I also saw the concert last night and what an incredible night at the theatre! Agree, the cast was insanely talented. Now that you point it out, completely agree about the book, but I have looked it up since and seen some clips online that indicate there was internal cutting of the book for this concert which might have made a difference. I also thought it ended a bit abruptly (though maybe I just didn’t want the evening to end). But I have seen Jeremy Jordan before and I will see him again at any opportunity. I was so looking forward to the belting songs (loved “When I Drive”), but the soft, quieter vocal moments were my favourite, “Bonnie” especially. Frances was stunning and “Dyin’ Ain’t So Bad” had me and everyone around me in tears. Loved their banter and chemistry. Will be first in line to buy tickets for the staged show at the Arts Theatre! I think it will be great to see it in such an intimate space.
I saw it and loved it! Of course seeing Jeremy Jordan live was the highlight but the entire cast was brilliant. I have to give a shout out to Bea Ward as young Bonnie, what are star she's going to be. I agree about the book sections being a little confusing (Bonnie and Ted were married?!) but I assumed that would all be explained in the full version rather than the concert. Am definitely tempted to get a ticket once it opens are at Arts Theatre.
I felt the whole scene with Clyde being abused in prison was rushed for the concert. It felt that they should have made a real moment where Clyde snaps so you understand why he is the way he is, but that felt a bit swept under the rug
I would love Jamie Muscato as Clyde! I've so in love with this musical I played Blanche a few years ago and it was a huge highlight of my life.

I like the book and I think it is actually very good and serves the score well. I have to assume the book for the concert may have been abridged.
