@@emilybh6255 She and Sam are my two regular "sailing" channels, most are just lounging around in the sun looking pretty or just doing constant maintainance or repairs.
Sam; Massive mer'rang waves i call it when it is that choppy! The pickle was doing what she does best. Skipping waves. Your cabin is bound to take in water with those... Man i loved the parasailing. I did it once from a boat in Ixtapa. Not quite the same. I cheated. But now i can understand the thermals. That google app is cool. Like a bird, a birdseye view of Greece. Thanks for letting us cling to your feathers...and fly-sail along... God's speed!
Maybe wait for other pilots on launch, locals might have a better plan for conditions and insight about good places to find lift. Been paragliding two years here jn the mountains of Colorado. I lovvveee it. Nice track log. Looks like that thermal petered out or you maybe got upwind of it. Dont be afraid to widen your search pattern when the lift dies out. Could have been capped by an inversion layer. Seems you may have left a little early. Been watching your videos since you were on a dingy sailing the mangroves of Florida and doing insane crossings to the Bahamas on such a small boat! Hope to buy a boat again someday, maybe see you out there.
Hey Sam, it's great to see you in Lefkada. At the end of the beach where you landed on the paraglider, under the huge rock is an incredible cave that is swimiable! Take a look next time!
I've been continually impressed with your simple unpainted pressure treated washrails attached to your stantions. They have done some great service and still look great. Very innovative and no varnish. Love em.
Another fabulous video. Sharing your adventures with us all is a profound gift. I’ve seen so many places you’ve been to that I know I would never otherwise have been aware of. Your positive approach to life and sailing in particular is so beneficial for me. Cheers Sam!
Hey brother just wanted to say you are a joy to watch and I appreciate your videos. If you ever make it over to Rhode Island I have a private dock in Point Judith for ya.
Sam, You are the man !!!! I've enjoyed many of your videos. I just had my sailboat sink at the dock here in Hudson , Fl. I will look for another boat. This time I would like to go with a smaller boat (18-25 ft. or so ) . If you know of any for sale along the gulf coast let me know. I can't afford much as I didn't have insurance on the last one. I look fwd. to meeting you someday. Thanks, Jerry Gotts
I really like your channel, captures the essence of solo sailing very well 😀 A suggestion, how about a quick intro on every video, your yacht, about you, where from and to, and the grand plan 😀
Sam, I had to stop watching your channel about a year ago when you ran aground and lost your boat. I was terrified that something really bad would happen to you. But look at you! You're cruising the Adriatic on your way to Greece. You're a modern-day Ulysses. You're a kind, gentle person, and I like that a lot.
Great views Sam, enjoy seeing the seas and beautiful views. You are very blessed, my friend. Thanks so much for sharing. It makes me think LG! Life is Good!
Hi, great vid as usual. Listening to you about your gas leaking. I noticed you had both cans facing different directions so if you push these into a locker, or stand it up, you run the risk of having one of the cans resting it’s and the other can’s weight on the spring valve, thereby causing the leak. I’d have them facing the same direction and have them standing on the base of the cans.
Sam did you hear that same pod of Killer Whales that has sank 5 boats since 2020, damaged the rudder on a 50 foot sailboat and it sank today in the Strait Of Gibraltar. 😱🙏🏼✌️
2:25 The Earth is Round, it's Round!!! Loved the 360 view of the Globe Earth and Sky to the left, right, above and below, horizon to horizon, great video. ;-)
I totally agree about battery powered, deck level navigation lights. They eliminate problems due to dodgy connections and there is no drain on the ship's battery. I have been very impressed with Navisafe.
What an adventure. Thanks for sharing. Finally saw you clip on a safety line! Scary waves, fantastic shots too difficult for other TH-cam sailors to capture .
Thanks. Great video. Two comments - to drain water from your portlights, just tack 😂 AND for your cabin top directionals find a clear plastic dome that fits completely over them and can be sealed down to the cabin top - no more moisture.
Hi Sam! I absolutely love your videos, you inspire me and calm me down. A humble advice from another long time but low overall air time paraglider pilot who has done enough of 7+ hour flights: don't stay longer in thermals. Not a second longer than you are comfortable in there. Never regret returning to the ground safely. Thermals will slowly but surely beat you up, exhaust you both physically and mentally. But reeeally slowly, basically a boiling frog scenario. Big potential to get get yourself into a really compromised state - tired, mentally fatigued and generally unable to react fast.
Hello Sam, good to see you back on Pickled Herring. That was a pretty choppy trip across to Monopoli. Reminded me of not enjoying the motion when sailing into headwinds against a strong tide. Sailing in the English Channel, that occurred regularly. But the adventurr of 15:50 of finally reaching a safe harbour, I will never forget. Keep sailing, Sam, safe journey!!
We've just got back from a week sailing in and around Kefalonia. Beautiful place. Port Leone on Kalamos is a great little anchorage if you're still in the area.
Living your best life all the way, such an intrepid sailor! If not in a great hurry I think I would be tempted to reduce sail and heave to in those 25+ knot winds. Pounding to windward when it's rough is never fun and so hard on the boat and gear.
A very long time ago a video of you and your friends showed some wheel walking. Coolest thing id ever seen. I ran out and bought a mountain unicycle that day.. Two decades later im getting into sailing and look who youtube recommended to me! Still a big fan, Carlos is unfortunately no longer with us..
likely your nav lights are getting moisture inside when you shut them off.. the inside of the light assembly is hot after being left on (even LED's). As they cool down, the inside air cools creating a vacuum and moist air or water can be sucked in past a weak or poorly designed gasket.
well done man, I'm not a sailor but the upwind tacking looks challenging. Beautiful seas and scenes. The insta 360 sailing on the marble shots look cool.
hey sam my name is kalei, come back to hilo hawaii, i sail at the club with rhonda and it would be great to meet you. i was on the first club sail on our boat from big island to maui. and i was also apart of the first sail to oahu that the club has done. aloha!
maybe glue wicking string on the windows and have them dangle down a little bit off the side? Maybe that could be a simple way to get rid of the water?
You can check the gas canisters in a warm (not hot) water bath. If you see frequent bubbles coming from the can keep it outside. I worked in a factory that produced poison gas in cans. They ran them through an almost boiling water bath. It was a controlled “safe” environment.
Great video Sam! Perhaps some 3D printed inserts attached to the outside of those windows could prevent the water from collecting there. If you provide the measurements of the window I can try to make a set for you, free of charge. Let me know if you are interested.
Sam, I have same port lights, have wondered about something like a piece of yarn (?) to act as a self priming siphon to drain this water away. How to clamp the yarn? Maybe pinch it in the window, train it up and over the lip of outside of port, “down” the outside??
You have a lot of guts Sam sailing solo so much all over the world! Living free and simple! I have to think it must feel odd sometimes talking a lot with no one there. I guess it cuts down on arguments.
This man, what a sailor ! Never complains, never dependant on the weather forecast, always positive. Small boat, big sailor.
Yes. He and Erik are the best.
Sam rocks it and makes it look easy.

Brilliant video Sam! Thank you for inspiring us to live freely and put more miles under the keel. God bless and fair winds! 👍
Your video has inspired my husband to try that form of flying. He's a pilot turned sailor but hasn't lost his love of flying. Thanks!
Been watching almost from the beginning of this channel. Great to see a really good guy doing so well!

Awesome video
I just can get over how excellent Sam’s lifestyle is. Sailing around in all of the best places in the world, and now parasailing too. Amazing!
i work 7 days a week, over 70hrs...coming up on a year now. I watch your vids and taste the freedom you have. Keep it going Sam!
I love the thrill of huge waves and stormy seas - from my couch!🫣
At 11:03 clever editing, Sam! "Look, I used my PDF and clipped in!" Smash cut to Sam in zero safety gear. LOL
I love how you’re using the insta360 cameras. That first shot was so great, making it look like it was just the sailboat on the top of the work.
Brings back memories and rekindles a desire to sail again!
Hey Sam, it's great to see you in Lefkada. At the end of the beach where you landed on the paraglider, under the huge rock is an incredible cave that is swimiable! Take a look next time!
Cool, thanks
Yes Ionian islands and Peloponesse cliffs full of caves and lots of cold fresh water running into the sea.
Great video Sam! The paragliding is getting better all the time. Love your videos!
Thanks a ton!
Your wonderful adventurous life is so fun to follow. Thanks for the great vids!

Glad you are back Sam , you are truly lucky to live your lifestyle 👍
Thanks! 😃

A lot of good sailing video in this one, and in big weather, too. I enjoyed it.

I'm enjoying going along for the ride. Quite the adventure! Stay safe, Sam.
Fantastic footage.

Dielectric grease for the lights. Grease all contacts. Glob it in there. It's what I had to do for my motorized kayak.
