    Nice! The only two comments I have. One, when I was using Spektrum I found a little trick to avoid using a FBL or a receiver. It takes patience and some trial and error. If you slowly plug in the connector to the powered heli, without pushing it all the way, you will find at one point it will go into bind mode. This is what I always did with my Spektrum DSMX receivers. Second, as a best practice I set HOLD and THROTTLE CUT to the both rear switches. I use Hold on the same switch you use, but then on the left back side I assign Throttle Cut. This prevents accidental spool up if you happen to bump the switch when you are walking back from the flight line. Yes, I speak from experience. The heli won't spool up unless BOTH are disengaged. I usually flip Hold to land on a soft baby auto, then hit Throttle Cut and start walking towards the model.

      So the only time I ever use actual throttle cut is with a nitro model. There is really no use on an electric model as you are using throttle hold. Brought a hold is the exact same thing and going to give you 0% override no matter what mode you are in. Now of course if you want a secondary safety precaution you could set a secondary throttle cut/safety switch but in 25+ years of flying helicopters I have never accidentally spooled a model up by flipping the switch or what not. I guess because I have done it for so long and just redundancy and Second nature I have never had that issue. But to each their own, the best part is everybody sets their models up differently. I just personally don’t see the need of throttle cut on an electric model.

      @@westhobbiesrc8051 Yeah. I even use the same trick on my VControl, two switches for safety. I know it can never happen, but the one time it does, you wish you had it. It has happened to me before once, though, and that is why I keep using the two safety switches. To be honest, the weirdest things happen to me anyways so better to be safe than sorry hehehe.

    Nice :) How can a SPM9745 be connected to a current receiver (e.g. AR6610T) if I do not have an old Spektrum receiver? Which port or which pins should I use on the receiver? XBUS?

    • @westhobbiesrc8051

      Thank you, so unfortunately no. The SPM9745 is DSMX and the newer RXs are SRXL2 only. I’ve never been able to make a DSMX satellite bind or work with the newer RXs like the AR6610T.

    CAN u help? So I got the "Radiomaster Zorro" along with the M1evo (SFHSS) and I got them all bound together. How do I tell the M1evo's flight controller that when I trigger a certain switch, do a specific action? The "mixes page" doesn't really do much.
    TO be more clear, if we're talking about FPV drones, we have to use "Betafliight" and under the "modes" tab, we can setup say arm, to be on a certain "AUX" switch. M1evo's flight controller can't connect to betaflight? so how do I tell it that I want said "AUX" switch to be "arm or disarm," or do "normal or acro" mode?

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you have to set all that in the transmitter. So a -100 value would be throttle hold. (Disarm) flight modes would be a -100-0-+100 value for Auto level and Regular mode. You will need to set your throttle craves as well as pitch curves. I don’t use Radiomaster anymore but when I did I used DSMX. Unfortunately my radio files wont work with SFHSS. I would see if you can find a file to download and use for that setup.

    • @TRiSTAN_669
      @TRiSTAN_669 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank! for the answer, but still confused... not working. So I'm under the "Mixes" tab right? I set up one named "hold" with source on button "SF" weight "100" and switch to SFup. Then I have another one source button "SF" weight "-100" and switch SFdown for arm. Doesn't work.
      SO what exactly is driving it to follow the command? I mean if I name a mix "hold" or "arm" does the Heli's FC know automatically what that means? I feel like there's a way to configure the flight controller that I'm missing and I wonder if a tutorial on this exists..

      www.buddyrc.com/products/kensun-dsm2-dsmx-compatible-satellite-receiver-with-binding-button
      This satellite has a bind button so you can bind with out the need of a separate RX or FBL unit to bind to your spektrum radio. The Kensun satellite works great and the best option for a M1/M2.

    Thanks for posting this excellent video. Getting back into helis after 15 years and the M1 is my first flybarless model. If the heli won’t stay in one spot while hovering ( in any mode) is it ok to use aileron and elevator trim on the transmitter ? Thanks.

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You’re welcome! Thank you for watching! So no never use trim! It will make the Heli do some weird things. A Heli will never stay in one spot with out some sort of correction. Now of course it will be very stable but drifting is normal to a degree if it is drifting very bad where you have to hold a lot of input to keep it there then I would recommend making sure swash plate is level and doing a trim flight. But I would go and make sure swash plate is level first.

      Always USE DR/EXPO! This is basically taming things down, NEVER use more than say 40% expo, it will be like a delayed reaction, if using FUTABA it is NEGATIVE EXPO, IF using SPEKTRUM it is POSITIVE EXPO, hope this helps.

    What gyro settings do I need to assign?
    And if I understood correctly you set all your D/R on 100% and no expo correct?
    Thx!

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! You don’t need to set any gyro gain just need to assign channel 5 to your flight mode or witch ever switch you like. You just need a +/- 100 to set Auto level and no auto level. Yes, I set D/R to 100% and no expo but that is all a user preference.

      All right!
      I set in „F-Mode Setup“:
      Flight Mode: Elev D/R (because that is what I’m used to)
      That means I have to put in „Switch Select“
      F Mode: Gear
      Is that correct? In my DX8 Menu are no Channel Numbers listed.

    Does the tail curve, gyro, governor settings have any effect? I'm on original DX8.
    Also, I have the gear switch right behind the f mode switch. Does flipping gear switch change the stability mode or is it only fmode switch?

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, tell curve, Gyro, governor settings do not have any affect on the model. You can assign the stability to any switch you want. It’s CH5 so go to channel asign and select what switch you want for channel 5 to turn stability on and off it’s a +100 and -100 value. So +100 is on zero or -100 is off.

    • @Thrashaero
      @Thrashaero ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@westhobbiesrc8051 I know the part about stability switch to anything I want, which is the fmode switch like I have it on another heli. I'm asking if the gear switch behind it also toggles the stability mode or is it only the fmode switch?
      Also do you know if any of the settings on the flight controller (the led's) are independent of the satellite receiver or if they make no difference with a satellite receiver?

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Thrashaero no, the gear switch does nothing if it is not assigned. The LED lights that you push and hold to adjust or sit or independent of the satellite. Those lights are only for adjusting the FBL unit.

    Surprised to see no rate/expo assignment unless I missed it? I assign/add that to my M1 and M2’s etc. All of my helis have rate (sport, 3D etc) on a switch and the head speeds on a separate switch. Also the auto level I do on a separate switch.
    Good video though.

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No I don’t use expo or rates on any model. I set my M1s and M2s to 9 blinks and try and get as much movement as possible and they still are not fast enough. On my IKons I set 700 for rotation rate as well as tail rate on all models and zero expo.

    Is it possible to set up panic mode on this?

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      “Normal mode” is a self leveling mode. So you can always switch back to Normal mode and have a panic mode.

  • @xcellfury99
    @xcellfury99 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Its better to just have normal with a flat curve and keep pitch the same so you can fly nomally, still do 3D (low rpm) & not have to worry about shutting the motor off because of the curve having a 0 value. Having unstable rpm in a heli is generally not good either.

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      But where is the unusable rpm? The point of normal mode is just that, normal flying. Personally I don’t care for low rpm flying unless it’s just hovering around or basic circuits. The whole point of having zero while throttle is down if so the model does not sport and anything over zero is going to go to a 50% or whatever flat line curve you say so there is no purpose of doing a flat line curve and just draw to hold off. But to each their own! And everybody likes their model set up differently.
