Love this!!! Hired out firing on the C&EI in 1967 in Chicago, was promoted soon after and spent 42 years as an Engineer... I loved our black, white and orange on our locomotives and that white oval below the cab.... This is a great job of reproducing that...! GG
Nice job to the guys in the paint shop in Waycross! You guys never disappoint with these HERITAGE UNITS! I'd like to be in the shop when this process takes place. Cheers to CSX from Laurel, Delaware USA.
Keep on painting these heritage units, the design teem does a great job with the heritage portion, and i can only dream what they would look like with whole locomotive in heritage paint scheme
It's the CSX way of honoring the railroads that are a part of the CSX family. They all look great with the CSX cab colors and it's a mark of distinction in being a part of the CSX family. This is the rails part of the "much more" in the "X" of CSX. They're beautiful and about history and heritage, not the paint job itself. You're missing the point here!
Yet another beautiful tribute to a member of the CSX railroad family. Hope to see it someday. It's ok if I don't, as knowing the history behind the CSX family is a great substitute for seeing this beauty on the tracks. Love the CSX paint scheme, but the history is just as deep and rich! Keep putting the "X" on the tracks...☝👍💛💙
The C&EI was purchased by the Missouri Pacific in the late 1960s. A condition of the merger was MP had to sell C&EI's Evansville line to the Louisville & Nashville. Long before UP or CSX entered the picture.
When they get all the heritage units done, they should have a gathering at the Birthplace of RR especially since it is almost 200 years since B&O was chartered. Maybe a gold or platinum CSX locomotive would also look good like Chinese did in the 70's with a couple special gold locomotives

CSX, NS 9939 was scrapped after the 2014 Mer Rouge train collision. I think you should build a NS heritage unit #9939 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Mer Rouge train collision. If you already have CSX #9939, spray paint the train white for a future train company.

Well, a big reason the Interstate Commerce Commission (now Surface Transportation Board) approved the merger of Chessie-Seaboard into CSX Corporation in September 1980 was in the "public interest" to improve rail service from Florida to Canada. It was to help save the railroad industry, along with deregulation, it worked. No, the US government did not allow the railroads to rot.
Still not a fan of the CSX cabs on these heritage units; a locomotive's cab is where the paint scheme is tied together. However, the C&EI paint looks real nice.
The paint work is excellent. Hard work with prep too. Planning each special loco pint scheme has to be a labor of love.

This one’s my new favorite.
That's beautiful! Welcome CSX heritage #1877 Chicago & East Illinois!🎉
Super happy for this. I live in Evansville, IN, which was one of the hearts of the C&EI. Can't wait to see it up here!
Thank you for the information, you guys are the best, @CSXOfficial, I like that Heritage Unit.

Nice Job!
I would love to meet somebody from CSX.
I really don't know why people hate these cause all in my life. i never thought we would get Csx heritage unit, and yet here we are.
because of the fade
New CSX HU is epic
Getting better
Epic Unit.
I wasn't half expecting this unit bc the C&EI was split between UP and CSX

i still cannot believe CSX made heritage units before GTA6
Awesome
Make this the top comment for no reason
Ok
Heritage units are so cool! Is there going to be a Penn Central Heritage unit? It would be awesome if it would.
Nice work, guys. Now convince your bosses to paint the ENTIRE locomotive in the heritage scheme and get rid of the CSX cab.
I like the Fade from CSX yn3 scheme to heritage scheme
CSX 1877
We Got A NEW Locomotive!!
You should just run the 1877 in October, since it’s in Halloween Colors!
😂😂
I like it almost like a Norfolk Southern black paint scheme
nicely done CSX, kinda looks like Norfolk Southern.
1827 had the number on the side of it tho
Which other ones will you guys do?? I know the Clinchfield is coming but what else??
Next is number 1900 (seaboard air line heritage unit)
Why did you get ride of the fade.
How long until Clinchfield ??
I assume that the paint 🎨 blueprints will be made available for the model railroad community
Does Norfolk Southern has a front stripes to honor C&EI?

I’m hoping CSX’s rival, NS would let them build a NS heritage unit #9939 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Mer Rouge train collision.

I know how you feel but it represents their paint in the past vs present. But I prefer their past better but im okay with their future paint a little.
