  • In this video we cover how to bind your Spektrum radio to your OMP Heli using a DSMX satellite. The process is very easy and you can have this Heli up and flying in less then 15 minutes !!!

    Thanks mate. Best Spektrum setup video I've found.
    Got my M2 flying.
    Now to the finer points. My servo were no where near center.
    I noticed on top of blade grips alignment lines. Made blade setup easier
    No swash level tool necessary

    Another great and informative video Freddy. For those like me with a FUTABA TX, you can buy a very small and cheap Rx that plugs and binds into the OMP SBUS unit. Banggood have them. Part: OMPHOBBY M2 EXP/V1/V2 RC Helicopter Parts Mini SFHSS RX/SFHSS Receiver Board. I found it frustrating trying to find a cheap Rx that would do this, but here it is.

I do not have the channel assign, or Rx Port Assignments or the channel input config windows. So I dont know how to connect the Gear to channel 5. I did get the swash set properly to the normal 1 servo setting. Everything seems to work properly but I have no pitch control. when I move the left stick up and down no movement from the swash plate. the right stick moves the swash plate normally. Frustrating!! If any body has any suggestions please let me know. Thanks so much!!

    On the subject of the OMP M2 V2 throttle curve. It was my understanding that they needed to be flat. Something like, Normal 0-50-50-50-50, IU-1 70-70-70-70-70 and IU-2 80-80-80-80-80, or something similar. Do the curves you show work? Curious.

    • @RubenRC94
      @RubenRC94 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They so work but the oodated ESC (V2 and EXP model) have a build in governor. I suggest setting a flat curve

    • @33forsaken
      @33forsaken  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you are correct, flat curves like 60 normal 70 idle 1 and 80 idle 2. The Gov will handle the rest.

      It was my bad at first but latter corrected it.

    Managed to get the M2 EXP at Christmas, have done the required pre-steps and it is now bound to my dx6e radio. I use switch B for flight-mode changing where position 0 is for normal/SAFE, position 1 for idle up 1 and position 2 for idle up 2. With the radio on and flight mode switch at 0, I plug a battery into the heli and after it has initialized, I see a solid red light (on left-hand side) and a solid blue light (on right-hand side) in the tiny LED window on the flybarless controller. Does this mean that stabilization/self-levelling is active? In idle up 1 and 2, the red led blinks whilst the blue stays solid. Does that sound correct?

    So which is the spektrum satellite with bind button ?

  • @billyd78
    @billyd78 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I see alot of pilots using those sort of throttle curves (not constant) but wonder why? Doesn't the fc have a governor? Why do you have to goose it at higher pitch? If the governor does it's job that shouldn't be necessary right? Unless you actually want head speed to change? Or are you assuming the head will bog at high pitch?

    • @33forsaken
      @33forsaken  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No I now use a flat curve after doing my testing. This was just my overall setup before the first flight. This models does have the GOV so there is no need to V curve unless to make boost in pitch.

  • @robindavies7144

    Hi Freddy, at approx 16.00 on your video, you show us the 'external binding' process. I am due to receive my OMP M2 EXP in a few days (hopefully!!) and would ask could I use a Spektrum AR610 as my external bind receiver? I do have an SPM9645 satellite which I will fix to the OMP flybarless unit as you have done. Which port did you plug the battery into for the temporary power needs to bind to your transmitter? Does the M2 EXP come with any form of SAFE/Stabilization?

  • @hankhamner3671
    @hankhamner3671 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @33forsaken  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      To my understanding this is correct

    • @RubenRC94
      @RubenRC94 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is also a mode in between. I'm not sure of the exact value. But there is stability, 3d Normal, 3d violent. Stability is self explanatory, difference between 3d normal and 3d violent is the roll rate. 3d violent is much faster.
      Personally I have the omp flight mode (ch5) mapped to another witch then my idle up switch. This means I can run idle up in stability mode if i wanted. Or what I use most iu2 80%ch curve in soft 3 mode, as I'm not that great of a 3d pilot and mostly do sporty flying. But the higher headspeed helps with wind and overall responsiveness

    I'm setting up on a JR 12x. Not sure what to do with gear channel…3 position switch but at what end points eg 0, 50 and 100%? I can obviously mix this to the flight mode switch then
    Also, are you getting swash reactions when you move the heli on the bench…I'm not?

      if you have an OpenRX transmitter, you can use OMP protocol to bind to the unit, and need no extra external receiver.

      Self Level can be set two ways and its controlled by the gear channel for spectrum. you can assign that channel to your idle up switch and have normal mode have the self stable active then turns off for idle one and two. Or you go enter the gyro menu in the transmitter and activate the gyro. then if you assign to a three position switch (or any switch you want) you can use -100 and +100 values to turn off and on self level.
