Right from its inception, the movement of Pan Africanism was torn between two besetting ideological underpinnings: Elite diasporas of African decent who wanted to return home (Africa) without geographical delineation, on the one hand, and those elite from colonized African countries, most of them Western-educated who wanted to end colonialism, on the other. Whatever the divide, the outcome of the Versailles "agreement" injected the idea of "self-determination" for the Balkans, which the Diaspora Pan Africanists wanted also (and was incorporated) to be applied to African colonies. But colonisers of Africa injected a conditionality that political development claimants must justify or prove to be representatives or speakers on behalf of the colonised masses of people before granting of independence. Consequently, the initial pumped or drummed up momentum started to suffer from political asyphication. Elite diaspora Pan Africanists had no constituency to lean on; William Edward Burghardt DuBois leaned on Ghana. Elite colonial Africans and those in the diaspora [Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana] studying abroad (West), like Senegal, Kenya, Tanganyika, etc, formed local political parties (some appealing to the "bigness" of tribal allegiances) in order to prove that they represented the masses; hence, they gained their independence peacemeal, entrenched within neo-colomialism of Anglophone, Francophone, and even Lusaphone!!! The rest is history!

Why is it just a trickle few of African academics are keen to see the bigger, important picture of African unity?
If i was in Kenya and had authority, i would give this man state security so that he can continue to speak what he is speaking perhaps one of these days mother Africa can listen and appreciate his ideas. Africa has a habit of appreciating somebody when he is gone, PLO deserve to be recognized now.
I have been following of Mr prof PLO Lumumba for long long time he have been calling to African communities and government leader for United Africa no one is listening,he is amazing smart and he really meant every words he speak we need to go forward mobilized our youth create awareness among our self's.
You are living his legacy uncle! I'm over heals excited to see brothers and sisters with this same spirit and thoughts. I dont know your name, but from this day onwards, I will know all your descendants' names b'cos I will be following with love and support till life ends. It ld be a great step to have an organization like this with this same vision across the whole of Africa. In every African nation "THE UNITED AFRICAN" or "THE NEW AFRICAN" and grow these units across Africa until every African soul is highly sensitized about who he is. So we can reflect, change and build a better Africa for Africans. We need an African communication system "THE AFRICAN VOICE" untapped and monitored by Africa.
I have already started to inform my communities about what I heard from the professor and other intellectuals. It's not clear to the majority, but few people are weakening up now. They start to ask good questions now. Indeed ,they need facts and taking action.
This is one of the most powerful speeches I have ever heard. He speaks like a prophet because he is so right. An Africa in which the countries are United is necessary for its future posterity. A divided Africa cannot stand up to colonial or imperial pressures. The United States has not lived up to its promise and for that I am ashamed. But its spirit at its founding was the same spirit I believe that all people feel. An Africa founded on a philosophy of certain self evident truths like that everyman is born with the right to life liberty and pursuit of happiness and is also secured with a federal constitution in which provides interstate protections of trade and commerce would help Africa become strong and independent. This professor I hope has the support of others. He has mine. 🙏🗽💜

Right from its inception, the movement of Pan Africanism was torn between two besetting ideological underpinnings:
Elite diasporas of African decent who wanted to return home (Africa) without geographical delineation, on the one hand, and those elite from colonized African countries, most of them Western-educated who wanted to end colonialism, on the other.
Whatever the divide, the outcome of the Versailles "agreement" injected the idea of "self-determination" for the Balkans, which the Diaspora Pan Africanists wanted also (and was incorporated) to be applied to African colonies.
But colonisers of Africa injected a conditionality that political development claimants must justify or prove to be representatives or speakers on behalf of the colonised masses of people before granting of independence.
Consequently, the initial pumped or drummed up momentum started to suffer from political asyphication. Elite diaspora Pan Africanists had no constituency to lean on; William Edward Burghardt DuBois leaned on Ghana.
Elite colonial Africans and those in the diaspora [Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana] studying abroad (West), like Senegal, Kenya, Tanganyika, etc, formed local political parties (some appealing to the "bigness" of tribal allegiances) in order to prove that they represented the masses; hence, they gained their independence peacemeal, entrenched within neo-colomialism of Anglophone, Francophone, and even Lusaphone!!!
The rest is history!

'What is the state of Africa?'....this made me sad. 'The Central Banks of Africa- mickey mouse' ... this was funny and painful. The fact that our currencies, many as they are, are useless because of the league we are playing in is as true as it is painful. If we had a few African leaders, politicians who were willing to not only think about Prof Lumumba’s several lectures speeches and most importantly this subject, remembering our Past informs your future, Bob Marley said ‘emancipate yourself from mental slavery’ we were liberated from physical slavery but continue to adopt the core principles of our colonizers, but if our leaders begin to understand the benefits of a united Africa we can begin to transition from a fragmented Africa to the United States of Africa. But, the point l am aiming to articulate is that we've been blessed with thousands and thousands of PHDs, Masters, Engineers, and Scholars over the decades since independence of most African States. Why is it just a trickle few of African academics are keen to see the bigger, important picture of African unity?

I have been following of Mr prof PLO Lumumba for long long time he have been calling to African communities and government leader for United Africa no one is listening,he is amazing smart and he really meant every words he speak we need to go forward mobilized our youth create awareness among our self's.

I dont know your name, but from this day onwards, I will know all your descendants' names b'cos I will be following with love and support till life ends. It ld be a great step to have an organization like this with this same vision across the whole of Africa. In every African nation "THE UNITED AFRICAN" or "THE NEW AFRICAN" and grow these units across Africa until every African soul is highly sensitized about who he is. An Africa in which the countries are United is necessary for its future posterity. A divided Africa cannot stand up to colonial or imperial pressures.
The United States has not lived up to its promise and for that I am ashamed. But its spirit at its founding was the same spirit I believe that all people feel.
An Africa founded on a philosophy of certain self evident truths like that everyman is born with the right to life liberty and pursuit of happiness and is also secured with a federal constitution in which provides interstate protections of trade and commerce would help Africa become strong and independent.
