Lots of good info! I’m on a roadtrip to try to go on an outdoor adventure in each state, and this is where I’m going in Iowa! I’m even more excited about it after watching this!
You've convinced me. We need to visit this place, my 10yr old would love it. Quite a drive from Western Iowa, but I think it will be worth it. Great video, thanks!
Hello! Nice to meet you! We are pretty new as TH-camrs and love meeting and supporting fellow explorers! I am so glad we found your channel. We are from WI and want to find some good places in Iowa to explore. Your channel seems just what we are looking for. This park looks amazing! Can't wait to watch more of your videos!
Been there a lot! Super fun, the Y cave is the best. Camp ground is descent. Great for a weekend of exploring! Not far from Davenport Iowa, I make a bike trip there every year. Great Video!
Grew up about 9 miles from the Maquoketa Caves and now live 12 miles away. It's certainly an amazing treasure! Have and continue to spend many many hours there every year. We are blessed. Great vidio man Sorry y'all didn't get a site at the campground.
Great video. Looks like a beautiful park. I'm from central Illinois and Maquoketa Caves is the #1 park in Iowa I want to visit. Unfortunately the few times I've looked online, it has said the caves are closed. I don't really want to drive 3 hours and the caves be closed. I definitely will make it there eventually.
The trails are open but they've been closing the caves due to COVID-19, I would call and check to make sure the caves are open before making that long of a drive! Good luck!
All the state forests have nice backwoods camping. Stephens State Forest is probably the closest. If you want really remote, sandbar camping along the Des Moines river is pretty good too, lots of sandbar space this time of year too! Whiterock is more commercial but has really spaced out campsites so I would throw it into the mix too. Also check out Keuhn Conservation area. They have some nice hike in sites along the raccoon river. Have fun!
Thank you for sharing this experience of Maquoketa Caves State Park in Iowa! I surely will visit to gain first hand enjoyment from its Beauty.

Did you end up going!?
My grandparents would take us here as a kid. It was always a blast.

You guys will have a blast!
How was it? I'm thinking of going from council bluffs!
@@gigeek6752 Well, my 10 year old is now 14 and we still haven't been there. Every summer we keep traveling West instead of East.
@@OutsidewithTomsame here we usually go to CO, I think we're going here tomorrow on a whim!
It is pretty far for those caves you're right! I think we're gonna go to sioux falls 😆
Absolutely love this place. Been coming here for 27 years.

Hey thanks! We don't have as many outdoorsy spots as WI, but the few we have are pretty darn cool ;) Happy travels!

Very blessed to be so close! Thanks for watching!
17:12 He's pointing at the best cave in the park, at least from an exploration standpoint. It's a lot of crawling and goes WAY back
I came here about 4 or 6 years ago when I was 5 or 3 when I was walking up some rocky stairs and they were a little wet then I did the splits
Yes love hiking here
Batman shirt to batcaves. I see you
So happy you noticed that. If you couldn't tell, I was really proud of it! 😆

Hi. Do you need to reserve a parking spot ahead of time if you only visit for a day?
