG?
What a mission, good work!!
Awesome action!! Better than some movies
Nobody:
Huey: 100% attack, 0% damage :D
this was so cool to watch, like a mini movie!
Great video GS! I had no idea of the power the Huey has 😳 Is the Japanese F-2 in DCS? I wonder how it would do against the F-16, today?
Almost made me do a desk pop watching this ❤
we need more of this.
Great danger close video!
I wish they'd modernize the Harrier. Stealth skin, a little more aggressive angles, and the turbo fan from the F35. Would be a sick little CAS plane
You litteraly described the F-35 lol
