I never met Rod, but I ordered some bait from him and he sent me a different bait with a letter explaining that although he didn't know the water I was fishing, he was confident I'd catch and he was right. Seafood blend was what he sent me in the post and the lake was at Knossington in Leicestershire, a memory I owe to him.
the 6lb line story is glorious to me😊 because as of today my biggest carp is a 30lb 2oz Mirror from PIT 5 at the A1 pits (muskham) nottinghamshire 😁,my favourite ever capture though was at my local fishery (barlow derbyshire) when i was about 12/13 years old,so 🤔 83/84 and it was a 7lb 1oz mirror caught on 🌽😁,i had 2 rods out for carp👍,also i had a little 7ft spinning rod that i was catching silver fish with close in,anyway i just popped the quill float with a single grain of 🌽 1ft !! from the bank with 1lb 1oz mono on and BOOM it melted away (nearly pulled the rod in) and of course i could do nothing!,fortunately there was room for said carp to run 80% snag free 😅 and that was the best 45mins of my carp fishing life 😊 and always will be 👍,happy days RIP ROD 🎣 tight lines🙂
I think that's the first time I've ever heard Mr Yates swear. Not complaining or anything, swearing is as much a part of a language as punctuation, it's just a bit like hearing the queen drop a C-bomb
I could listen to Chris all day.
Love Chris !!!!! His books are my favourite books ive read them so many times
Thankyou Chris!!!

Swearing is only as much a part of a language to those short of vocabulary.
Me too, I've spent time and cast with chris, it did shock me a little. But he is one of the true legends, a man apart. God bless him. Phinhehas.
