    I’m loving your content. It would be so awesome if your descriptions contained shopping lists with quantities and links to suppliers. Some of this stuff is on the global clearing house for Chinese goods we all know as Amazon, but other items are not so easy to find. Thank you for the great content, and please keep it coming!

      Absolutely agree with this comment. It would be greatly appreciated to know where or who the supplier is of the products you are working with. Thanks!

    I made one out of 65 lb test power pro. 20 ft in radius, 854 meshes on the final row, 1 inch square mesh, last 2 rows are double selvege, handline is ready as soon as I get the leadline attached. I actually hung a leadline already but I had to cut it off as the leads kept flipping up and getting tangled, so I cut it off. I ordered 75 ft of chain, 30 lbs of chain, I'm gonna hang it with that and try it out. Because the power pro is so slick I double knotted every single knot to lock them in place. I'm using one of Lee Fishers "Dragon Head" net collars/heads. Once I get the chain attached I'm gonna dip the net for improved abrasion resistance. I've got over 35,000 ft of line in this net, $700 worth. I was going to order lead circular chain to hang it with, but the only supplier I've found is in China and I'd have to order via Alibaba, I'm a bit hesitant to do that, for one, I don't trust Chinese businesses, and for two, it cost twice as much as steel chain once you pay for shipping. I found 75 ft of steel chain that weighs 30 lbs online, costs $80 including shipping, so I gave up on the lead and ordered the standard old 3/8th's inch steel chain. i also ordered a lb of #4 and a lb of #6 bonded nylon from Memphis Net & Twine, should be here in a few days. This net took me 6 months of work on my off days!

    Great video. The oil on the kevlar twine is used to lubricate industrial sewing machine needles.
    How do you comparenthe kevlas vs braided fishing line? I considered making one from braided fishing line, but havn’t pulled the plug yet.

    Turned out beautiful. Do you also do monofilament nets? Also where do you buy the net dip?

    • @equipyourselflifeskills5802
      @equipyourselflifeskills5802  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't use mono because it does not last and is a hard material to work with and in my opinion does not make a good net.
      If you go to Memphis Net and Twine you can get your #4 bonded nylon and you can search for the dip and see who sells it in your area.

    Have you ever used any of the braided fishing lines for net making? I have been considering trying it. If it worked it should be as stout as a nylon net but sink faster with the line being much smaller diameter and less drag than equal strength nylon.

    • @equipyourselflifeskills5802
      @equipyourselflifeskills5802  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, that should work but I think you may encounter problems that doesn’t plague the twist nylon. The twist nylon is made for making nets and the fishing line is used for fishing. It will be more expensive going that route but I would think it may work ok. Give it a try and get back with me to let me know how it works out for you.

    • @equipyourselflifeskills5802
      @equipyourselflifeskills5802  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      gordon murdoch I think they are both equal performers but there is less selection of braid in my area. I use a very fine #4 twine for my nets. The cost for Dacron would be very high pushing the cost of your net too high. This Kevlar net was very expensive to make but I simply made it for novelty reasons. I hope to load test it one day.

      @@equipyourselflifeskills5802 Thanks for your reply. As I'm doing this as a hobby my time is not a factor so if the twine costs more then so be it, at the end of the day what I'm looking for is a net that will last with minimum breakages. All the best.

    Sir, l've watch every step of your techniques and l learned them all l mean l did exactly as per your instructions, now l have one questions, which is the fishing bag, here in the fishing bag on the lead line one of my friends cast net while throwing it spreads out nicely but it cannot catch a fish or can't even stuck a single piece of stone inside the fish bag ( its not that there isn't a fish). What do you think did he miss while constructing net from start to the end? Its an lndian local net.

    • @equipyourselflifeskills5802
      @equipyourselflifeskills5802  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Felix V depends on the Net type. If he has one like I make (in the videos), the braille lines (draw strings) should close the net and he should have the bait if it is large enough to be caught by his net.

    • @equipyourselflifeskills5802
      @equipyourselflifeskills5802  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lixv2432 No, that will not work, the net will not open up fully when it is cast into the water, it will act more like a cup. you will loose a lot of your nets length capabilities and it will never lay flat.

      I think what you are referring to is a spanish style net. On that style the lead line is tied up with strings 8-12” up creating the “bag” or pocket at the end.
      With the braile net, the whole net becomes the “bag” once the draw rope pulls the brailes.
      The spanish net is better suited for “shore” fishing, were you can drag the net on the bottom. If you raise it like you would on a boat, or wading, you’ll lose a lot of your catch.

    Where do you buy your needles? How does a person distinguish between a well made needle and a junky needle?

    • @equipyourselflifeskills5802
      @equipyourselflifeskills5802  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      A good needle will not bend very easily and will not crack under pressure. They are flexible, of course a small needle will flex a bit more then a large. You can find commercial net maker supplies in the US and they all carry quality needles. I also bought some from Amazon to check the quality and they passed my test as a quality needle. Of course I didn’t buy very many but I wanted to check to see if the average person were to order them there if they would pass the test.
      A one pound spool of #4 twine will be all you need to finish a 4’ net and have plenty left over for any repairs or other uses. Insure you buy “bonded” twine. It’s very important. You may check Memphis Net and Twine Co, they carry a large selection of net making materials.

    What is your source for the Kevlar twine (and braille lines)? I have a catalog from Memphis Net and Twine, don't recall seeing Kevlar in it, but it's a couple of years old.

    • @equipyourselflifeskills5802
      @equipyourselflifeskills5802  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They don’t sell Kevlar twine. You have to do an independent search on the internet and find a good deal on the twine. I have not tested that net for performance, so, I can’t say if it is worth all the money invested.

    Have you made a video for double twine on the needle at the beginning of the net?

    • @equipyourselflifeskills5802
      @equipyourselflifeskills5802  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No because I am demonstrating how to make it and if I started with double twine it would be overly confusing for the learning process. If you start with single twine on your first net and end the net with a double twine it would be easer to do as a beginner. Your second net would be the best time to start with double mesh because you already learned how to make the webbing. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.

    So the Kevlar led line is designed like paracord. Okay that just means I'm going to have to play with making a loop before I make a led line.

    Hello, i m thinking about braid fishing line, do you think it's a good stuff for net ? Is 4x is enough or need to take 8x ? What size is ok ?
    #4 is like 0.32mm diameter ( i'm from France ) and 40 lbs resist.. is this enough ?How many ft or yards is needed for a 4m net ? ( 14 ft diameter )
    Thanks in advance

    • @equipyourselflifeskills5802
      @equipyourselflifeskills5802  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Anthony Adam my twine is normally about .021 of an inch. I am at work right now and will have to convert that measurement to millimeters later. To make a net that large, it would be difficult to determine the amount of twine needed. I normally make nets not to exceed 7 ft or just over 2m. I knot that is not much help but I just buy a pound of twine and use what ever it comes out to be.

    • @inopsek
      @inopsek 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@equipyourselflifeskills5802 ty for answer, i think an inch is 2.54cm but 0.021 give me 0.05 mm it's really low. 0.21 give me 0.54 mm that's something like #10 size and 100lbs resist.
      I was wondering about amount of braid because its sell by 300, 500 or 1000 meters and i don't want buy to much ( cost mainly ), but i want enough. For example do you know how much nylon used for this really nice video ?

    Number of knots to be increased and at what point?

    • @equipyourselflifeskills5802
      @equipyourselflifeskills5802  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When you add your wideners (spacers) every three hangings you will be adding one hanging for every one you add. Another words, you start your net with 36 headers (slip knots) after the second round (after joining the net) you will start your wideners and by putting them every three hangings, once completed, you will have added twelve hangings and every time you add wideners your adding twelve hangings. This allows you net to grow in diameter thus allowing it to lay flat. Hope this helps.

    • @equipyourselflifeskills5802
      @equipyourselflifeskills5802  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, I don’t sell them because of the amount of time it takes to make a net. There would be less the zero profit and you could not make the money on investment. I make my own in all sizes and mesh sizes for specific uses (beach, river, creeks, ponds,etc).
