Have the same problem. Tabs still there after 370k miles. Got told at a couple places over the years they couldn't align with the tabs in. None would remove them let alone give me a price to do it.
I found a place that will actually do it, and they're the only ones who even acknowledged the issue. I went back to the clowns who installed the upper bushings and they claimed it would be against their liability policy to attempt it. I call horses**t on that.
@@MrTaxiRob I’ve had so many shops tell me wildly different stories as to why they wouldn’t do the alignment on my 98 suburban, mechanics these days are either way too young or wildly incompetent.
Why do you regret removing them? I want to knock out mine, but concerned camber/caster will be off after I do it.. and also that alignment can move if the bolts aren't tightened enough.. or move even if they are.
@@chrissupport because it now slides back n forth in the slot under heavy braking or wheels turned hard one way and backing up it makes a loud pop. Dont trust 4 lil cam washers to hold control arms in place.
Alignment guys used the excuse they werent removed so they wouldnt align my truck. I suggest you use the tool so much easier. " Knock out " mine didnt do that.
I put the 3in lift, took off the original control arms and put the recommend ones for the lift, took out the knock out tabs to get more adjustment for the eccentrics, Did inner and outer tie rods. But I'm still getting the positive camber? Anyone have any suggestions? When I went for alignment they told me the same thing, that the bolts were maxed out!?

Had do this for my 2000 C/K 3500 dually for a 3in level kit.
Don't hammer a threaded bolt. If you need to tap it out, screw the nut back on so you don't bugger the threads.
Try a flat blade screw driver under the shock and pry it up, relieve the pressure and the bolt will slide right out.
Its fine no harm no foul
There is a punch tool that is made for this. Clamps on either side and presses them out with zero damage.
J-38794, about $25 used on ebay, or around $60 new
Yes. Be cool, use the proper tool..
Suspose to use 7491 punch
How’d the alignment go after you removed them?
Fine
Use an additional floor jack to lessen pressure on the shock bolt.
Just saying
I removed mine what a pain. And I regret removing them also

Try new camber bolts from local parts store
They should have bigger rounded washers
OEM ones are square round I believe
@@urnew will try it out, I cant believe the alignment shops just don't know

Pain in the butt I did mine too it’s better to pay someone let them have the headache 😂
Steel hammer on bolt end. BAD!
Where do you get the whole assembly.
Everywhere, Summit Racing, AutoZone...
