    I'm here because my snowmobile briefly caught fire and I have some burned wires from the exhaust valve regulator and the CDI capacitor to repair. I've always used the heat shrink connectors, but I've never seen the solder versions. Going to give them a try as I need a good waterproof connection. Great video!

    Yep. Those look like some handy connectors and I like that they have sealant. Great for equipment, trailers and automotive repairs.

    It’s perfectly fine I’ve done this myself on 53 ft low boy trailer and saved the company thousands because in some cases the entire harness would have had to be replaced.

    It’s a good fix. Glad to see someone use these connections, because I’ve wanted to try them myself but I was very reluctant to use them. They will probably make it into my electrical supply box soon.

    Hello Jeremy. The equipment repair facility where I worked used the seamless but connectors in which everyone had a set of the crimping pliers.
    The heat shrink tubing that we were using was the somewhat clear adhesive style tubing from NAPA depending upon the gauge of wire.
    We started using the clear heat shrink tubing because the connections were easier to inspect should the truck or tractor come back for future repairs in which was a time saver if an electrical issue was suspected.
    We never did use the connectors that were used in your repair, But never had a reason to change something that worked great for us.
    Any wiring repair that we performed had to be watertight and very durable with very good conducive attributes.
    We had a “Salesperson” come visit our facility and offered some connectors in which he challenged us to pull apart his product in comparison to what we were using. Needless to say, The products that this person was representing failed while ours held firm and not damaged in any way. We even made up a sample for this person to take back for analysis.
    Those connectors do burn up and it’s sometimes nearly impossible to find another connector - So a good secure connection would be much better than having burned connectors that are a recipe for an electrical fire.
    Great Video As Always.

    I have a question. If the wires get hot would the solder re liquify?

    • @THEMOWERMEDIC1
      @THEMOWERMEDIC1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Wires don’t get hot, The loose connectors do causing arching and high resistance.

      @@THEMOWERMEDIC1 Wires in fact do get hot but connectors/connections are likely to get hot first. Used as recommended by the heat solder/shrink manufacturer, you won't have issues with these connectors.

      @@killer2600 the issue here is not hot wires

    • @killer2600
      @killer2600 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@THEMOWERMEDIC1 No, but the question is if hot wires could re-liquify the low temp solder and the answer to that is yes the solder can be re-liquified with heat. As for will this happen, not if you're using these connectors and the right wires in the proper application.

    Neat connectors, I guess it doesn’t require flux on the wires.

    • @killer2600
      @killer2600 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The solder likely has flux in it. But definitely use clean/fresh copper with these for the best results.
