I understand the point was to describe the "exchange" dynamic, but in the second example I will always take the bishop and lose my rook because it simplifies the position and I know K+R vs. K checkmate. Wishing a different example were given, but thank you for taking the time to make these videos for those of us trying to learn!
In the example at 5:50 I would take the exchange because King and Rook vs King is a sure win. At 9:25 there is the checkmate threat Qxh7 so why would black play d5?
